    R31 Nismo Version

Yes, Nissan did put out a few R31 Skyline GTS Twin cam turbo Nismo's (phew..) The Nissan Skyline GTS NISMO Version: 1000 units were put on the market in commemoration of the 30th Skyline anniversary in February of 1987. Formal name:"Sports coupe GTS twin cam two door Skyline 24V turbo NISMO" (!!) There were 4 body colors: Dark blue # 111, Black # 532 (standard black is two-tone # 543), Crystal white # 326, and super-red # 526 and besides that, GTS emblems on the front grille were red and there were two tone special color in the interior, a steering wheel made by 'Italvolante' and a mono-form bucket seat (It was adopted for GTS-R seatbacks) are installed. Aluminum colored side stripe and 'Hartge' badges (including air conditioning) was a dealer option though the price of the vehicle was 2,847,000 yen (There was no consumption tax at that time in Japan). I spoke to my Uncle-in-law (in the car business here in Japan) and seems to think that the 'R32 Skyline GTS Nismo Version' came about because of weak R31 sales at the time, and even then the Nismo campaign was short lived. It wasn't until the GTS-R came along that Nissan got the desired sales/advertising it wanted. Specs: Model:E-HR31 Built: 87/02 ~ 87/07 Mission:(AT/MT/CVT)4AT/5MT/- Price (new - Yen)(AT/MT/CVT)2,951,000/2,487,000/- Doors:2 Drivetrain:FR Passengers:5 Length, Width, Height:(mm)4660x1690x1365 Wheelbase:(mm)2615 Interior Length, Width, Height:(mm)1825x1410x1135 Overall weight:(kg)(AT/MT/CVT)1360/1340/― Ground clearance:(mm)140 Turning radius:(m)4.9 Engine Type:DOHC 24 Valve water-cooled Inline 6 turbo intercooler Capacity:(cc)1998 Engine:RB20DET Induction:Turbo Environmental standards status:Uncertain Engine Maximum Power:(ps/rpm)(AT/MT/CVT)180/6400/180/6400/―/― Engine Maximum Torque:(kg-m/rpm)(AT/MT/CVT)23.0/3600/23.0/3600/―/― Front Suspension:Strut/Coil springs Rear Suspension:Semi-trailing arm/Coil springs Front Brakes:Ventilated Disk: Rear Brakes:Ventilated Disk Tire Size:205/60R15 Limited Slip Differential:(LSD)Standard Front Stabilizer:Standard Rear Stabilizer:Standard **Edit: Here's some scant info I got from R31 Freek: So one way to identify a Nismo R31 GTS Turbo would be the instrument cluster of course, also theres the obvious 'Nismo' sticker on the back of the car like this: ... but that would be easy to just slap on anyold R31 GTS-X or whatever. ***Edit: The car above has the factory optional 'Hartge pack' cosisting of bold aluminium colored stripe down both sides, Hartge badges and multi-spoke silver alloy wheels (Hartge). Realistically (and I say this bearing in mind that I'll probably never, ever see a real Nismo R31), the Nismo parts used in the R31 Nismo Version would consist of the above mentioned instrument cluster, an exhaust, spark plugs, stiffer shocks and lower springs, maybe a slightly different ROM tune and different interior fabric etc. Nothing major - bearing in mind what Nissan did with the R32 GT-R Nismo - I'd say that in order to maintain the factory warranty they were restricted somewhat. I just want to reiterate that hardly anyone has seen a Nismo R31 GTS Turbo here in Japan by the looks of it, so if one turns up at the auctions I would expect it to fetch over a million yen easily regardless of condition. Heres a guy with an R31 GTS -Nismo: From the exterior theres no real way of telling if it's legit or not, a quick Nissan FAST check will reveal all though. This guy is part of the 'ISLAND R31 Skyline Owners Club' and he's not the only one with a GTS - Nismo... link here: http://r31-skyline.web.infoseek.co.jp/repo...3,26/index2.htm The official brochure:

    I lost my job!

@ West: Cheers mate, but the journey is definately over... I'm now more in the mood to help Japanese (the cool ones hahaha) when they come to AU to live or study or whatever... kind of the next step? At any rate, one things for sure and that is *I don't wanna teach English ever again!* @ geno8r: There had to be an end to the reports from Japan sometime I guess. But I'll always have my contacts and friends here in Japan so it's not the absolute end. But as for the weekly updates etc... yeah, I'm gobnna have to find someone to replace me... if anyones up for that kind of thing??? @ Gojira: no worries moite, will def do something tomorrow. Will mail you.

Yep, the R32 in my sig... and maaaaybe an A31 Cefiro.
  7. So the 'Japanese way' is to ban all foreigners? This is rasicsm. Why not deal with the problem? Because dealing with the problem is too hard? It's like taking all the tables an chairs out of a restaurant because you want to make it a 'no smoking area'. No offence to you Masahiro, but that same logic reminds me of the time I went to get an apartment in Nishinakajima in north Osaka... I was refused tenancy on the grounds that I was NOT JAPANESE because... get this... the previous 'non-Japanese' tenants were Indian, and when they left, there was a curry smell in the apartment that hung around for 6 months! The reason they say "No foreigners" as opposed to "No Indians" is because they didn't want to be seen as rascist!!!! To me, this is typical Japanese segregation and 'group ideology'. Just because they (Japanese) all do it and get away with it, doesn't mean it's right. But this is the problem... the good foreigners embrace the Japanese culture and do our best to get along with everybody, but we're still stereotyped. All this does is promote a deep down feeling of true 'alienation' no matter how long you stay here. It does cause offence even if a nice old Japanese lady gives me homemade maki zushi or not.Masahiro, I do agree with what you say from a Japanese perspective, I've had enough experience to understand explicitly why you say what you do, but from an international perspective, it just doesn't stand up. It's not so much the actions I'm talking about (like rascism toward blacks in the US) but the ideology and stigma that surrounds foreigners in Japan. It's too much for me so I'm leaving. I'd rather live in a less safe place (AU) and feel a part of the local community than live in good 'ol safe Japan and be a 'novelty resident'...
  8. ^^^ They're trying to keep the 'lineage' going... if only in a verbal way. I've never before heard of Nissan selling out like this. The Fairlady Z is a different story, they were always the focus in Nth America. But to have Japans one and only Skyline get its formula ripped up and a new one made up written with a Parker pen (figuratively) is messing around too much IMO.

    I lost my job!

Hmmmm, who might that be? No seriously, is there any Aussie around that would have the time and patience to do such a thing? I'm either going to go to Perth (family) or Brisbane (work). I'd prfer to go to Perth obviously, but in Brisbane a good friend of mine is setting up a company so I'd really like to be a part of that. Yes, a Japanese automotive orientated company

    I lost my job!

To cut a long story short I've been made 'redundant'... suddenly. I had NO IDEA that the company was in such bad shape. Well, I also just learnt that my boss has fled the country!??! It's the strangest situation... but I'm not cut in the slightest as I was really getting tired of teaching anyway. Well, it seems this is the time to make a final exit from Japan, I'll probably hang around for another month or so, then it's back to AU for me! Woohoo! :bananaman I don't want to let fly what I'll do in AU just yet so as not to give myself bad luck or anything (touch wood).
  11. I just say 'Japanese' all the time, every time. No probs there and no one can accuse me of being lazy
  12. No I don't agree. 'Gaijin' is (in part) derogatory... if it weren't, then why don't our Japanese staff ever use it when talking about foreigners? Even when they're talking amongst themselves (and not using 'keigo' - polite language) they still use 'gaikokujin' in order *not* to offend... I've asked them this more than a few times and they specifically don't want to use 'gaijin'. This all happens with me in earshot by they way... if I was out of the room though, I'm sure gaijin would soon pop up (in a non-derogatory sense). This happens on a daily basis for me and I think it might best describe the situation.
  13. I've heard 'gaijin' being used as a derogatory term here too many times for it to be considered just a shortened word and nothing more... although I do agree for the most part that it is just a shortened noun due to what totoro pointed out with the Japanese being 'word shortening masters'. If I had to classify it as something (in an 'on the street' context) I'd have to say that the term gaijin is derogatory. Gaikokujin on the other hand would be neutral.
  14. Wrong way around there mate 'Gaijin' is the rude shortened disrespectful term and 'gaikokujin' is the full term which is neutral.

  16. REPOST. Sorry Shan, that story came out last year... and it was probably in retaliation to the '2006 Skyline does not go V8' thread.
  17. Americans have to crash Japanese sportscars... it's in their constitution. I hope he's ok, and I hope he learns his lesson nd sticks to FF Chrysler Neons.
  18. BMWs or Mercedes on the other hand will have them scrambling for the doorhandles... just make sure you've got a nice apartment to back it up
  19. I was gonna say it sounds Jamaican...
  20. Can't find Blit's directions by using the serach function... I think it's broken? Maybe PM Blitz or mmmgtir as those guys are well experienced with getting to shops around Tokyo.
  21. It says: "Whats this? Everythings in English!!!" ^^^ Very weird this being an Australian site and all...
  22. I think Blitz posted up detailed directions on how to get to SuperAB Tokyo Bay? Do a search, I'm sure it wasn't that long ago...
  23. Have a look here: http://www.7tune.com/skyline_001.html The pics shown there are almost exactly the same as the ones posted in the 'sticky' topic.
  24. ^^^ Is it real??? I was under the impression those vids were done totally with the girls consent, they're all over 18 and were paid for the 'experience'? Just like those fake Japanese 'rape' videos? This is just what I've been told...
