  1. Sure, be happy to tell you however I have not had a chance to drive it very much as yet. Gearchange: perhaps a bit smoother than before, no pops or splutters between gears especially downchanging. Drops back to idle between gears nicely doesn't even hesitate as soon as you engage the clutch and take your foot off the throttle. Cold start: very quick to find idle, goes down in stages and once it is warm will sit at 750-800rpm. Flick the air-con on and within a couple of seconds its idling again smoothly. Same with dry steering, turning lights on, etc. Warm start: have not done many will let you know. Fuel economy: something I am interested to find out too, I will fill the tank up on the weekend and drive her "normally" until its empty. Basically with any auxillary funtion on it is fine. You would not really notice the difference in that regard to the standard computer. Standard ecus are so well engineered (as car manufacturers have possibly millions of dollars to invest in R & D and engineering). For an aftermarket ecu to be better than standard is brilliant. So, knowing this I was aware of any differences between the standard ecu and the Vipec V88. I drove it to work today so I could try and find things that I didn't like and so far I havent but it is early days. One thing I would like to say is that I would love to put someone in two different GTR's, one with AFMs and one using MAP. In terms of drivability you can argue the toss until you go blue in the face, there is no obvious difference. In terms of the things that you have mentioned Paul (ie. fuel economy etc) I am not so sure yet. This is my opinion, so those who kiss there AFMs goodnight before they go to bed don't get upset at what I just said. Anyway, so far I am very happy, a lot of time went into the tuning as far as I know I am the first in SA to have a V88 on a R33 GTR. Will keep anyone who is interested up to date, if you want to get into more detail PM me. Mike
  2. I didn't think they were compatible for Vspec GTR's, I am sure I have read that before some where. Anyone else confirm?
  3. Finally got my R33 GTR tuned with a Vipec V88 and I have to say I am very pleased, 40kW gain over the standard computer. You can clearly see the correlation of cleaning up the AFM with the gain in power. Full credit to Brett at Graham West Workshops. I can not recommend him enough, he is very thorough with his work and takes a no BS approach. Very knowledgable when it comes to tuning! I can't wait to see what it is like to drive, pick it up tonight. But for now here is the dyno-graph: V88_GTR.pdf
  4. Just went and saw my tuner last night I am having a V88 installed on my R33 GTR. So far has just tuned for idle and cold start and I am already impressed. Punch the throttle and it goes back to idle smoothly, sits on about 800rpm and sounds great. Software looks good too, really easy to understand. A day or so on the dyno now and hopefully I will get it back. Excited! Big Mike
  5. Seems like this is turned into "RHD is awesome" thread. So, I would just like to add I agree, great prices and customer service. I ordered a Nismo fuel pump for my R33 GTR and there was an issue with the cost (two different prices... etc). Anyway, they were right onto it and sorted it out ASAP. Great stuff.
  6. Martin Donnan from Willall Racing in Adelaide is the guy I reckon your thinking of. I overheard a conversation between him and some others at a race day at Mallala regarding this new E85 fuel.
  7. Seems like good reports. I can't wait. My car goes in on Wednesday to have a Vipec V88 installed and tuned (all going to plan) Will post a before and after dyno-graph too!
  8. Hi, saw 24U stamped on a panel behind the rear seat in my R33 GTR Vspec, wondering if this is a random N1 part? Or I have more? Thought I may as well check the VIN, 6U900BCNR33002877 Thanks, Big Mike
  9. That makes sense also. This weekend will have to have a bit of a snoop and find out what the story is anyway. Thanks for all the help so far guys, will post any updates. Big Mike
  10. Awesome, cheers mate. Yeah I got pretty much stock everything, so might have to dismantle some of intake pipes to the turbos and get in and have a peek with a torch. Learning stuff all the time on this car thats for sure. Thanks for your help thus far!
  11. Definately 24U on the plate. Ok, thats gone over my head, how do I access to this "nissan fast software"? Thanks, Big Mike
  12. Hey all, Took the seats out of my R33 GTR Vspec the other day (long story) and on the removable plate (where you can get access to the ecu etc) it has 24U stamped on it. I knew it meant something to do with the engine number however for some reason I though that 05U was associated with the N1 block, which is obviously incorrect. So, I have 24U stamped on the access panel behind my rear seats... should I get my hopes up? Where should I poke around under the bonnet with a torch to check? Cheers, Big Mike
  13. rhdjapan.com have the 400R bumpers listed on their site i was looking at them the other day. Big Mike
  14. apologies "Got Boost?" i dont mean to hijack... would love to know where the access panel is to get to the fuel tank for an R33 GTR... in the boot?
  15. Great thread, can see this getting a bit heated, so I will add my bit I can see some people getting excited wanting to do some calcs on this. It is easy to apply basic stress theories to this stuff but for engine components it is very difficult to get an accurate answer. I mean, you can't even represent an engine cycle on paper without delving into some of the most complicated thermodynamics known to man! Any answer you get will be very "approximate". Don't neglect temperature as being one of the most critical factors in the life of internal engine components. You have to factor in the growth of the component and changes in material properties due to high/low temperature changes. Each component has different metallugical compositions which would cause the materials properties to change at different temps... talk about a can of worms. Anyway, good luck to who ever wants to have a crack. Big Mike
  16. hey mate, yours the white r33 gts that raced?
  17. My uncle is installing it on his 500kW (at the wheels) Corvette. He is quite positive it will help him get some traction around Malalla as at the moment he has very little! Will let you know how he goes
  18. i would not mind paying a little more due to the knock control... i can justify it. i would rather the ecu take over and protect my engine rather than look at a flashing screen that says some bad s....t is happening. also i found a couple of threads the other day with people asking how to read the knock levels on a PFC. having it display knock as a numerical value means jack if somone doesnt know what the hell it is!!!! at the end of the day everyone likes something that is cheap and if they have been using it for so long will not wont to change... i think some people call that ignorance
  19. hell yeah.... 4 weeks to gather funds, V88 looks like the go (with the options)
  20. any closer to a firm release date? are there any prelim. results based on testing TF electronics have done using the V44 or V88 that we can see?
  21. trust power evolution II, 3.75" cat back (with cat replacement pipe) and about as loud as you would want, got one on my r33 gtr however, i chose it because of its large diameter and eventually when i want more power it will still let the engine breathe. you should probably put some more thought into choosing a system rather than being as loud as you can get Big Mike
  22. come on man your killing us (and i bet your enjoying it slightly) out with it...
