  1. yeah its not just you, had one in for over a year and still like that sometimes. With the sort of clamp some of these have you need alot of clutch control at times.. can smooth out a bit after a couple of launches
  2. Trying find advise on balancers, just took delivery of an R33 GTR with step 2 HKS crank 2.8 etc etc ( SLY33's you may know of it ) took it in to get tuned, and noticed its only got 5",600hp drag-400hp street ATI balancer ( thats what it says on it ) engine is well into 700hp's, shop said I need bigger one ?? $1000 ?? seems to make sense, but spoke to guy that built it, and said that one would be fine ?? any pearls ??

no limits are good, thats basicly race against the clock with a leader board.... also check out www.classicrally.com.au they do some good events, did the fadcar challenge last year, was heaps of fun. 24 different stages in one day !! now I'm doing the Transcore challenge--next month, entrys still open.. 2 whole days of events....

  6. you say barely used, how many km's & what boost were they running ? I take it shipping at your cost ?
  7. thats when it slips, under load, sounds like clutch
  8. yeah not sure about that......... the ATTESSA is allways primed and doesn't wait until the rears lose traction, it's also controlled by the G sensor so the second the car moves from a stand still the fronts are ingaged ( to the max if your launching ) so as soon as you start coming off the clutch the front torque split gauge goes straight up.... so I would say there is a lot more stress and wear on the clutch in a GTR than a RWD car.. anyway thats my understanding..........
  9. only one destroyed , hard to say what went first clutch or gearbox, the others have just worn out------do fare bit of track work, events ( lots of launching out of the box ) 1/4 mile runs ( more launching ) and just general driving.. was told my old exedy twin just wore out due to driving in traffic.. as for install, first three done at reputable workshops , last one by me
  10. thanks...just read most of the Twin plate thread...interesting think I'm going to get an NPC custom twin.cheaper and you can talk to the guy whos making it.. cheers
  11. where are you going to post up your results --- very interested to see how low you can go!!!
  12. thanks guys, sounds like NPC know what they are doing... will call Doug back and get me one.... still trying to get head around 9 seconds-------------- respect
  13. only a single.... launchs, drivability ?? do you know if they are like the Jim Berry ones which have mega clamp like the one I have now with 4200lbs clamp, feels like a sledgehammer hitting the drivetrain ?
  14. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with the NPC range of twin plates.......... or what about nismo coppermix twins are they rebuildable ???
  15. hey Smoky, you got any handles to go with those jacks???????
  16. here we go again.....a bit of history......had car ( r33 GTR just under 400rwhp) for three years and about to put in my fourth clutch.. first one was twin plate exedy, liked it and it drove nice but only lasted 1 year, at $2500 + labour , didn't want to do that ever year, so I asked on here and rang Jim Berry- thought he was the answer so got heavy single, installed, ran in than on the first hard change to 2nd smashed clutch and gearbox (turns out it was an r32 clutch revamped with mega clamp ) Jim sent me a new one( r33 this time) which I put in not having $$ ( after replacing gearbox etc ) to buy another clutch.. anyway after a year of it shuddering and welding itself to the flywheel I think its shagged too.. ANYWAY please don't suggest another Jim Berry, I'm not put another one in !!!! not here to bag Jim, he's a good guy, his clutches just haven't worked for me........... I drive it quite a bit, about 15000km a year including once a month up the track about 30-40 hard laps each time aswell as other 1 and 2 day events ( motokana type stuff ) quite abit of launching, quarter miles etc and drive almost daily.... well there is the history and requirements, can anyone from experience tell me if any of the following will stand up to that and last more than a year ( or is that just asking to much ) or at least give me your experience with them...... NPC twin -- like the sound of these,,custom made and totally rebuildable with cheap off the shelf parts......?? @ $2200 Nismo coppermix -- read some good reveiws but how long do they last and are they rebuildable ?? $? OS Giken -- don't know much but pricey and are they all push ( don't really want to change to a push type ) anything else I should be considering ??
  17. if its solid I'm out..........and it looks solid, from the pics cheers
  18. ok just a couple more questions; clutch is sprung centre ? how many KMs on gearbox ? I take it the speedo sender is one of those wires you unplug when taking gearbox out.....and old one should simply unscrew ?
  19. also is it complete from bellhousing to transfer case?
  20. hi.. I'll find out tomorrow how much clutch and gearbox will cost to get to perth.........then get back to you.... why did you take gearbox out if its working fine?
  21. yeah they aren't doing that anymore, because cams have dicked them around so many times.. now you have to join nolimits first ( thats your cams affiliated club ) then send the cams form ( which nolimits will give you ) in yourself......if you look on the nolimits site its just all change now.... ( in regards to CAMS ) still well worth the effort, you just can't leave it till on the night anymore....
  22. as far as cams licenses go, it looks like you will have to join up first then they send you cams forms and you send in yourself...to cams... I think cams might issue you a temp. one quickly but you wouldn't want to leave it too close to the event which is the 25th march next one
  23. get on www.nolimitevents.com join up, go on forums there and ask away.... pretty sure they can still organise your cams license, I'll ask the question and post up the answer soon, you will need 1kg fire extinguisher mounted in the car, long sleeves, halmet etc ---check out site...... and there is also at least 4-5 newbies so you won't be the only one....
