  1. ok... mmm seems like a pattern imerging, :-) i will go out on practise day and give it a whirl. thanks chiefy
  2. good point... but wouldnt learning the limits of a poor setup help you take advantage of a good setup.. and exploit it for maximum drifts?
  3. hehe, thanks for the response! i glady appreciate it... i reacon it would be wise for me to learn with shit suspension so when i do get decent springs or coilovers i can relly apreaciate them and use them to thier limit.. thankyou!!!
  4. Hullo, I've been practising the breaking drift a bit and it seems im on the threshold of the car going sideways, but by the time i feel it ready to come out im going way too slow so i just bail... now currently my susp setup is horse shit, really soft stockers, now the thing that i wanna know is, wouldnt soft susp be good for shifting the weight, because it moves so feely or is stiff susp better because you can only shift it to a certain point untill it slides out, giving the car a much lower slide / traction break threshold ? Thanks!!
  5. man i allways thaught FTO's were horse shit.. now i know otherwise.
  6. Today around 6 a white manaro ( i think ... dont hold me too it ) was coming down near green gully road and lost controll on the caulder, did a 180 and hit the center barrier boot-first... anyone got ne more details on what happend... i drive on that road all the time :S and it was in the dry... i dont know how how you could lose controll..
  7. even though i reacon it would go like the clappers, that thing looks horrid, ide never waste my hard earned cash on that ugly peice of crap, and i pitty anyone that would.
  8. r.i.p to the unfortunate people that died, it seems like an unnessacary tragedy. "i'm guessing the reason why the rear passengers died, car was in VERY bad condition. " ... how was the car in bad condition, i didnt get a good look on TV.. it was just a crumpled wreck...
  9. you dont have to dive in head first man, take your car to a empty carpark on a wet day or to a gravel carpark, and just give it a fang, its easy and fun in these conditions. you'd want to buy the drift bible ( DVD ), it'll help you learn alot of techniques, and good one to start with is just to come up to a corner, reef the wheel, rip the handbreak, let the handbreak down & counter steer, then power out... though, that was on gravel at about 40-50 k's, still its heaps fun. good luck mate!
  10. hurm... just thinking wouldnt such a heavy engine such as the RB26DETT completley throw off the weight balence of a light car such as a 180 ?
  11. thanks amaru! also, compared to the sr20det's, how good are the ca18det's? and whats different about them?
  12. ok, the mechanic thing i was going to do anyway, since my dad is a mechanic. also why are 180's more expensive that silvias, arn't they the same car but with different body's ?
  13. Hello there, I'm in the market for a first car, im looking at a 180SX or a Silvia with about 10k to spend, when i go to inspect possible cars, what should i look out for, and what pitfalls should i be weary of ? When i do get my 180/s13 i want to do some basic mods etc, etc, is it better if i buy a stockie, or if i get one that's allreaddy modded ?
  14. Been watching too much initial D ?
  15. ok, thanks, and another thing, when i pull the handbreak when im driving along, say at 25kmph, this wierd beeping sound starts, ( like a computer beeping sound ) ... whats the deal with that... I assume its just a warning beep to tell you the handbreak is on and your traveling too fast to use it, but just askin you boys to make sure.
  16. thanks for all the replys guys. I've taken all your advice into concideration, thanks again!
  17. thanks mate, if i find anything of interest i'll be sure to post it!
  18. Heyo, Once i get my s15 i want to start taking it out to tracks and skidpans to have a bit of fun trying to drift and so on, the thing is, do i need a CAMS licence to race/drift on these tracks, or can i just rock up with my regular probaitonary licence ?
  19. "Is this a stock commodore that does 9 second quarters?" lol no its a stock vs...
  20. Heyo, I'm a big fan of asian cars and the whole drifting scene, i'de love to go down to a meet and drive a 180sx around, problem is i can only get my hands on my mums vs and take it down to the carpark of the local safeways/coles when i can. the question is, can you drift in a stock 96 vs auto, how ideal are they for drifting, and is thier any known issues with them ? also - are there any drift meets i can rock upto and watch or anything thanks team!
  21. I wasnt refering to anything apart from its exterior asthetic appearance. It might look sweet with a b/kit, but standard it looks a bit silly for me.
  22. good read, but jeez, the r35/v35/whatever... looks like a joke, thier is just none of the class and style of the r3x family, just some new euro looking audi thing. bah... bring on the r36... :-D
