  1. About 600rwhp, semi slicks at the track and a gearbox munching OS Giken R3C triple plate. Which I hope to replace with Nismo copper mix before it takes this box out. Altho I looked at it the other day whilst box was out and after about 40k kms, hundreds of launches and half dozen gearboxes it doesn't look like wearing out any time soon.
  2. Gavs custom PPG helical cut is standing up to his treatment and he doesn't baby it. You might want to look at that if you want to throw $10k+ at it.
  3. Yeah Joey just put the box in last week and all seems good. Will give it proper test this Thursday ( rally sprint). Not sure what to report unless it breaks. So Piggaz I'm trying a standard gearset cryoed with billet centre plate. If that fails, not sure what I'll do?
  4. I swapped between OS and standard numorios times until OS was smashed beyond repair. With stroker and single turbo, once underway it's awesome. But getting off the line in a hurry can be all or nothing due to long first. I did like it tho, you definately notice the difference.
  5. Yep GTT. Agree with your points too, but on the strip and track it's hard to always do the nice soft engagement ( in the heat of the moment ). Clutch selection is tuff, I've had singles, twins, triples, carbonic, carbon, puck, button, sprung centre, solid centre, and all have their pros and cons.
  6. GeeTeeTee. It's mostly first hand accounts not gossip. And when you come off the clutch hard and everything gets too much for the drive line, I'm tipping you lose traction. Don't you reckon the clutch has a lot more to hold when you have 4 wheels making that traction. They might be fine in your application, but that doesn't mean they're right for all.
  7. Funny. You ask the question and hear not so good revues, then do your own google search, find more horror stories and still go with mega clamp solid centre single? Make sure you have a spare gearbox is all I'll say. Good luck
  8. I seriously doubt the Nismo copper mix is made by exedy. Don't skimp on the clutch
  9. Not sure. I never sent him a clutch and they looked new.? Haha. I paid for the box. A mate had his HKS twin rebuilt by jb and it lasted and drive very well. So not knocking the guys work. It's just I didn't have much success with the heavy single with a mix of street and track.
  10. There are going to be lots of different experiences. Here is mine.. Got JB 4200lb clamp single, lasted 500km, exploded and took out gearbox.. He sent me another and ever time I'd try and launch (slip clutch a bit ) it would weld itself together, took it out after only 5000km and it was shagged, both of them engaged like a sledgehammer. My next clutch will be a nismo copper mix, everyone with one loves them.. Anyway good luck with what ever you choose
  11. Sorry guys haven't been around here much lately. Not much to report, haven't got the box back yet. He must be taking his time and doing a really good job?! Aye Cory (-:
  12. Who's going?
  13. yeah keep it as factory as possible.. and remember its designed to thermal syphon when switched off. if its not done right the coolant won't flow and draw the heat away after its turned off.
  14. I'd say clutch selection is one of the most important factors in breaking gearboxes... steer clear solid centre clutches and mega clamp singles.. I did like the comment above from someone with all of 180kw that anyone who breaks one "must really be mistreating the box" ? put decent power through them, with good grip and they're not indestructible.
  15. used to use Tirerack, but freight is starting to get a bit $y, so last set I got from Ozzytires.. only Kumho Esta something somethings but grips good wet and dry and only $220 each delivered for 275/30/18's
  16. there is definately a connector in the drivers footwell, it may be brown connector with yellow wire.. and if in doubt use Nissan MaticD that is the proper stuff from Nissan.
  17. we'll ( turboedsloth or myself ) let you know about the folks once we've fitted and tested them... and Hattori, no they are based off the standard one but are very similar to the OS one, and do exactly the same thing... once we've got it fitted and are happy, I'll put up a link to the engineers website and pic's.. should be in the next couple weeks.
  18. been dragging my feet..... Corey you'll have the bits this week
  19. http://www.antilag.com/brockas/2013RaceWarsResults.pdf enjoy..
  20. not much really, just the line between pump and diff. and block the outlet with a bolt. its the same pump and computer that runs the ATTESSA so all must stay. Quaife or Nismo ?
  21. I was at the Collie track late last year when you emptied your sump into your catch can and all over the engine bay.. and know how frustrated you are. In order to eliminate any other contributing factors, and having seen your breathing setup, ( the most hoses, cans, breathers etc,I've ever seen in an engine bay.) especially the sump to can breather? when the track is continuous high speed lefts, the oil is going to run straight up the sump breather on the right side of the sump? Maybe you can post a pic or diagram of the breather setup, and see what people in the know like Scott etc have to say about it? just an idea.
  22. I'm surprised this hasn't come up earlier...he said Mobil 1 ? so what 5-40 or 0-40 ?? I tried that on my built engine and blew it all out the back ( or somewhere ? ) at one event.. went back to 15-50 which the builder recommended and no such issues.
  23. hi Brendan, long time no speak.. I do love a bit of drag racing, and look forward to seeing your beast at full noise.. So I'll be at this one. put me on the reminder list
