  1. nice, you still get a bit of wheel spin but not this bad, also for OP in car of launch, OS box so does nearly 100kph in 1st, lots of wheel spin=slow time GTRpowa, Jim will tell you all about launches and broken boxes BoostdR what clutch/clutches did you use with all those broken boxes, heavy singles?
  2. gripped and went -- nice, got to get mickey t's, all i get is wheel spin, os box also, but standard diffs, gearbox everything on last gtr, must have launched 60-80 times never broke anything, who has broken 1st gear or diffs in a GTR ( R33 ) with not much more than standard power ??
  3. went to take the fuel cap off the other day and the whole thing turned and came out, just the bit the cap screws into. been to a couple of auto shops this morning and nobody knows what to use to clue (silocone or whatever ) it back in that will be petrol tolerant and not break down, anyone had this , got any ideas ??
  4. Its basicaly the same drive train as an R33 GTR isn't it ? In which case shouldn't be a problem, limiter launched my R33 GTR countless time with that power and more, on semi's and never broke anything doing that. now read the dissclaimer !! there is NO garantees go for it, it's awesome
  5. cheers, thats what I'll probably end up doing, try and save some cash and maybe learn a thing or two along the way..
  6. yeah i know, can't really say until it comes apart, just chasing ball parks, got a bit of a shock when the first price I got for the above job was $6500+ and that was if they didn't find anything else, ( thats a perth price )
  7. that does sound reasonable, what state are you in ? ( part of the country, not mentally )
  8. looks like I voted in the "built engine failure" too early. althou this looks to be tune or fuel or something? only just click over 10k, recent tune to 700awhp HKS 2.8L CP pistons, TO4Z long story short, noticed engine using oil, even after changing to a thinker oil, #6 plug oily , #1 white ?? got compression and leakdown tests compression (psi) 135, 135, 130, 130, 135, 130 Leakdown (%) 8, 6, 5, 5, 6, 10, also had a look with the scope, can see #6 has some pitting damage from pinging? (detonation? ) the other pistons look ok ( from the top), so looks like at least 1 new piston. not sure whats going on with #1 ? in the leakdown. anyway this was supposed to be a short story. If I was to pull the motor out, take the head off etc and just drop off the bottom end, to be stripped and rebuilt with new pistons ( lets just say we go for 6 new pistons, not sure what else would need replacing? bearings etc? ) the main Question from all this is, what is a reasonable price to pay for this job ??? assuming everything else is still serviceable .
  9. yep this is exactly the same thing I think I described in your thread.. OP you've spot welded your clutch plate to your fly wheel, done it heaps of times with jims clutches and surprise surprise another broken a gearbox with one of these clutches anyway put it in first, start it ( it will lerch forward but will start) put your foot on the clutch take it up into the boost zone and nail it. it will brake free. but after that many kms the clutch could be stuffed anyway, but maybe not if you've only done 6 launches (think I read that) the welding thing happens when you slip the clutch for too long and it gets really hot
  10. yeah thats the plan
  11. just got the drive shaft loop form Thunder performance shop, . get it bolted in and I'm back, maybe next week, do a 10 get sent home again and then it'll be finished, don't think I'll cage it..
  12. 11.5@125mph
  13. yeah well the no response was right, I was the only Skyline to run last night.. 1 run= go home didn't even get to turn the boost up and let the tyres down, 47degree track temps didn't help either .. need a drive shaft hoop, anyone know where to get one ? is it just bolt in ?
  14. If all goes well with a little tune brush up (couple more psi) this morning I'm heading down to do a few runs, anyone else draging tonight?
  15. behind the wheel finally see you there
  16. CEVA Logistics about $1000 in its own container and insured, done it twice no problems
  17. this happened to me a dozen times with an extreme clutch welded clutch plate to flywheel, push it out onto the street, start it in first (it will obviously jump forward and go but it will start) put your foot on the clutch take it up into the boost zone and nail it.. as it comes on boost it will break free, worked every time for me.. always leaves a bit of ruff stuff on the flywheel but that smooths out after a short drive with a couple quiet take offs slipping the clutch a little. when I took the out it had chunks missing from the carbonic pads obviously broken off from welding. good luck with clutch
  18. ^+1 R33 GTR 2.8L TO4Z - OS box launches & 2nd 50-130 800+hp
  19. yeah a little input would've helped, I think I have the source sorted now not that tricky really see you there?
  20. I'm in, I think it is going to be run in the opposite direction this time..
  21. on the second to last line of comments it says: "results are high for oil in-service time, but consistent with equipment run-in" doesn't that say it all, the engine is 7 days old? you need to test again in so many km's to obtain a trend. I've had my oil tested, on a new engine and whoever does the testing should be able to explain everything, don't think you can say its stuffed from one test.
  22. holy shit 12 , if you are running the power in your sig. with antilag, I can't see how oil is saving the box, but I know guys with around 600rwhp and standard boxes, they have broken them too but cheap to get a second hand one compared to OS etc, they do change a bit softer now .. the OP is looking at 800hp I don't think a standard box with Redline oil is the answer.
  23. nah I'm sure any sequential would be awesome, lightning fast changes , are they all dog engagement? could be quite a bit of up keep-maintenance, on the down side...
  24. yep still H pattern, same as normal except for a longer 1st gear, which combined with a triple plate solid centre clutch can be a bitch on hill starts and in traffic another I know with similar figures uses a ppg dogbox but doesn't seem to last long between rebuilds and obviously not ideal for the street.. decisions decisions ?? if you can afford it get the hollinger sequential .
  25. I'm running the OS 1st-5th and OS 3CS triple with 800hp, all good
