So where can I get one of these in Japan?
-
I must admit, I have a soft spot for the FD too...
-
You know, thats pretty wierd... I used to have problems in an old place I used to live in, yet now I'm living in another old place (built early '70s) and I haven't had any electrical overload problems  The 20A thing used to give me the sh*ts whenever I used the microvawe, but now (as Troy can attest) I'm running ALL my appliances - air con, TV, DVD, PC, Microwave, coffee machine etc - at once, and nothing happens! It's how it should be really... I don't understand, has my place got a higher ampage breaker or something???

Bought not built. It's still sweet though.

...who was in high school when the all conquering R32 GT-Rs were slaugtering the Australian (and Japanese) Group A competition in '91/'92? Did it have a lasting effect as what it did for me? I see alot of Japan residents are in their late 20's... (27 - 29)... did you guys all get interested in Skylines from back in the Group A days? Well, since the mid-1980's, I'd ALWAYS supported the underdog in Group A, and back then it was definately the SA22 RX-7 and the R30/31 Skylines (George Fury?) up against the "giant" V8 Commodores/Camaros/Falcons. So when the R32 GT-R entered the category, I first of all felt that 4WD would never work!!! But right from the first round the GT-R just killed everything in it's path. The Cosworth Sierras were also a favourite, but the GT-R ate them too... I was scarred for life! I guess that was probably the first time ('91) that I ever considered going to Japan... plus the fact that one of my high school friends was half Japanese. After Group A finished, I never really looked at Australian Touring Car racing again, but preffered Rally/JTCC right up until I came to Japan in mid-2000. What got you interested in Skylines or what brought you to Japan?

I've been to Koyasan before Troy, about 4 years ago... stayed at a Ryokan for 2 days... total relaxation. But I never went to that bridge, it looks cool. Actually Troy I just took delivery of my Blitz LM intercooler, how 'bout we install that sucker on Sunday instead??? :headbang: DIY mate!!!

hahaha, yeah... about the only thing thats worse than that is when old people try and cover up the old people smell with heaps of perfume... the old ppl smell *still* finds it's way out! Bllleeeeaagh! TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!! Whats with the whistle anyway? You'd think the singing was bad enough?
-
And heres me thinking you were gonna ask about Japanese ladies "sleeping habits"... hehehe. I'm western style double queen size all the way... I used to sleep on a futon for the first 2 years I was here though, I didn't like it at all... no good for "certain" "positions" right guv, seen?

158) Rotten teeth...

...156) B.O. on trains! The Japanese proudly tell all foreigners that they "don't smell"... total bullsh1t! How many times have you guys been on the 9pm rush hour train out of a big city station and had 5,000 salarymen just stink up the whole train? I'm not just talking about the intoxicated nihonshu smell, but the really bad "I-haven't-taken-a-shower-since-10pm yesterday-and-not-used-any-deoderant" B.O. and 157) Haletosis. Say no more.

Yes, this happens to me too, all the time. I always put it down to me walking faster than everybody else, but seriously, you get to the point where you try and second guess where they're gonna go, and you take evasive action, only to have them bump into you... 80% of the time I think they do it on purpose coz I'm a foreigner! :sly:

Yes Dave, don't get paid until the 15th, so until then I'm SKINT But Kayo and I will definately get out there soon, if not by the end of the year, we'll definately plan something for TAS '05.

Yes, I'd have to agree with Dave on everything he posted. 1) The cars, but above all PARTS AVAILABILITY!!! Modding my Skyline has been the most pain-free experience ever. It's just soooo good to go into a store/workshop and the staff know *exactly* what you're after... then proceed to give you advice and random info about it! Just brilliant. 2) The women. Japanese girls just have that genuine femininity about them (for the most part!) thats getting harder to find in western countries these days... of course though there are some exceptions. 3) Low crime. It's just great to be able to leave your car anywhere and come back to it and find it safe and sound... without security either. 4) Being spoilt for choice when shopping. Anywhere. (SuperAutobacs especially). 5) Meeting friends. Some of the BEST people I've ever met are in/were in Japan. I don't know why.

The following message is from "Nao", a coworker/friend/hippy/ex-Japnese/drug user from Nishinomiya: Troy, Nao says "Choke on my fatty..." :confused:You two got something going???
-
Thats truly wierd... never had it happen. Anybody else hear this?

I feel for you... I really do. That must be terrible... god I hate the smell of Natto.I also like this one: I have to interview new teachers all the time, and it makes me cringe how especially the Americans (Rob! Don't take this the wrong way!!! ) have this "You guys (Japanese) are cool, but you don't know sh!t" and talk to our students like they're educating them on how to talk to other people (like they're a clueless child), even though the student is in her mid 30's. I guess they seem to think that if they can't speak English well, then they must be retarded? Makes me angry.
-
Hahaha... well done. I those guys should've gone harder at Hakone though. Those still shots at the end, were they taken on base? I like the hangar style shot with the cars... I wanna do that too sometime.

Dave: I haven't renewed my license yet so I wouldn't know. But from what you described, it sounds almost what I had to do to get my license so I'd say it's almost the same proceedure.
-
Thats just the "on screen message" bell isn't it? You know, when thers some breaking news and they just have a text message up the top of the TV screen.
-
Hehehe... the teeth sucking drives me nuts too! "hhhhsssssssssssssshhhh... sooo kanaaaaaa..." 6) Japanese who won't let you finish your sentence when you're speaking Japanese... you're just about ready to bust out that new vocab you learnt, and they just cut in and commandere the conversation. 7) Japanese Drivers license wait... wait some more, submit a document, wait, wait some more, go outside while all the staff have lunch and wait, wait some more... THEN get your license. You only do it once though... 8) Immigration office workers who, even though they've never met you before, are out to make your 7 hour visit as painful as possible. (not that I go there often, and since I got married to a Japanese they've somewhat been more friendly). 9) Insurance salesmen who target foreigners... I don't know if you guys in the country have this happen, but at my school, we're situated right across the street from an insurance company. They specifically sent out a "gaijin specialist" to try and sell as many policies as he could. He kept coming back, and back, and back... in the end I just started talking about how annoying salesmen are to him, and he AGREED with me!!! He came back one more time after that, then stopped. 10) People who let their dog (should I say "cutest family member") sh1t anywhere in the street, even though theres a car coming. I'm sitting there tooting my horn and the owner just looks up and gives me a look like "can't you see he's busy???" The dog was wearing a jumper with a hood too btw!

Dave and Troy are alot more composed than me it seems... I've just had a loooong day. It's not as bad as I make it out to be
-
Bloody hell, where do I start??? Ok: 1) Absofookinglutely the early morning "Guiness Book of Records see-how-many-people-you-can-stuff-into-a-train" commute on JR. I've had a girl pressed up against my torso so hard the only place she could put her face was against my armpit... lucky I use Rexona!!! 2) Saying "mochikaeri de" then having the girl behind the counter yell back at me "MOCHIKAERI DESU KA???" like I'm a 3 year old... every fuggin time I go there. I can speak Japanese... get over it luv!!! 3) Staring. Old ladies, old men, young men, young ladies (yes, it gets annoying believe me)... I even catch the students I've been teaching for 6 months or more still catching a perve. I feel like I should charge 'em 200 yen a squiz just like the zoo! "I can't believ it's not a Japanese!" 4) "Out of nowhere" lane changes by d1ckheads in Toyota Crowns, assorted German marques and Cimas. Like they give a f**k. 5) People who WILL NOT get off their bicycles even though theres, like, 500,000 people packing the sidewalk. Theres more, but these are the biggest peeves.

Does everyone vote Troy the unanimous informer?...everybody? Ok... it's unanimous then... Troy we all voted that you should be SAU's "unanimous informer"... :Owned: Btw, the "JN1GAPR33" chassis code is for the 100 GT-Rs that were officially sold in the UK.
-
Can I tell 'em Troyone?
-
Burto... aaaah.... I'm still not convinced the number was that high. I thought that number was for total GT-R units made in 1995... or something like that.
