  1. just had to make my own adaptor to go from 90mm to 120mm v-band to v-band, don't know if anyone currently makes these.. garrett told me it would be a custom item.....

  3. I've installed a new turbo and I don't want to stuff this up.. So I've only run the car a few times for around 3 minutes each time from idle to2500rpm in the coolant bleed process,, the exhaust side of the turbo get so hot it starts to smoke a little ( from the outside of the snail ) I thought maybe its just burning off some coating or oil or something that it has on it from garrett...???? is this normal ???
  4. Its got a hypertune plenum, so no bleed, don't think.. so I'm going with Jonno"s idea, jack the front etc cheers

Just finished the install of the new TO4Z on my R33 GTR, so a couple of questions : first off, the turbo that came of was a Turbonetics GTK850, which was oil only, so I had to drop the coolant and tap in some water lines, do I need to purge the cooling system for any air pockets? & if so, how? secondly, is it ok to drive before I get a new tune done, the GTK850 was a monster compared to the TO4, or is it only ok to drive like nana to the dyno for the tune? so what do the wise heads on here say
  7. do you have the bracket that holds the A/C pump, braces off the motor with a belt tensioner on it also ?? if so $? sent to perth 6053 also need passengers side front indicator cheers
  8. can somebody tell me if the bracket that holds the a/c compressor in place, braces off the block and has tensioner on it also, is the same on R33 GTR & GTS because I need one and its easier to get a GTS one from the wreckers than find a GTR one ???

  10. A. its still a street car so I'm not going to bet all the stripped out Evos, mainly there for a bit of fun, but don't want to have to wait for boost out of tight corners...

  12. thanks Disco well I have 2.8L to help low down.. as far as budget.. the motor is new and all setup for big single, so thats all I want to do at this point, just replace the cooked one thats on it. I'll look intothe GT4088R, but it also comes down to if it will bolt up to what I already have which is I think a split X-force manifold & about a 4inch V-band dump.. anyway Disco what are the specs on the GT4088R I would be looking at for 600+rwhp + best response ( rear etc )
  13. Hi Jon, yeah I can get a TO4 with same flange etc so i shouldn't need to change anything, the rear is, I thing its called V band, anyway everything should match up.. it'll be a good test mule for your setup if you decide to change...
  14. yeah its a 2.8L those figures look spot on ! thats nice response for that power-- might lose a bit with the manifold, think its a X-force, but have big external gate.. how much difference would the 6-boost make ? and how much $?

Ha Disco, so you reckon the GT4088R would be better at that power--any examples All this compressor size A/R ? rear housing,, etc etc .. is making my head spin, I just want someone who knows there shit ( about turbos ) to say " for that power with good response you need #### turbo" even the workshops I've spoken to contradict eachother ?? for those reasons I'll probly end up with a "stone age" TO4Z, because at least I can see some good results in the dyno thread.........
  16. thanks for all the input guys, looks like theres still some debate over rear housing sizes and what they are capable of ?? there seems to be quite a few getting 600rwhp from the .83 garrett, so I'm inclined to try that first.. If it doesn't come up to the mark is it as simple as just changing the rear housing to a bigger one ??

Ha Jon, can rebuild the turbonetics with a new oil and water cartridge for about 1200, but thought that might be a good opportunity to change, seen some good results from the TO4Z'S @ OR AROUND 600RWHP, I think thats about what the turbonetics GT-K850 was putting out at 24psi, and maybe better response from the TO4 !? either way you'll see it next track night
  18. whats your experiences with TO4Z , I'm thinking of getting one and I've been hearing different things.... I'm chase a turbo for 600+rwhp with as good a response as you could expect, which rear housing.. etc theres million different TO4Z's, .......... on a 2.8L with 272 jun 10.8 cams which one ????? I've been reading the dyno threads etc but not everyone says what TO4Z they are using ??
  19. thanks again Its a GTK-850 ( ceramic BB ?? ) I'll have to find out from the engine builder if he drilled out the oil feed.. I take it from what you are saying the standard size feed line is inadequate for this turbo ? it was running 24psi @ 760hp at the motor.. I'll have to find out where it was purchased,, I bought this setup immediately after it was finished, now to sort out the gremlins cheers
  20. ok,,, asuming its the turbo seal, how bigger job is it ?? thinking I might do it, just so I can rule it out,, sick of leaving everywhere in a cloud of smoke
  21. thanks Stao, no wasn't like that from install, just started, and engine isn't overfill.. to check shaft play, is it as simple as pulling off the pipe off the front of the turbo that goes to the intercooler, and check for shaft play in there, or is it turbo out job ? wouldn't have thought oil starvation, its got a Jun oil pump which sits at 4 bar even at idle ( well 4 on the standard oil pressure gauge, not sure if thats bar ) but you agree its likely to be turbo rather than engine ?
  22. as the title says its a turbonetics 850 turbo, with less than 5000kms on it, and currently only 18psi... it only seems to blow blue smoke if I start it with in 0-20 minutes of turning it off, while everything is still warm,, if its been sitting for an hour or two or over night it doesn't, and don't think its blowing any on normal driving or under boost, does this sound like turbo seal?? I'm thinking its turbo seal because when its cold then the exhaust is'nt hot enough to burn off what little oil has leaked out straight away, and maybe just burnds it off slowly as it warms up without me noticing, ??? if it was valve stems leaking I would expect it to smoke in the morning and after an hour or two when cold as well ??
  23. my old GTR R33 with 400rwhp did 4.5 seconds consistantly with ok launch, I would be surprised if theres not some high pwered ones doing sub 4's the new GTR only has @370kw and does it in 3.7
  24. I've done the search also and came up with f### all I want to know if they are completely interchangable for different reasons.. so can you just bolt up a R32 GTR box to a R33 GTR and vice versa, are they identical externally ??
