Why couldn't they at least give us proper scale drawings instead of this stylistic crap? In my mind it's no better than the hundreds of CG rederings that the Japanese mags have been spewing out for 4 years now. Nissan... give it up it's not funny anymore. At TMS they're still gonna be tight lipped about the final spec etc. Thats the beauty of speculation really, out of the 100's of articles that have been written for the next GT-R, you can pick bits of info out of all of them and at least get a general picture of what the thing will be like. But then the day comes and everything is revealed... and people STILL say it's crap/gay/awesome/mediocre/not-a-real-GTR/whats-the-chassis-code... So Nissan? Just tell us whats going on and get it over with?

Nope, the Skyline and Silvia will arrive in Fremantle on Thursday.

Meh, it's just the culture here... pay alot for not much. Guys wanna profit by doing as little as possible, that means offering some services that aren't labour intensive and still charging a bomb. The trouble is people just accept it here and don't vote with their wallets... mind you I don't see many alternatives? What can you do? Open your own cut price machanical shop? Hmmmm... thats got me thinking... Have you tried Wilkinsons Suspension Center? They deal with King springs (plug for Brett... haha )

I'm Coming To Perth.. My (tko's) R32 Is Coming Too
Rezz replied to Rezz's topic in Western Australia
I'm not sure if I live in an estate... I'm near the Woolworths sevice station just up the road (Nicholson) from the shopping center aaaah... yeah... you know? It's on the cnr of Nicholson and South. Actually theres this bloody big Muslim temple thing across the road from me... -
Yeah theres always some tuff cars at Fu_kuoka AS, but it's definately not on the same scale as Tkyo, and even Osaka is bigger. I'd go to Fu_kuoka for sightseeing first - Auto salon second. I'd go to Tokyo for the Salon first - sightseeing second...

Auction Sheet Translation
Rezz replied to R32zilla's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
What a mess... the car and the auction sheet! Can't remember what 'R' on auction sheets means, it's crashed or something? Anyways, theres quite a bit of damage right the way around, but on the good side it's got a fair few aftermarket bits stuck to it, multiple guages, suspension, aforementioned exhaust, induction pipe and some other stuff I can't read... can you get a bigger scan? Some, nay, most of the kanji is illegible. -
As Predator said it's not a priority for Nissan (as long as Ghosn is beancounting/cost cutting). Nissan enthusiasts have to get it into their heads that: a) Nissan had a near-death experience in 1999 b ) Ghosn was called in to 'revive' Nissan and to put the Co back into the black - not much more than that... he is a professional CEO, and he does what is *needed*, not whats wanted. The fact that he's had great interest in Fairlady Z/350Z and the next GT-R is a bonus... to expect Nissan to just carry on with the same motorsports driven financial arrogance as in the 1980's and 90's is just stupid. c) true Nissan enthusiasts will give Nissan all the time in the world to release an R34 GT-R successor. There has been 'breaks' in the Skyline GT-R lineage before, and theres no reason why anyone should get nervous because it's taking 6 years or more to bring about the next GT-R. Rest assured, the Japanese are still in control at Nissan, Nissan is still Japans 'trophy' carmaker (despite lacklustre model lineup) - in spirit at least - and Ghosn will not be at the helm forever. d) What we're seeing is Nissans evolution into the 21st century way of doing business. For 20 years from the early 70's to the early 90's, Japan was in an unprecedented economic bubble that put them at the top of the world financially. That kind of wealth seriously 'scewed' reality in that Japanese car makers were going around releasing fantastic cars that put the maker deeper and deeper into the red... but on the face of it everything was rosy... in my experience this is typical Japanese 'inward protectionism' (as I like to call it) where they kept failing businesses afloat with extraordinary amounts of money - not to learn new ways of business in changing economic climates - but more to *save face* and not bow to defeat and apply for bankruptcy... which Nissan came dangerously close over 5 years ago. Sorry for the long winded post, but thats kinda what I've learnt from 5 years in Japan and researching car industry matters there. It's very brief and theres alot more to it than what I've just posted, but you get the idea.

You see, now according to a 998 scoring TOEIC J-nerd who heads the 'English Department' at Hiramatsu Co (who make those wrappers for sandwiches) 'Jyaponeeze peepr can understand DERICIOUS... I know it's wrong but if we spell it the right way, only a limited amount of people can 'get it'... most will think it's some other inconsequential word...'

Guys just wait for the TMS... what a letdown that schetch is.... and the accompanying text.

The American fanboy hype surrounding 'THEIR' new GT-R has surely put me off ever being interested in finding out new info again... I mean seriously, it seems as if 80% of the traffic at 'GT-R themed' websites is through 16 year old US kids out of Fort Worth, Texas or something. Just wait until the TMS and all will be revealed. I can already assume that: 90.85% of respondents will yell 'OMG what a piece of sh*t!' at first sight of the next GT-R 36.75% of respondents will ask 'Ok, but whats the part number of the front upper control arm???' 59.88% of respondents (from UK;)) will say 'Rightio then, but don't believe anything until they arrive at the dealership'. And 99.99% of respondents will say: "It's not a real GT-R like the R34"... Well thats all from me on the matter. It was quite interesting following the trail of 'spy magazine' info leaked years before concepts were released, but now it's come down to Nissan just doing things in their own time, and for US fanboys to calm down... it's just a freakin car.

We did this quite a while ago already http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...9196&hl=Japlish but it's always good to see 'Japlish' and other corny stuff out of Japan. On topic though rs73 noted why they only 'selectively' misspell wordsin English... well maybe my missus can answer that: "I don't know..."

Yeah it was a bit disappointing the last time I went out there with Gojira and Savalas. Going back 5 years ago it was positively huge... don't take this the wrong way Jesse - I think it's a valid point - do you think the 'Gaijin invasion' has anything to do with it? I know foreigners have been coming there in dribs and drabs for years now, but I think you and Laurence are the first guys to do it consistently long term (?) ... sorry a bit OT...

Not a Japanese fella then... it should be fine. Don't get me wrong, there are J-guys there who are extremely friendly and accomodating but when push comes to shove, in my experience they rarely follow through unless theres a solid financial benefit from the outset. (My attempt at not ruffling any feathers ) Also I wouldn't bet on a heap of cars that appeal to you being all in the one place! Unless you go to a dealer like GT Net, you might find that the car you want will be on the other side of the country like Kyushu or up Sendai way. It's a bit hard to advise you in the best possible way, so thats why I said Tokyo, because Yokohama and Chiba are justa stones throw away. It's central in the grand scheme of things too.In my car buying experience in Japan, it boiled down to being in the right place at the right time, and letting friends/aquaintences know what kind of car you're after well in advance... have the auctions and Yahoo as backup...

Sounds like you'd have your work cut out for you with only 10 days. I think most of that time would be chewed up with finding the cars you want. In my opinion, go to Tokyo. The 4 points you listed would be better fulfilled there, except 2) and 3). For 2) I don't know exactly what you mean by 'future projects', but if you're thinking about exporting or getting (any kind of) work done, it'd take more than a 10 day visit to build up the relationship you need to get any kind of commitment from Japanese people hehehe For 3), visiting tracks is easy, but the '1 on 1' drift lessons might be a stretch. I'm not sure about Tokyo, an even in my old haunt of Osaka the guys there might be a bit iffy... just straight up ask? If you can actually get out to some illegal drifting I'm sure theres someone who'll give you a couple opf tips.

I asked myself the same question 2 years ago... IMO once you've seen one R34 GT-R with widebody kit, 20x13" wheels, 1200hp engine, carbon everything and 3 half naked J-girls crawling over it... you've seen it all In fact, the standard of the rest of the world (EU, US, AU and more or less Canada, UAE and NZ) has caught up so much in the last 3 years that I believe that the Japanese are finding it harder and harder to stand out... it's not 1996 anymore... I honestly believe the old days of Japan hype and all that goes with it will come to an ABRUPT END when 3 Fast 3 Furious is released, and a new generation of 16 year old American kids make it totally uncool to like anything about Japan. It's over. LOL

Hello guys, I'm here now... ... in Canning Vale. I was all pumped up on the weekend with the fine weather and all, but now I'm a bit of a downer... what with my Dad's 256k *cough* BROADBAND *cough* lame internet, and NO CAR! I'm kinda stranded... On the bright side though, my older brother just bought an almost new bright yellow S15 Silvia GT Spec S (auto - he can't use his left arm) and my other brother Nick (Tech 9 tires) has this crazy Toyota van with 20" wheels... all I could say was "WTF"? I won't be able to cruise with any of you until the end of October as my cars don't arrive until the 13th, and then I've gotta do all the compliancing and registering etc etc. Whats the next big event that alot of you guys will be attending? -
Exactly right... the guys I talked to (SuperAB, MOH) all were too busy with work from their Japanese customers, let alone some Aussie mofos 10,000km's away... Btw, I'm now "an Aussie mofo" 10,000km away from Japan... WOOHOO!
-
Yep, so long as they stick to the facts... you should put that in massive capital letters so noobs don't forget! It's a pity the real damage comes as a result of ordinary people jumping to conclusions... things can get very one sided very quickly.
-
The only M-Spec is in the R34 range... all R33 turbo's are GTS25t Type M.
-
Thats awesome stuff as always Dino!
-
What does 'Neo' mean? Well, the Neo part is another of Nissans gems in the form of names for engines, along the same lines as 'PLASMA' and Toyota's 'BEAMS'... Neo = Nissan Ecology Oriented VVL = Variable Valve Lift (and timing) What the f*ck is 's' for? Aaaah, the 's' in RB25DETs is used to signify a plural...

Thanks Masa and Shaun. I'll be sure to check those places out. Actually theres a whole bunch of other stuff which I can't remember off the top of my head... girls stuff like Shu Uemura cosmetics and a good beauty salon thats good with the Japanese styles... hahaha I think one or two guys will know what I mean by that.
