JJR Coil Packs Vs Oem Vs Splitfire Vs Other
spec-V replied to 4drftn's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Ill clarify from personal experience on my own cars. I had RB25DET R33. Usual misfire, coilpacks blah blah blah. I too tossed up between splitfires ($800 at the time) and the JJR ones at just under half price. Money was tight and I went the JJR's, worked excellent for 6 months brilliantly, replaced plugs 2 weeks after install and the car went even harder! Was so very impressed! Unfortunately one coilpack malfunctioned at about the 8 month mark, jumped on the phone to JJR, they sent me a new one and even re-imbursed postage. Over a year on and they are still going very strong and very happy with the product. People claim to have dyno'd splitfires against china brand and have found 5-10hp difference, but personally I think its a crock of shit with people trying to make there china product better than the real deal or another china brand All in all, I was very happy with the product apart from the little mishap and would definately use them again as they solved my problem and gave me better performance and fuel economy. And as always, the shit under the bonnet of your car is nearing 20 years old, its brittle and will break, be gentle! Especially with your coilpack harness. I learnt the hardway. Goodluck, for more info do a search I did a writeup in someone elses topic early last year. This topic has been covered! -

I have seen the DARE YA gtr and I am familiar with the build as it used to be black. And yes, unfortunately it's just a stretch out of my price range for what I want to spend. Strill trolling the internets for a nice example!
-
I don't really have a budget of such, is moreso a case of finding something I like, or close to it and doing what I want to it. For interests sake, lets say I have a purchasing budget of $20,000 , however if a super smick big HP one came along at $30,000 I'd definately be interested also. Please if you are interstate, you must be willing to take a good digital camera and take photos of parts I ask for. Don't just ask me to fly down, coz I don't want to waste a whole weekend if your car is a shitbox.

Wanted: Bonet Release Handle Bracket?
spec-V replied to Trozzle's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Hi Troy, as bullet32 has said, the cable is attached to the plastic bracket and a new cable needs to be sourced in order to fix this problem, it is also a major f**k around and does cost a few bucks for something thats not a big issue! Just always remember to push the cable back when you pop the bonnet and you'll be set! -
Also it is worth noting that you should check the fluid and top up if necessary, even over-full if you wish, It sovled my problem first time it happened in the car!

Troy, seeing as I sold you the car, I will clarify a few things to save you and a few other people some time. For the record you have a HKB bosskit installed in the car fitted to a GKtech wheel, the bosskit inwhich is in your car is HICAS compatible. The problem you have found occuring is not infact related to steering wheel. If you stick your head under the back end of the car you will notice that there is the KYB HICAS linkage system, carefully, and I repeat carefully remove all the plugs and give them a spray with contact cleaner or electrical contact cleaner, it is quite dirty under there I know, and 15+ years of driving im sure has clocked up alot of dirt, The member who posted that the Hicas system throws a warning under movement of the rack ends is correct to an extent however it is highly unlikely that the rear end of the car would move enough to trip sensors, I should know I went over the car with a fine tooth comb before it went on the truck. The light has come on with me driving only 3 times in the 2 and abit years I owned it, and I put it down to age, I can assure you nothing in the rear end is astray or in need or repair, however a safety check would be recommended for peiece of mind. A more probable cause to the problem mate (having worked around many Hicas equipped cars over the years) Would be that a earth wire has come loose (which I suspect is the case) or Jax Quitfit f**ked it somehow when they did the balance on the tires. I suggest jacking the rear end of the car up mate, and if you drop the 2 10mm bolts either side of the linkage it will swing down, there you will be faced with 2 21-23mm bolts holding the diff into the rear cradle, what I suggest checking is that the HICAS earth is still connected to the left bolt, if it isn't re-connect it, I dare say this is your problem! Goodluck mate and keep me posted on the car, I do miss it alot!
