  1. Ahhh shieeett. I'm crazy keen on the BBS look though. Trying to replicate the ol' 33 with BBS haha I've got 20s now and even though it's a bit rough, still not too bad. Maybe to do with tyre profile cos my VE came standard with 19s so on 20s, still a fair bit of meat on the tyres (kinda lol). I messaged Varrstoen asking if they would do the TE37 (2.2 I think they are) in 20" for me but ahven't got a response yet. If they did, I'd be ALL over it. But until then, still keen on the BBS LMs. Otherwise, it's back to Lenso D1Rs or some generic concave design
  2. With a blowtorch attached to the end of the pole.
  3. Anyone know where to get 20" BBS LM reps with either custom offset/widths or decent widths/offset for a commodore? Was contemplating D1Rs but then decided Varrstoens but they only come in 19s I know BSA wheels do custom offsets and widths but they don't have any designs which even come close to looking like BBS LMs.
  4. Hey phaggs, just popped in to say TGIF
  5. Typical douche I'm talking about.
  6. Hahaha sure am! More of a money pit than the Skyline unfortunatley and nowhere near as easy to work on compared to a RB Too much electronics behind it all on a VE. Anything you do requires some sort of tune.
  7. So true! Having owned a R33 GTS-t making 300rwkw and now a tinkered VE SS-V, it's ALWAYS the biggest POS that tries to have a go. I seriously do not bother with ANY of them. Waste of petrol and the fact that your car gets impounded for doing shit like that just makes me ignore them even more. Sure, go tell your mates that you hosed off a modified VE SS-V in your backyard-spec POS. Too bad you were the only one racing and at the end of the day, I've got a SS-V in my garage and you've got a hunk of shit on your front lawn that looks like it's ready to go to the wreckers. The number of times I've had stock (or very close to stock) cars fang it past me or try to burn it off from the lights is ridiculous. It makes me wonder, what reaction do they really thing they're gonna get from me? "Oh f**k yeah, I wish I could sell my worked VE SS-V and use the money to buy a V6 VN commodore with stockies on the back and a catback exhaust". Not just commo and falcon drivers, but I've noticed even some turbo imports are the same. They do the whole "I'm gonna speed up till I'm next to them and then drop a dose next to his window. Yeah, that'll make him jealous and want to buy a turbo!". Little do they know, it wasn't that long ago that I owned a R33 with the engine bay that's in my avatar. Oh, and was featured in Performance Import Magazine too! But they're right, I wish I could own a shitter of a car with the stock turbo and blocked off BOV. Yep. More on topic though, I've never had a GTR (or a very well sorted/heavily modded car in fact, regardless 4, 6 or 8) act like a douche when the lights go green. I respect a car more when the driver uses it with constraint.
  8. In all seriousness OP, you were better off buying a stock standard R33 if you were new to turbos. As with any car, you're not just buying a car. You're also buying someone else's pproblem. I was new to turbos at one stage and guess what? I brought a very close to stock R33 and built it up from there. I was new to V8s too at one stage and guess what? Yep, I brought a stock one and have begun building that up. People might be saying "but if you buy a modded one, you end up saving money on not having to do those mods" and I agree 100% BUT ONLY if you know what you are doing/looking for. In your case, you were fresh to turbos and you essentially brought a lemon. I can guarantee you 99% of the SAU members on here would not of brought the car you did, based purely on the "mods" that are done to that car. Knowing what I know about turbos and V8s now, I can confidently buy a heavily modded example and know what to look for and how to maintain it. Unfortunatly, you've thrown yourself in the deep end and your only choice now is to fix the previous owner's problems. Consider it a hard lesson learnt and more than likely you'll end up spending more than the car purcahse price to get it to a level that would be acceptable. Anyway, back on topic. You'll need to get a pipe made up which will mate up to the ext. wastegate flange and have it welded back downstream into the rest of the exhaust. That will reduce a MASSIVE amount fo noise when you're on boost. If your wastegate is leaking and considering it is vernting directly to the atmosphere (or should I say engine bay), that could also contribute to the extra nosie when you're off boost. Otherwise, get some mufflers thrown in by an exhasut shop if you want it quieten it down.
  9. Don't get??? :S
  10. Anybody able to reccomend some gauges? I used to have some DRiFT 2" 52mm gauges in the 33 and they were fantastic but they don't sell them anymore Not wanting to pay top dollar for AutoMeter or Defi, preferbally something around the same ball park in terms of prices as the old DRiFT gauges (approx. $70)
  11. Rajab?
  12. Really?!?! f**k yeah! Do I contact the aussie distributor or Varrstoen directly? And do they do them in 20s? 19s Are too small for the big VE body
  13. Ahhhh I was thinking the exact same Varrstoens as what you've got but the only offsets they offer are +20 which, believe it or not, are too aggressive for the fat VE guards. A bloke had 19" Varrstoens like yours on his VE and he eneded a lot of guard work apprently. Tough look though.
  14. Do the D1Rs come in 20x9s? If they do, I'd get that for the front and 20x10 for the back. Hmm.....
  15. True that mate, good point. Might consider getting the studs black too, didn't think of that. If the wheels are brand new in matte black, is it as simple as getting a place to clear coat them to make them gloss? Or do they ahve to strip the matte off and re-colour in gloss black?
  16. I get cheap wheel balancing and alignment so not a major issue on that front. Just can't decide on which one to go for. Dish or concave? In terms fo fitment they'll both be pretty similar going by pics.
  17. So is this where the whole Rajab thing came from? LOL
  18. Will do mate Pwoah, good thing I haven't brought them yet then hahaha I want gloss black D1Rs 20x8.5f and 20x10r. Might settle for matte black though. Unfortunatley, there isn't a huge amount of choice in regards to wheel choice with a nice and tight fitment so I've narrowed my choice down to the two here. Will be going on a red VE SS-V sedan. Opinions? Matte or Gloss Black Lenso D1Rs: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/attachments/ve-holden-commodore-2006-2013/166454d1380551402-ideas-re-rims-ssv-sportswagon-d1r.jpg Matte or Gloss Black Stag Concave: http://marsperformance.com.au/attachments/images/WHEELS/WR/WR-20-120-MB-VE-S.jpg
  19. Easy as mate, I jsut gotta figure out a price hahaha
  20. Ahhhh I see. and LOL @ the photo being scooped from calaisturbo.com.au hahaha I recently got new tyres for the back and they're still meaty as hell. Will be buying as soon as I get back from the states, which will be December 8. Ahhhh that's right, good spot. I think us VE boys use a 14mm I think.
  21. Nope, won't even need to drill them I heard as I had to use hug rings to get the right bore size fitment. Remove my hub rings and they should fit right on. We can always test it out when I get the new rims manggg. Oh, you'll be getting 5 rims too btw. 4 with tyres and one without http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/attachments/ve-holden-commodore-2006-2013/166454d1380551402-ideas-re-rims-ssv-sportswagon-d1r.jpg
  22. Hahaha alright sweet, but why Rajab? Is there a back story for it? Did he f*ck up someones car? Have looked, but I'm torn between concave or dish wheels. Thinking Lenso D1Rs in matte black, staggered fitment with 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rears. Deep dish and a tight fitment without being mexican and needing amssive guard work You keen on the G8s I got on there now? If so, they're all yours man. Will sell them dirt cheap cos the k*nts at the Holden Dealership gutterrashed a couple of them and hid it well with touch-up paint. Didn't notice till 3-4 months later when I cleaned each wheel individually
  23. WTF? hahaha
  24. Got links? School me pleaseeee Shiiiiiiiiit. I'm off to the US on Wednesday but I've gotta pop around sometime. Can't rememebr if I told you but I stopped being a tight-ass and forked out the $8k for a full airbag suspension setup with self-levelling. Now looking for new rims that will give me better fitment than the usual commodore tuck haha
  25. And if it is the VL Tur-Bro bloke, why Rajab? Fill me innnnnnnn!!!!!
