Transmission Options For A High Hp Rb30 Gtr
two_evil replied to 4jo3's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The funny thing is never launched the car hard. I was just doing a quick upshift from 2nd to 3rd and then rattle rattle all over. Its all in the torque. maybe the npc twin plate thats un sprung didn't help! -
Transmission Options For A High Hp Rb30 Gtr

If your going to make big power you need a straight cut dog box like a ppg. If you want to take it easy you could get away with a os giken syncro box. Basically syncro's can't handle big power or torque for that matter. i broke my os giken box and was only running 550hp at the wheels. -

Justa quick question for all the gearbox gurus. How often does a straight cut gearbox require inspections/overhauls?? Also which do you guys think is stronger HKS 6 Speed dog box or a PPG 5 Speed Dog box??? -

The box was second hand, i dunno who assembled it but it was nice and quite no noise and shift smoothly between gears. I just clutch it in second launch it pretty hard while rolling and then just up shifted to third and then just heaps of rattling and banging noise. I dropped the oil the other day and abit of helical tooth came out and the mag plug. -

Nope not yet. I wanted to get the boost controller setup properly first and run some good boost with e85 and do a quarter in it. It just didn't quite get there. I'm hoping for a good time. would be good to dip into the nines. Would be really happy with that. -

Sorry to hijack thread but how did you fix the heavy steering at low speeds??
-
i got a haltech platinum just as good as a motec in my opinion and not so expensive
-
the reason i want to change to a boost controller is that i am currently running boost control through my haltech and the control dial is just sheeet to set. so i want to know what controller people recommend keeping mind that i two waste gates. the boost was set to 1.7 but when i was working on the car i found a hole in a hot pipe from the rear turbo i have since fix this and now its over boosting to 1.9-2.0 so i have disconnect the haltech boost control and just using the wastegate springs for now to control boost
