    Police Defect Again

Well it seems that I still have no progress on the situation, I replied back to the traffic branch senior sergeant with the facts that my car passes you can verify this claim with the exhaust shop that tested my vehicle. I even specified the contact details for them. I received a letter back from the senior sergeant saying: After careful consideration of your matter, I'm not waving the fine; you have until the 16th of this month to pay it. Now how can I be made to pay a fine if my car is legal, and the fact that the original defect had nothing to do with Noise? This is just crazy; the police are fining me for something I haven't done.....

    Police Defect Again

Hi all, Ok after a long battle, It turns out that it’s actually a defect if you have a non-standard exhaust system on any car; it’s the way the law is written it can mean anything. And I have to pay up; basically it’s got nothing to do with Noise levels, just the fact that it’s not a stock exhaust. Which completely Sucks ....

Doing something wrong, How about getting pulled up while washing your car !!! At a car wash.

Exactly, He didn't have a measuring device on him and he didn't say that my exhaust was too loud, I have since contacted dep of transport and they have said, As long as your car meets the ADR which is 90db it doesn’t matter what size exhaust you have. They said it DOES NOT HAVE TO MEET FACTORY DB READING. We are in australia not JAPAN !! As your factory exhausts burn out after time and on a jap import car you can't get a genuine exhaust system easily. So basically I have the test results all ready from previous testing and said that to the officer that my car has past many times, But he still issued me the ticket. Sounds like a legal case to me
  5. Hi guys, I got pulled up again last night, this time by an officer from the traffic branch. Now get this, my car has got a bigger then standard exhaust muffler on it, just your average sports ones that you can get at any muffler shop or auto shop. The officer walked up to me and said I’m writing you out a tick for you exhaust. I said why, He said because it’s not standard. I said it doesn’t have to be standard to my knowledge as long as it complies with Emissions test, which is only a noise db reading, which is 91db from memory and the car does infact meet those standards. Has been tested many times. And he said it has to meet the stock db reading of 80 somthing db, And i must have the stock exhaust on it not a larger one. So he started writing me a ticket out for the following: "Driving Vehicle with reduced effectiveness of silencing device" That is what it states on the ticket, can any one elaborate some more if it’s illegal to have a bigger muffler on your car? And if this fine is just a load of crap? And just for the record my car is a stock r33 GTS-T with your basic mods, Exhaust and pod. Cheer
  6. Yer you got that right it’s a "POS" from memory i'm pretty sure I roasted you last time. But hey bring it out I will be waiting!!
  7. Yes we are running a set of Nismo 740cc direct replacement in a R33 GTS-T and its currently pushing 320rwkw, (430hp) at 20psi with only about 65 - 70% injector duty, so they will easily handle more. The only thing you will need for the injectors are new o-rings which are fairly easy to get from any auto shop.
  8. You still haven't answered my question Mitch?
  9. How about I race you in my Line ?
  10. Yer he could but not when i am the tunner. And yes atmospheric corection was applied.
  11. It all comes down to the tune, I managed 223.5kw from my sock turbo. With just usual mods: Exhaust FMIC PFC Stock Injectors Stock Turbo @ 12 psi

Well theoretically no, as they aren’t gasses. In the basics of a turbo car, Air is sucked into the turbo via a pod filter pushed along the piping though to an intercooler and then into the motor. When the throttle body closes the clean air that has just been filtered that’s traveling along the cooler piping hits the closed throttle body, and vents out via a blow of valve. Air that hasen't entered the motor yet, So realistically its actually cleaner air then what when into the motor to start off with as it was filtered at pod level and then compressed via the turbo.

Ok so what your saying is if a turbo releases a small amount of oil, and the blow of valve goes off and sprays a bit, What’s the difference between not having one and the motor burning the oil and throwing it out the exhaust?

The other question I have though, Is when I was pulled up by the officer he was asking if I had an ATMO Blow of Valve. And I asked him what if I do and what if I don’t ? And he said they are illegal if you have one, because they are not allowed to vent to the atmosphere. What I can't work out is how they are illegal as the air they are venting is clean air the turbo has sucked in? Does any one actually know the ruling on this?

Thanks V8SkylineMan, That’s what I though at first but I didn't bother arguing the point with him. He was in an unmarked Silver like ford falcon, They are apparently up from down south doing a big blitz on imports. Mean while I had about 50 S!it boxes with blown head lights and rust though out the whole car, drive straight past and they don’t even get looked at. Its crap.

Ok how far can police go?? I got pulled over the other night in my fairly stock r33 only thing done to it is a 3” exhaust and a pod filter. And no blow of valve The police officer was adamant I had a atmospheric blow of valve and searched the engine furiously for one, he even accused me of having one, cause he herd me nailing it from the lights which is the biggest load of crap. Also he asked me to rev my motor to find the blow off valve, and he was revving my car to 7000rpm and you could here the internal waste gate fluttering and he’s saying to me that noise their, You have rigged up your waste gate to be louder then standard. And saying to me that it is illegal, Also I didn’t think they can touch your car ? Were talking a stock r33 turbo and actuator with stock Boost here, And he was comparing my car to his Xr6 turbo actuator sound. Still accusing me off gigging up my waste gate some how to be louder then standard, he continued to look over the car, and said that I must have my POD filter on a solid bracket to the body of the car ? Does any one know if this is actually ture or not. My other question is, I have a small sticker on my front windscreen up the very very top, He also said that my wind screen wipers will hit that sticker and he was going to issue me a defect for it. Can any one shed some light on that rule ? Also is it illegal to not have your radiator shrouding on your radiator ? As he tried to say to me I must have my shrouding on my radiator as its illegal ? It was taken off as it was cracked and hitting the fan. How far can they go ?
  17. Seriously man pull your bloody head in, If you expect a Motor to last pushing 429rwkw with NOS and STOCK INTERNAL running C16, you really have no idea. If you ask a workshop to tune your car for max performance they will, But its up to you make sure you motor can handle it. As for the Air fuels they are fine for a motor that is built properly and isn’t running stock cast pistons. Ever head of the Term “FORGED PISTONS” they are a great investment. What do you expect, you run a stock motor at 429kw and its going to last you all day every day for the next 10 years ???? Once you start pushing the limit of a stock motor it’s going to start breaking things. It ain’t rocket science.
  18. Skyline R33 - GTS-T Rb25Det Pushing: 303rwkw with Stock Head. Nissan Silvia Sr20 Pushing: 290rwkw With yes again Stock Head.
  19. Make sure you AVC-R Pressure sensor is mounted horizontally and not on an angle, as this can cause incorrect boost reading. Also make sure your duty cycle is not too high, that will cause loud clicking noise when you switch on to A/B and could actually be reading right. You boost gauge could also be out.
  20. Around about the 200rwkw mark you want to look at upgrading to a z32.
  21. Yes i agree, The default skin is much better.
  22. A z32 will be enough to get you to the 300kw mark. A q45 will give up 350+ but it won't be street drivable as it will have problems idling.
  23. Try running 8's that should help with your problem.
  24. I will ask again, What plugs are you running? Also what is your base timing set at ?
  25. Will be lack of voltage, Try cleaning the terminals and re-tightening the 2x power connections, in the fuse box in the engine bay. If that doesn’t work get an auto electrician to look at it.
