A 4WD XR6 Turbo would probably weigh in at 2 ton... not my idea of GT-R smashing performance. In a straight line? Ok, but that car would be stupid on a circuit.
-
Ok, ok... I've solved it. Common knowledge has it that the R34 GT-V Series 1 was available in Bayside Blue as a 'special color edition' as of January 2000. What people don't know is that the Series 1 GT-T *could also be ordered* with Bayside Blue from January 2000 but wasn't advertised as strongly as the GT-V (had to sell more 25GT's at the time hence the GT-V variant? I don't know). The Bayside blue color was also available for the Stagea... now this color is extremely rare on a Stagea. The Series 2 R34 Skylines could all be ordered with Bayside Blue, somewhat decreasing it's unique status. Your car is an ordinary R34 25GT Turbo but with a funky color...
-
Thats wrong. The 'GT-V' non-turbo versions were made from August 2000 to May 2001. Aparently, the 'Bayside Blue' option was such a strong selling point for the GT-V model, that Nissan decided to make the color available for all the R34 models, and even the Stagea at the time. But you say your car was made in *January* 2000? Hmmm... maybe your cars has been resprayed? Whats the paint code on the built plate in the engine bay? Are there any signs that the car could've been resprayed? You could even have a model that was sold to an employee who had the special color applied as a one off (only to have it released as a stock color lol)... but thats a long shot, and not worthy of increasing the 'selling price' if you know what I mean

What I don't get is that me and other Japan residents have been saying the V35 Skyline was an excellent car (as opposed to the 'naysayers' on here - just by looking at pics ffs) for years and now suddenly it takes some dude to go to the US then post up "the G35 rawks yo!" then all you guys jump on the bandwagon... Bovine poo poo.

Laurence and I will be there from about 9am... Adam we'll see you there.

The 'Super pineapples' are second from top... 5mm thicker than the regular pineapples, you can tell easily if you've got super pineapples as they don't have the ridge around the circumference like the regular pinapples do.

If you can get to JR Ashiya station (on the JR Kobe line) by 8 o'clockish and can chip in some money for toll (I'm skint mate) I'll take you
-
4 hours? Ouch... It takes me an hour or so on the Chugoku expressway... the benefits of living in Hyogo I guess
-
Hey Adam I PM'd you already... but I don't know... I'll let you know if I can get out there. What time will you get there?

Looks more like a customer car?? You're right, it's probably been raced at some stage - drag or circuit. But I've never heard of Auto Position and a preliminary seach came up with nothing... it could very well be a small operation with a group of strong supporters or customers.

I replaced my switch because of the exact same problem... with a genuine Nissan switch setting me back about A$150!
-
LOL... good call.

Seriously, the Japanese guys do EXACTLY the same thing in the pits as what they do in AU. Theres not magic or wierd sh!t going on... Having said that, I don't have a drift pic, but I've got a circuit time trial event? Would that suffice?

I guess it all boils down to: *not* teaching English is a gross misallocation of skills for a foreign Native English speaker in Japan ( lol), so all other avenues other than teaching English are in the 'good on you if you can' basket.

You could hand out flyers... LOL. Seriously, theres **minimal** IT work around Osaka, but generally it's nothing more than a month or 2 month stints then onto the next job (provided there is one). In fact, if you can't speak/read fluent Japanese, you're pretty much screwed from the start. Theres one American dude here doing all the IT work for our English School and we've employed him for the last 3 months part-time... he can't really speak or read Japanese... but then again, we don't NEED him to. It'd be way different in any other workplace. Eeeerm, modelling work? (no joke)... or being an extra for short film or TV commercials? Like Andrew akeenan said, you can work anywhere if your Japanese skill is good enough, but that opens up the 'damned if you do' element where you're treated eeeerm... 'like a foreigner'... because you're not Japanese. No acceptance is bad in the workplace in a Japanese company just ask Evo_Lee

Yeah, $400 is by plane I'd imagine... It *might* be $50 - 100 cheaper if you send it by ship, but then you'd have to wait 2 - 3 weeks for it to arrive, maybe more. But at the end of the day you're still paying at least $100 or more for the exhaust, then at least $200 odd dollars for shipping. Save yourself the hassle and drop $100 on a car dealer willing to let you 'borrow' their GT-T exhaust for a day or two... it's just for compliance isn't it?

You didn't see 'M-Spec' you saw 'Type M'... the only 'M-Spec' available is for the R34 GT-R M-Spec. ALL R33 GTS25t's are *Type M* (it's R32 GTS-t Type M too).

I posted this in the Photo Diary, but I thought they might get lost up there... so: Here we go... I got the trusty Nikon D70 out again: This night shots is a bit vouyeristic... a young lady waiting for the train. A 300mm zoomed shot 30 sec exposure at f22 with low fluoro lighting white balance adjustment. Oh... it's a HotWorks Factory 1/24th scale BNR34 Nissan Skyline GT-R Z-Tune. Good timing eh? Hankyu trains passing each other on the Kobe line about 100m east of Hankyu Ashiyagawa station. Random shot. While I was taking the train shot, these choppers were circling overhead... Some nighttime shots from the 6th floor roof of my apartment building. Try and guess the scale of this Calsonic Skyline GT-R JGTC race car...

Your problems gonna be size/weight. It might cost in the region of A$150 - 200 to get it to AU (by EMS or similar)... then theres the eeerm... $50 - 100 fee that I'd need to source an exhaust system then package and lug the thing down to the Post Office. It's not the type of thing you can just 'do on a casual Sunday arvo' you know? Can't you find one in AU? They must be a dime a dozen down there. Alternatively you could put it in a container full of other cars/parts and pay nothing, but I don't have a container going to AU anytime soon

What do you mean they get 'butchered'? Do you mean that when they comply the car they remove the HID's??? If thats the case that is bloody crazy. Talk about backward.
-
^^^ 'M-Spec' is for R34 GT-R versions only. R32's are 'Type M'
-
Do you drive a manual or an automatic car?
Rezz replied to TracidTrax's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Manual here... I can't drive automatics because I only have a manual license -
Beeeep! Wrong. The Type M was available from May 1989 to July 1993. I've PM'd funkymonkey to change his post.

I just went back and re-read the 'Getting out of Japan' thread and...well... I feel a bit guilty of 'sensationalizing' the bad situation I've been going through. Let's get one thing straight: I haven't grown to despise Japan. Far from it. It's just that some days you really wonder what the hell you're doing here. But thats far from the whole picture, and thats what I want to do with this thread - give a balanced view and start focusing on some of the nice things about the place. A total about face from 2 weeks ago (I know trust me) but I don't want to be seen as someone who's come here and just made a mess of things and gone home with just a bad view of the place. Some nice things that have happened in the last week: [/size] - An old Japanese salaryman walked into an elevator and pressed the button to go up while I ran from about 10 meters back to catch the same elevator. Just as the doors closed I tapped the button to open the doors - which they did amazingly - and as I walked in the old salaryman said in broken English "I'm so sorry, mienakatta... I dodn't see you". Cheers muchly mate - It cost me a total of 7,700 yen (A$91) to get a new battery installed, 5L of oil, Oil filter, with the oil and oil filter changed AND a full mechanical check all in 20 minutes flat... at SuperAutobacs Sunshine wharf in Kobe. - I got a postcard from Okayama prefecture from one of my old students who came with me to Perth last year for a homestay at my parents house saying how she missed taking my class and she thinks about the trip to Perth every day. She drew a picture of the Perth city skyline which (if you know Perth) has the 'Bankwest Tower' included next to 'Central Park Tower'... very sweet of her to do something like that. - My boss has helped me out. Not going into this but lets just say it's like what 'Hansel' said on Zoolander: "changed my whole perspective on sh!t..." - My mother-in-law passed the 'Jistuyou Eiken' (practical English) test at level 5... way to go mum... hahaha SHE bought ME a present for it aswell  don't I feel special Theres other stuff too, but the point is that theres good and theres bad and I'll never be so negative about Japan ever again. If I offended anyone out there, please accept my apology. Anyone else got any positive stuff about Japan to add?
