Steve: Kazama is just how it looks, but there are no 'elongated' syllables, so it's "Kah-zah-mah" with all syllables of equal length. English speakers generally elongate the middle syllable and say "Kah-zaaaaaaaah-ma" which sounds really miss-pronounced to Japanese people. In the same way alot of people say "Owe-SAAAAAA-kah" instead of the proper "Oor-sah-kah" (Osaka). But correct pronunciation of Japanese words and names isn't something that we as Aussies are expected to know, and actually mispronouncing Japanese words sounds really cute and funny to them... so fellas start speaking bad Japanese to the J-girls And remember: :lol:

My point was, it was weird that this older caucasian guy (in his 50's) says to me that people say "Ohayo" when they meet someone for the first time ever. Thats what struck me as strange - he could've easily been mistaken, but at the same time, maybe it's what older people did back in the 60's or 70's as some kind of cool thing to do... maybe it *was* used alot in that situation. I can't say thats what people my age (30) do now. I was not referring to saying it at different times during the day like monk suggested. In my experience, I would lean towards what momo said in that regard, I had similar discussions.

Whats everyone going on about? Reserved stickers? Don't sell them (anymore)? - Nismo sell official Nismo stripes, and all the nismo logos off their site. Originally I could only find them for the K12 March (too short for an R32) but since found them for the ElGrand (bloody long), 350Z etc (also too short). - They don't actually sell a 'stripe kit' for the R32 or R34 as far as I know, even though they were at the Nismo festival with such stripes. But - as I mentioned earlier - you can get the ElGrand genuine Nismo stripes and cut them down to fit the R32 GT-R... thats what I would do anyway. - As Circusmonkey mentioned, you could probably have them reproduced fairly cheaply in vinyl, but for those wanting the real deal, Nismo have them. I can get prices for genuine Nissan parts from Japan no problems, and for the stuff I've already bought from there (windscreen rubbers, engine firewall grommets and clips, washer bottles etc) the prices are about half what Nissan AU want... LOL. *But*, freight is going to be the killer here, so I would try and source a used genuine front bumper and lip/grille locally first before getting them new from Japan. Our container is leaving within the next month, but its going to Perth. Where abouts are you?

Yes, there are different rules for personal/one-off imports and cars imported by a company or agent. Basically, if you are bringing in no more than 1 car yourself within a 12 month period, you can sign a handwritten declaration saying that you won't import more than one car for 12 months thereafter (so they know you're not running a business) and in that case - YOU DON'T NEED TO DEGASS THE CAR. If an import agent is applying for multiple import approvals, then all cars need to be degassed... hence the $100 degassing fee Prestige and J-Spec charge on all their cars. You can't avoid that one.

I took my missus for the first time to see Australian drift, and of course there are a few industry people there, some of which have been to Japan many times, but never been a long term resident. One of the owners of a well known Nissan parts business says to my missus: "Ohayo Gozaimas!" at 4:30pm in the afternoon. I'm like, "haha, it's afternoon but you said good morning, funny...", but he gave me this menacing look, like he meant what he said before coming back and saying "Japanese sometimes say Ohayo when they first meet someone, like it's the dawn (start > morning) of a beautiful relationship..." I'd never heard that before. Way OT but has anyone else got any other wack Japanese language experiences?

$3,000 a set?? Someones making some money... haha I can only locate the Nismo side stripe for the E51 ElGrand (Big ass van) as it's the only one that would seem long enough for an R32 GT-R. I guess that the Z-tune and all those just use the same generic Nismo stripe, but just cut it down in length for whichever car it's going on. I can have it sent to your door... just PM me.

I'll have a bash at it Richard, it basically says: 1) Details of modifications, 2) *** device (weird kanji - anyone?) 3) forced induction engine 4) classification 06134-004 Even my missus couldn't read those kanji... hope someone else has a clue?
