well that sucks, and sound expensive, here's Bruce launching in the video below, listen to the noise, I love it ,unfortunately the later runs in the dark didn't come out very well, so only posted up this one which I cocked up at the end ( don't know how I got that wrong in the heat of the moment ) could have done with a word from the co-driver ( my Dad ) this was the first run, and slowest obviously. anyway you'll get an idea of the course.

those pesky Evo's yeah I was right after Bruce with camera on so should have some good footage of his launches f### that thing sounds wicked off the line blazing 4 wheels, can't wait to watch the footage tonight.. stay tuned

I would be very surprised if it would cost anywhere near $1000 to freight a block to the US from Oz, just find someone who imports or anything from Oz , it only costs us $2500US for an entire 20ft container from UK.. my 2cents

night went well, pretty fast course, over 200kms in a couple of spots ( they were the only times I look down ) hard to see some of the corners in the dark, and a bit slippery on street tyres, but a shit load of fun, a few incidents more left on trailers than came on them and a lot came on them, thought I was doing alright until I found out the sticky tyred, caged up Evos were 10 seconds quicker than my 2mins 35sec, I'll post up some videos when I have a chance the edit it tonight maybe..

I've seen those things before, co-driving that will be a blast. they look insane how fast they turn and go, might bring the kids down for look..

I would have thought no thermostat would just mean it takes a lot longer to warm up which isn't a good think, If its a daily I would deffinately put one in..

Mate I'm not on no diet, and remember its a GTR so no light weight but yeah no point carrying more than you have to, I'll be taking the spare out but thats about it.. did you get your turbo sorted after Shannons, that hurts, to have to pull out first thing, after shelling out $600 for the day??
-
wow you guys are hard core
-
yeah as above, if $40k is your drive in drive out budget, I don't think you'll cut it, I bought a car with a 2.8L and big single and guy gave me receipts for $50+ including a second hand OS gear set which you will need at least. It now has a TO4Z .84 which I think would be a better size, not too much lag. Having seen the RIPS packages and the dollar, you should have a good look over there. good luck

Yeah it'll be Will, bugger we'll be in the same class, doesn't look like it matters if you run semis or not.. oh well I'll have to try and make up some time on the straights. as for the course, if you've ever done any of the little motorkana courses down there, apparently its all them joined up, including that little goat track between the strip and the roads over the back I'll let you know after thursday..

if you've got any queries don't be shy to email Dieter he's been more than happy to answer questions. his details are on the website in regs 3.5km course will be good, nice long one, hoping to do them all..

there was 29 entrants, couple of DNS due to blown turbo etc, everyone had to do at least 5 runs, pretty sure everyone stayed until the end, maybe some were having dinner or something, last runs were at about 9.40.. think quite a few knocked out 3 or 4 runs early, had a break them did another 1 or 2 later, thats what I did at least..
-
yeah i didn't see you up there GTS-t VSPEC ( or Paul if thats you ) yep Peter Major won outright in the Time Attack EVO 10 Chris won the the Limited in his GTR, I came second to an Evo 9 in the street, he did a 55.7 on street tyres which is bloody good, the best come manage was 56.2.. great night, highly recommend it to anyone, lots of different classes and cars

ok I get it. just bypasses the cooler until up to temp, shit that means redoing all the braided lines, what a bitch of a job, so tight in there.. IF I could just buy the relocator blocks separately, is the thermostat in the filter block or the one bolted to the block?? either way it would be easier to just change out one of them.. anyone know who might sell them individually ? thinking about it, it must be in the one on the block so that it still circulates oil until it opens up and goes to the cooler, filter relocator etc? right?
-
$100 for thermostat plus $50 each for -12 fittings is getting pricey but I think I need one takes like 15 minutes to get to 70-75 just sitting there idling with about 8 litres of oil ! sump extention plus relocator plus cooler = a lot of oil to heat as for Mocal I just bought and waited ages for mocal sandwich plate with thermostat and -12 fittings so I didn't have to do the relocator, to keep the pipe work to a minimum. got it and there is no way it will fit an RB26, one of the takeoffs runs straight into the engine mount, there is just no way it could fit! so theres $200 down the toilet, for sale if someone wants to have a crack. I need a thermostat with -12 fittings as that is what all my braid line and cooler blocks etc run, there is one on the summiracing site, but why does it have 2 inlets and 2 outlets wouldn't I just need 1 each way to go between the block and filter relocator??

yeah I am still relying on the factory gauge, I know I need to get an after market one, but it reads a lot lower than it was before I put the cooler on so I know it is cool, only just sitting on the 70 when it used to be quite a way above that. And I'm not sure about a cover as it sits in front of the radiator, so would effectively block half the radiator? I think the inline thermastat and after market oil temp gauge is the next course of action..
-
before I start searching, any idea where I could get one? P.S. thanks Scotty for the obove posts
-
yeah thats what I need, where did you get yours from and do you reckon they would sell just the filter block with thermostat in
-
I'm pretty sure it all the usual thermostats, but does take an awful long time to warm up, what other thermostat are you talking about
-
ha guys just installed a oil cooler between the radiator and intercooler to control oil temp mainly on the track, but it works really well and on the street after 30 minutes driving, some hard stuff, oil temp is only about 75, before cooler would be 90+, oil is mobil 1 , 0-40 So question is, is an operating temp of 70-80 degrees ok, I'm sure it will be hotter on the track..
