Yeah, I know. Miss that car heaps apparently the new owner blew the head gasket, which is unfortunate. Hoepfully it gives him the chance to build it bigger and stronger. Bit of a band-aid solution but maybe jsut keep her hooked up to a trickle charger until you can get the alarm/immobiliser checked out. The chargers are about $70 or so from Ricebarn so def. a good investment in my eyes
-
Sorry mate, didn't see that post re: the immobiliser. I never really got a "fix" for the immobiliser problem (just assumed it was a power hungry immobiliser) so I just had it on a smart-charger for most of the time (rarely drove the car in the end prior to selling. Maybe a couple of times a month?).
-
Yeah mangg, weird as shit and hoping both cars are on SAU cos I'd be interested to know what their deal is (in a good way that is), cos no matter what time I finish work (early or late), we'll be driving past each other at around the same spot (give or take a couple hundred meters).. They've obviously finished work and on the way home, like me.
-
Have you checked the immobiliser? Reason being, when I had my 33, the immobiliser would drain the battery within a couple days of not starting.
-
Yeah I've thought about it but I've come to the conclusion I'm far too incompetent for it so would like someone who has worked fibreglass before.
-
Ahhh I see. Learn something new everyday (kinda useless info though, cos I'd never buy a V6 GM product LOL)
-
Might be fresh outta luck mate, I'm pretty sure Holden/HSV went OBDII from VY onwards. Could be wrong but I'm 99% sure. Definetly. Easier getting readings from that than hooking up 5+ analogue gauges Anyone out there who can help?
-
^^^ YES! Couldn't think of the word but it essentially is an informeter that runs off the OBDII port. Thanks mate!
-
Hey, Just looking for someone in VIC (pref. SE suburbs but happy to travel to you if requried) who has experience with fibreglass. Basically, I want a "pod" made up for a OBDII digital gauge I have (looks kinda like a GPS unit in terms of dimensions) so that the "pod" holds the unit. The "pod" will need to sit flush on the surface of the dash so that it looks semi-OEM. So basically, it will look kinda like the MFD found in R34 GTR's (where there's a screen and it's enclosed in a plastic "pod"). Will be more than happy to reimburse you with cash/booze/food for your services. Cheers.

To Sell With Mods, Or Stock...
T.D replied to samdasurfinman's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I was in the same boat as you not long ago (get it? Cos the R33 is considered a boat? Get it? Get it?) and in the end, I sold it complete. You would probably get more $$$ out of it if you were to part it out (and being basic bolt-ons, could be easy enough to do in your spare time) and sell it near enough to stock. I didn't have that option as the car would've required ALOT of stock parts and I just didn't have the time to do so. I guess if you've got time (and don't mind delaying the sale), then part it out till it's almost stock. If you're after a quick sale, just sell it as it is -
F*ck that, I don't have a concession card. I'm already pissed off about having to pay $41 for a noise test, let alone another $10 to catch a tram to EPA headquaters.

I continually spot a grey/silver R33 GTS-t and a black R33 GTS-t along Thompsons Rd. near the roundabout for Westernport Hwy (where the BP is). We are always going in the opposite direction and no matter what time I finish work, we will drive past each other without fail hahahaha
-
LMAO! In theory, it's a great idea. In practice however, we would be pretty much writing our own Test Notice (as well as the other 100+ we manage to get over the course of a few hours hahaha)
-
^^^ this man knows.
-
Agreed. We should start reporting and abuse the system that's abused us (sounds kinda strange now that I read that last line out loud lol). I think a Meet n Greet should be organised at a central point, and then we start fanning out and get as many number plates/time/location as possible and meet back to process our good work haha
-
And if there was a great deal of paperwork involved in cancelling a test, the more EPA staff we dob in, the more work it generates for them. Eventually, they'll either have to suck it up and continue to process/cancel dodgy dobbings or make a change to the system.
-
Typical EPA and their back-pedalling. To be honest, I think I will gain more satisfaction in keeping an eye out for d*ckhead drivers on the road and then reporting them to get an EPA test. If we do this enough, the "general" public will see the flawed logic of the system (the same way they've seen the littering system flaw) and do the uprising for us.
-
Believe me mate, I've tried numerous occasions to obtain the name so i can chase it up without EPA getting involved and possibly getting their stories changed. Thanks mate, I feel for me too. Paul does have a point, but again, my resources in terms of fighting it are limited compared to EPA. There's my point exactly! Why are we "guilty until proven innocent"? EPA clearly don't see the flaw in their "schemes", which is all good cos EPA will get their own soon enough* *I may or may not be condoning the act of EPA Staff Carpark dobbing
-
That's true, but the way I see it, it's going to turn into a massive finger pointing exercise and with the EPA being a government branch, they're going to have a lot more money to throw into defending themselves than I do in accusing/prosecutting them
-
You really love getting the press involved huh? LOL Nope, no name. I've tried since day one to get the name of reporting officer so I could have a chat to him and see where the error has occured. Unfortunatly, EPA continue to withhold the name of the officer for some reason or another. If I was able to get the officer's name, I would no doubt follow the path you mentioned as the two conflicting stories will raise alarm bells. Hopefully the officer isn't in on it also. EPA = Untrustworthy!

Bit of an update: Got home and was greeted with a letter from EPA and thought "Cool, maybe they've grown some logic and are withdrawing the original test notice". Low and behold, what I read disgustted me. Basically, the letter read "The time of 2:22pm should read 4:20pm". Now, this is the part that annoys me because in my email, I outlined to them my exact movements and what time. They basically taken note of what I wrote to them and then changed the time of apparent infringement to suit them!! Obviously I was in the area at the time of 4:45pm (DUH! I wrote to you in the email saying I was there!) BUT not even close to the road/time I was apparently spotted on! My faith in EPA has well and truly been lost. "Disgraceful" is the only word I can think, knowing they are more than willing to pull off a stunt like changing times around AFTER I emailed them with my location/wehereabouts.

Yeah, shame about the interior. The VY/VZ interior is miles ahead of the VT/VX I reckon. I don't mind red VX clubbys, but would def take a silver or a black one though Good luck with the sale anyway mate
-
how much if you don't mind me asking? Manual is a bonus! Always loved the VX clubbys but was a little disappointed by its interior
-
All good mate, I'll suss it out. Thanks for the link anyway
