Go to any of the large chains when they have certain campaigns running like a "Advan Campaign" at SuperAutobacs, Yellow Hat etc and the sales people are as flexible as you could expect someone who usually doesn't discount to be They're all so similar I don't think any one place is miles better than another unless they're doing free tyre fitting or some other freebie. The difference being Richard is that there are 11ty million Japanese people wanting to speak English... so the possiblities of getting halfway decent work in Japan can't be compared to a non-English speaker seeking employment in Australia. direct: you need to tell us the answers to Beer Baron's questions before we can suggest anything. For a start, have a look at this: http://jobs.kfm.to/jobs (it says Kansai but the jobs listed are national). If you find anything in there that you think you might have a chance at getting then let us know with the other info requested and we might be able to help out in a meaningful way. One last thing, Japan isn't everyones cup of tea, what may seem like a good long-term relocation idea while in Australia may very well vanish as soon as you arrive... it's happened to many people I've known over the years.
  4. First of all "sweet ride" isn't used in Japanese so you'll have to go for the closest thing to it "cool/stylish car". Sorry it doesn't sound as street as you'd like it but I guess Japanese car enthusiasts aren't led by the US so much in the language department like we are. かっこいい車 ^^ IMO use that and be done with it. If you want to write it in a cool Japanese way, use Katakana "カッコイイ車". I'm sure someone with "loads of JDM experience" will come by and tell you their suggestion is better so if that's the case, yeah, do that.

I doubt any of the places within reasonable distance have the winkers in stock so may as well order them online an be done with it.
  7. I'm aware of all that, it just sounds odd that your only option is a local train... it'll take a lifetime to get there.
  8. In that case yes, you'll have to go past JR Okayama to get to JR Yoshinaga. You're taking a local train from Matsuyama?? I'm not at all familiar with the services out there, but isn't there ferry or express train you could take?

Make a definite plan of where you'll be going and do a cost comparison bewteen just the JR pass and how much it'd be if you just bought "Thru Passes" for each region (Kanto, Kansai, Kyushu) and bought the shinkansen tickets as you needed them. But as BB said there'll be days where you don't use passes, only use the subway, change of plans etc... it's hard to say.

  11. Riding on the 270km/h Hikari isn't that bad... just being able to use high speed rail from Tokyo through to Hakata (Kyushu) and back again would be reason enough to get the JR pass IMO. But that's just me and I'm not doing any currency conversion... Munkyboy: if you're going to Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto/Nara, get a "Kansai Thru Pass" http://www.surutto.com/conts/ticket/3dayeng/index.html It's a 2 or 3 day ticket that allows you to use all private (non JR) rail and subways in the Kansai area. It will help out with the problems Beer Baron mentioned about the JR pass. Not sure what the Kanto (Tokyo) pass is called/how much.
  12. The Okayama round 3 info isn't up yet, but if the Odaiba exhibiton round ticket prices are anything to go by, they start at 5,500yen and go up from there depending on which area you sit in.
  13. There's not much on during those dates you posted, SuperGT is at Sepang then and Super Taikyu, D1SL, MSC, JDDA drags etc all falling outside those dates. Okayama circuit is fairly easy to get to, and on the days they have big events there's usually a shuttle bus from the closest station to the circuit called "JR Yoshinaga" (JR Okayama station is past JR Yoshinaga by quite a distance so don't go to JR Okayama by shinkansen if you can help it, you'll just be doubling back). JR Yoshinaga google map You can get a train from Osaka (Umeda) or Kobe that goes out to Himeji but you'll have to change trains to a local one to get to JR Yoshinaga. It's fairly easy though and if you have trouble just wave a map with Okayama circuit on it at any station I'm sure the staff will help you out. The shuttle bus from JR Yoshinaga to the circuit may or may not be running so you might be up for a 15 - 20 minute taxi ride. If so keep the map handy because you'll need it to explain to the non-English speaking driver where you want to go... Yoshinaga is about as small as towns get.
  14. Haha hello everyone I forgot all about SAU because of other things happening like my son being born etc! Paragon I'm still here and as others have said pretty busy with a lot of other stuff all centering around making money in Japan without teaching haha... Yes 7Tune is still going and is a primary concern. I don't have too much time to spare to help out on forums much anymore, it feels like an eternity since I had a Skyline too... still love them though. Hey Jesse! Thanks for not killing me the other week...lol

Forgive me for my tardiness... hope you're still interested lol Remember, externally it's only the intercooler grille thing which the N1 has extra in comparison to the Nismo, all the other stuff like the little bonnet extension thing, extra intercooler intakes on the front bumper and no rear wiper are present on both models.
  25. "Skyline GT-R Memorial" has a 'chapter' on the early R32 GT-R N1, but it's only a paragraph talking about the differences and some shots of the practically identical GT-R Nismo. Externally AFAIK it's only the intercooler grille which is added to the N1 in comparison to the Nismo, everything else, bonnet "mold" (little extension thing), front bumper intakes, no rear wiper etc are all the same. No interior/under bonnet shots. Want a scan?
