nismoid i know you know quite abit what are your idea's or solution? ive checked the vac lines, my controller comes off the cooler pipe to the boost controller then to the actuator. the vac's are brand new and the actuator is brand new, tension seems correct. I did also mention we tried a gfb controller on it as well with the exact same result. hmm

i do have a profec laying around at home, just not 2 sure how to install it, might look at the greddy install instructions and have a go at putting it on.

Today i tightened the rod even more and its spiking back to just under 1 bar but still tapering off to .7 bar i dont understand why i cant keep my boost stable.

Hi Guys/Gals Ok so ill start from the start. Took my car in to get the following mods tuned. t04e - plain bush bearing (I KNOW) (wastegate port has be honned out) Aftermarket low mount manifold Bosch 040 SAFC blocked bov (yes stalls sometimes- so there was no fabrication to the intake pipe) 3inch intake pipe catch can (yes hooked up correctly - so there was no fabrication to the intake pipe) 3 1/2 inch exhaust Apexi Pod $22 ebay boost controller Was hoping to see around 200-220 kw atw (with my stock ecu and average turbo) When my tuner did a few base runs, we saw the boost spike to 14psi and the ecu chucking a mental, even losing a 100 hp through the midrange the car still made a top of 269hp atw running rich.. As we were searching for the problem for the spike saw and felt the actuator rod not opening the wastegate fully, once i adjusted the tension on the actuator rod the car was no longer spiking but would hit 11 psi and fall off to around 6psi by redline which was only making around 230hp. we came to the conclusion that it was the crappy dual port 4 psi actuator. so he tuned the car quickly with what we had to work with, took some fuel out since it was still running mega rich. next week i shot down to MTQ and bought a garret 8psi actuator, put it on and went for a quick run around the block before the tune, from what i saw on the boost gauge it seemed to be holding .6 bar fine. we put it on the rollers and did a base run, boost was around 10-11 psi but tapered off to 7 psi, checked the tension on the rod and there was enough spring tension to hold the wastegate shut also the car was down 10kw from what it was a week ago. and lost quite abit of power in the mid range also was running a little leaner then a week ago, we tried winding the boost controller right up, it only added 1 psi and still lost boost to 7. We the turned the boost controller completely opposite way it made a constant 4psi right across the rev range?? souldnt it be 8psi since thats what the actuator is? we also tried a GFB controller on it as well with same results. We then checked the part number stamped on the actuator and it is indeed a 8psi. No matter what we tried the boost was leaking off.. Now could this be a restriction in the exhaust? (was thinking of droping the exhaust from dump and see how it runs, then maybe from exhaust housing if it made no difference from there) its a JJR Turbo back exhaust with a split down pipe and "high flow cat"(not actually to sure how high flow lol) What are some of your idea's? bellmouth? i cant see why it could spike and build to 14psi but now it cant even hold 11psi? sorry for my life story just wanted to try and explain fully to you guys. Thanks Richard

using the stock drain pipe although the hose is a little monged (not fully kinked), could be flowing alot better, is the stock drain suffient? im guessing it would be the drain, just cant seem to find a good hose that will fit perfectly.

Oil only turbo no water lines mate.
-
the drain isnt kinked or blocked, but once i placed the restrictor in today the smoke has settled heaps, should i take it back out and see if it smokes again? i have read from other forums that i should use a restrictor as the pressure pushes past the seals on a T04e but sounds to me they could be wrong, i did not use silicon on the drain only a gasket. What is everyones suggestions? rip the restrictor back out?

Hi guys I just put the engine back in my R33 with a T04e (brand new) (bought it off someone who didnt want it anymore but looks like it is probably a cheapy), now i have cranked up the engine, it all runs fine but i give it a few revs (4000rpm) starts blowing smoke while reving and then at idle after that until it settles down again. Im pretty sure my turbo requires a restrictor, now i have left the stock bolt in the block which has a restrictor in it i believe, but i believe i also need one on the turbo side as well? am i correct? now with the line im running at the momment looks like it has a 2mm-2.5mm fitting (turbo side) is this too big? or is my problem not turbo oil related? cheers

not to sure about a R34 dash conversion but I did do a MK2 -> MK3 Swift GTi dash conversion in my old GTi wasnt to hard but then again they run pretty much identical shells, wouldnt mind a nice 34 dash in the 33.

Thanks mate !

Hi Guys, Trying to fit my FPR and having a little trouble, I've fitted the adapter but this fpr has three nipples, not including the vaccum line, now im sure the one on the bottom is the one comming off the rail, but the other two that are opposite of eachother im not sure what to do with, 1 is return ofcourse but what the hell is the other one?? i can blow directly through these 2, but i cant blow through the other one on the bottom. here are some pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Richard

Cheers think i will drill under the holder, just trying to feed the wiring through sounds like a heap of fun :S haha great, ill see how i go.. Cheers Guys

Hi Jrm Ive had the wheel off previously and the boss is HICAS compatible, but couldnt crack the centre nut so i didnt straighten it up. I hope it is only the wheel and not my rack.
-
I guys i have got a 3 gauge holder from ebay a little while back but im wondering what would be the best way to wire up the gauges? I dont particulary want to drill a hole through the dash but cant see anyother way without making it look messy? has anyone actually done this? and what did you do? Just thought I'd ask here first before i started choping my dash up ! Thanks Richard
-
i have the same problem, but i cant seem to enter into diag mode since my steering wheel is aftermarket, and isnt sitting dead straight. But then i have read that if the wheel isnt sitting straight it can cause the hicas to malfunction thinking the car is endlessly turning slightly.. but im not to sure.

cheers guys, doo doo Ill give you a ring next week mate ill bring my stock intake pipe as a sort of example. As im still running plumback bov and blah blah. Was just hoping someone had already made this and they were ready off the shelf somewhere, All good though, THanks! Richard

oh gee never thought of that! what about the pipes that come out of it? i asked what people have used and where it can be found so dont be a smart ass
-
Hi Guys What have you guys done when you have a 3" inlet on your turbo but the stock intake pipe is only 2"(there abouts), I'm thinking i may have to make something up. at first i was thinking a reducer but you wouldnt want to go from 2"-> 3". Just wondering if anyone knows what to do or where to find. Richard

Cheers for the reply. I understand now, thanks !

Hi guys/girls Iam about to install a bosch 040 in my 33GTST and have read some places about upgrading the wiring, but looking at some tutorials they havent upgraded theres either. So what im wondering is what are the benifits of upgrading the wiring? or will the stock wiring work just as good? sorry if this has been covered hard to search when your internet has been capped lol got to page 8 of 31 and gave up. Thanks guys Richard

What Kind Of Power Will I Make With This Setup

Sorry, i must have been half asleep lol, I have the JJR 3'' Turbo back exhaust system, not a 2 1/2 inch, but yer I'd have to agree with the SAFC, not much help are they. Safc will have to do until i get my hands on a PFC. Cheers Guys. -
Yer, I've taken mine for granted! driving around a honda prelude for a few months now while my engine is out and im tidying up everything and upgrading a few things, trust me once the bug bites you will be burning money, i cant wait to put my engine back in and be able to feel the boost again! ON TOPIC : I felt the pull in my stock 33 GTST only with a hks exhaust although it was my first turbo car, you get use to it fairly quick! Alot of first turbo owners think they have lost power once they get use to it lol.

i was thinking around that.. 220-230kw once tuned with the safc.. most of my mods are quite limiting... i also forgot to mention a FPR will be on there to.
