  1. I did study some thermo dynamics at uni, but not enough to comment on the subject well enough. judging by the efficiency of solar panels, the amount of energy you could gain from these "heat cells" would be very low.
  2. just had another look at the pic. even if the perspective thing did make the spoiler look so much smaller, then why can't the rear tyres be seen underneath the car on the front view. They are almost the same viewing distance behind the viewing point as the spoiler, and are not set as far apart, yet they line up directly behind the front tyres............. here's another look
  3. are you guys sure that is the real deal? From the rear photo is has a huge spoiler that extends to the furthest extents of the body. from the front photo, the spoiler can hardly be seen and is definately smaller
  4. here is a website with some quarter mile times. I seriously doubt that your skyline can beat an R1 hungry. what mods does it have? http://www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/rivals.htm

  6. Sonic - i found this quote0 on drive.com.au "The Coupe 4 has, by HSV standards, comparatively modest power. According to Holden chairman and CEO Peter Hanenberger, this was "to ensure the durability of the drivetrain". Read that as the company being nervous as to whether the gearbox and possibly other components of the all-wheel-drive system could handle any more torque or power. Hanenberger said drivetrain development would continue."
  7. power is down from 285kw (VY series2) to 270kw because the drivetrain can't handle any more ATM. Also, it's auto only. Different weights are being thrown around, but i've heard from more people that it's just over 1800kg - up about 100kg from the std monaro I think. Someone else also said that unlike FWD magna's etc there is not going to be as big a weight penalty by powering all 4 wheels, as the rear drive part is the heaviest.
  8. pardon my ignorance, but what is the need of air filter socks for road cars. I used things called filter skins (several at a time) as an initial barrier for my foam filter on my dirtbike, especially in very dusty conditions. They trap 90+% of dirt so you can rip them off anytime and clean them and it saves the arduous task of cleaning a dirty oiled foam filter and re-oiling. I hope i am talking about the right thing..........:tomato:
  9. true. a car that has done under 100,000 k's really shouldn't have any significant wear on interior parts.
  10. sydneykid, could you explain what you said about an RB25 being 90% efficient, and an F1 being 97.2% efficient? from where are these values taken? I guessing not from the chemical energy of petrol to flywheel power. From the little amount of mechanical eng. that i studied i was under the impression a petrol car, overall, was about 30% efficient
  11. that will be a sad day :(
  12. pentae, how about an oz delievered R32. They would hold their value a bit better than import GT-R's, as well as being less likely to be thrashed, even more so than some 33's, considering they were a $180,000 or so car when they were new in 91. If seen a few for sale (only 100 delivered).
  13. lol @ rezz. i hear the gen IV powered awd commo will be well over 2000kg, so they are well on their way!
  14. they've got the F150 lightning though..........mmmmmmm
  15. how much did an R34 retail for? GT (NA)? I'm guessing $50k+ AU if it was an Oz spec model That goes somewhere to the point of whether you can call it a family car. EG: whilst an M5 has 4 doors, i wouldn't really call it a family car - its a sports saloon type of car.
  16. what is an aristo? with the "JZ" in the name, i'm guessin toyota? like the chaser?
  17. nobody is saying either one is crap, yet..... they are similar in price and i think that someone with that sort of cash to spend would consider the two. I would....
  18. i would buy R34. The falcon is too big, heavy, common and not as quick to drive (refering to BFYB 03). I don't need/want 4 doors. and even if i did, i'd pay extra and spend a whole lot mroe time, just to find a GT-T in manual. A similar M.Y. chaser is also another car in mind for 4 doors
  19. R34 is 206kw so its got stock 20kw over the 33
  20. they both have very similar stock power: GTiR = 177kw or so and R33 = 187kw from memory. AWD and lighter weight should have the R33 covered pretty easily. The problems arise when you mod them. with a FMIC, increased boost, exhaust + intake mods, and you start to reach the maximum power that the clutch and gearbox can take ~ 230kw or so. Also they are hard to work on. I think the whole engine needs to be removed to replace a clutch etc. Still they would be an awesome car. Not many around in Melbourne, would beat the pants off lots of modded cars, even when stock, and its like a mini GTR
  21. thats a good article aerograce!
  22. evo's are expensive for what they are: i saw an EVO 6 at a yard for $50k. Sure they would be unreal cars, but too expensive IMO. For that sort of cash, and 4 doors, i'd go for a chaser
  23. post some pics when its finished slip! I plan on getting one in a couple of years. probably a KTM 640
  24. there are no other colours left to try. Look for pink to be Holdens next hero colour, come the YZ commodore next september
