About the 'e-4WD' set up on the next GT-R, it was made very clear last year ('05) about the cars FR transaxel, which to me sounded like an about face on the rumours that the car would be 4WD at all... having said that though, I think (some kind of) 4WD system is on the cards and always has been. If you have a look at Mitsubishi's development with their 'MIEV' technology (placing an electric motor in each wheel), Nissan would be crazy to invest in traditional 4WD system now... thats assuming the car with include 4WD. But you never know, I've followed the Japanese press for a number of years now regarding the next GT-R, and really the only thing you can be sure of is that the GT-R will be the best possible sportscar made by Nissan under the current leadership... if thats not enough to topple the 997 Turbo then blame that Brazilian guy from Renault...

I'm here mate... just a little tied up at the moment with moving stuff. I sadi I would be there by beginning of November, but thats now looking like beginning of January! So I hope I can be there a few days before TAS kicks off. Just a few questions to some people: Mr Keets: Whats your first name bud? I need to add you to the list. RaceBorn: Good stuff, will see you there... Nick/Richard: Have you blokes organised passes for the Friday yet? I'm still keen, I'm just not 100% sure if I can get over there for the Friday yet so... just bear with me, I'll let you know asap.

Sorry can't answer your question about Melbourne, but I've found after 11 months of searching in Perth, that 8 out of 10 so called 'Japanese' restaurants are actually run and owned by Korean/Chinese/Malay/Philipine/Singaporean people. The 2 places that ARE genuine Japanese restaurants don't advertise and are quite small or don't have flashy style establishments. It's kinda like an Aussie going to Japan and opening up a Russian restaurant...

Fianlly... FINALLY GT has a proper 'in car' view with full dashboard. Halleluja

Well, it all started when I wanted to post up some info about the 400R, Apex A450 and Nismo GT-R LM Road Car etc, but someone asked if I knew about the 280 MR... this was a couple of years ago... so I posted it in the 'Japans Supercar' thread, not that it's a supercar, just it was together in that thread. Maybe the fact that only 7 were produced makes it a little super?

Aurion Has Arrived! - New Pics, Models, Prices.
Rezz replied to GTS_300_Coupe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
There are a few Large RWD Japanese cars by Nissan (Fuga) and Toyota (Mark X) etc that would scare Holden/Ford into solely making Taxi's. The only trouble is they aren't specced as lowly as the Commondore and Falcon, and by the time they got here, the base bare-bones models (if they existed) would be mid $30K range... not price competitive. -
Can you??? Reeeeeeeaaaaaally?

Danger... Danger... She'll be in deep shit very shortly if she isn't already. I know of some 'Americans and Europeans' that would respond to that with glee and shower her with alot of money and be the most innocent and loving man/stranger in the world... then fcuk her 374 ways and drain her bank account and steal anything of value (bags/watches/jewellery)... all with a smile on their face and in good taste of course. But I always used to say after I get the sob story from new J-students who had been 'used' by foreign guys that: "It was your fault for underestimating the goodwill of men 'holidaying' in other countries..." I always used to get these sob stories because my wife and I would work together at the school, the student would tell my wife first, then my wife would tell me, then before I knew it I was doing emergency couselling for said student. ... yes it was that common...

frother: would it be possible to post up some pics of your gamers cockpit?
-
I won't install it until I get the chassis set up. Using keys would just make me hate the game...

lol at random nihongo Onigiri ga notteimasu - The riceball is recorded/appears... What is the context? I have no idea hence the 'random' call lol

German/Australian. All those saying white boy, pasty etc stop that shit. I don't see any other nationality degrading themselves...

GTR 2 mainly I just want a sturdy frame to bolt the seat and wheel to, with a ledge for the LCD. Gamers Cockpit looks the goods, but they don't sell the bare frame, you've got to get the seat, LCD and wheel aswell.
-
Actually I wanted a chassis to mount my seat and steering wheel as per thread title.

Youd be correct. 'Engine System'. Sounds like it's just doing a diagnostic check each time it starts up, but I can't remember ever seeing that when I've driven various Soarers at work. It could also be a problem though! Maybe try some Toyota forum for more info... I think one member on here has a Soarer though? He might pop his head in.

On one end of the specrtum we've got the ultimate 'Gamers cockpit' www.gamerscockpit.com.au , made in Australia but almost *too* good imo... with a price to match! And on the other end we have the flimsy Hyperdrive chassis www.hyperdrive.com.au , which I think is flimsy to the point of actually ruining the gaming experience. What are others using? I have a reclining sports seat ready to go, and a 19" widescreen LCD is on it's way (to go with my Core 2 Duo/Nvidia 7600 GT/2GB ram system), but I don't want to spend too much on something which I could almost make myself with a few bars of steel and a mig welder. Any advice?

Wow Dave you're alive :) Look forward to seeing you there. Is the little guy coming along too?

I'm absolutely disgusted to the core that no one has mentioned SMAP! yet... I'm gonna have to put in a vote for Ayumi. I know 99% of people think she's a squealing airhead, but I rate her simply for resilience if nothing else. How could 950,000 bosozoku be wrong?

Interesting you bring up that about half Japanese people Richard, as I used to work with a half british half Japanese girl. Same situation, she was bi-lingual, but she just had that totally un-Japanese mannerism about her that stuck out like dogs danglies. She would always get compliments about her Japanese ability aswell, but worst of all... the other Japanese girls were extremely jealous that she was british citizen and could leave Japan at any time and go work in Europe. It was kinda like she was not allowed in the 'club' because of her advantageous situation. Of course you could just ignore all whats been discussed here so far and have a decent existence in JP but for some people everything stems from acceptance and mutual understanding no matter where you come from... and therein lies the problem I have/had.

I used to think of AU as a holiday destination too. That was until I realized without a doubt that no matter what I do, say or think, I will never be considered a Japanese citizen. The acceptance just does not exist with foreign born people in Japan as it does in western countries. Sure there might be times when you feel comfortable with your J-friends and inlaws (maybe!) but when you're out there alone in the middle of big city Japan well... everyone has their own opinion.

It's from the now defunct but still well known company TBO.

I don't want to teach ever again simply because of the mental strain from day to day, having to be the 'YEAH! GENKI GAIJIN!!!!' even when you're not. After my experience I find that I appreciate doing even mundane things now. But yes, I agree with R sanyon it was an awesome experience... but just once in a lfetime is enough. Just to follow on from the original post, I also find that I have this 'romantic' feeling about Japan now, and it's not something that I want to spoil by getting into the daily grind there again. I mean, no one wants to be stuck up against a drunk sweaty salaryman in high summer on the 10:30pm train with nowhere to get fresh air but *straight up*... its things like that that make me think the move back home was worth it. I wish I could meet up with some other ex-gaijins and talk about things, but then again, it's all very personal and I think mostly people would want to keep their 'J-romance' to themselves. I've always got my Japanese wife here, and I guess I'm lucky in that she works for the local Japanese newspaper here in Perth. She gets to meet all the local permanent resident Japanese and I get to talk about Japan to them... but you know what? The local Japanese here all think AU is *the* place to live. 'WHY do you want to go back to Japan???' they all ask repeatedly. To them it's clear cut. Stay out of Japan. But for us foreigners, it's alot different. The best thing would be to spend 6 months at home, 6 months in Japan....

I love it how people are still quoting the info I posted from back in 2004: http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/09/spi...08-nissan-gt-r/
