Would You Be Happy With 320awkw's
R33-RB26DETT replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in General Automotive Discussion

Would You Be Happy With 320awkw's
R33-RB26DETT replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Well predominantley i use my car on road, and with the intention of attending track days every couple of months. Nismoid, interesting that you say the R34 N1's would be better is this the "Group A" spec turbo which has 0.64 housings? or just the Normal N1 Turbos? I can get a pair of fairly good R33 N1's with no shaft play for aroun $800 so its seems like a good path to take maybe? Although it seems that GT-SS's (2860R -7)'s would be capable of higher hp approx ~ 20kw more than the N1's and would be new too.. The more i research the more i realise that perhaps i should just get these turbos and be done with it, i mean if i go past 340 - 350 awkw's then im gonna have to start doing internals anyway so its probably for the best that i just stay at the 320awkw mark for now. As i said i cant really say for sure since i have never been in a car this powerfull, but going on what others with that power figure have said so far it surely will be a substantially greater feeling of power than i have currently. -
Hi Guys, Deciding btw a pair of R33 N1's and HKS 2530's. Currently running a fairly stock R33 GTR with around 230awkw's. Question is i have never been in a quicker can than mine before, how good of a feeling is a 320awkw car compared to say 380awkw's? Who here has 320 kw's and is happy with it? I have got bored of my current power within 3 months, would i get bored of 320 just as quick?

Exedy Twin Plate Clutch
R33-RB26DETT replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hi Guys, Okay, found out that brand new they are 4.05mm each! If they are 2.75mm each now, would they suit a rebuild OR could i just put them in as is? Potentially how long could this clutch last for with this knowledge in hand? THanks. -
Hi Guys, I just cant understand why the exact same clutch is bieng sold in AUS for $2500 but on Nengun its only Take a look for yourselves: http://www.nengun.com/exedy/hyper-metal-twin-plate-clutch It says that it could take up to 6 weeks to arrive, but have anyone on here ordered a clutch or similar item through them ? Does it really take that long? Cheers guys

Is This Something To Worry About?
R33-RB26DETT replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in General Maintenance
Thanks Brian, well said mate. My strong passion/obsession with my car is one which cant be easily described and i am at trying to do everything i can to learn more about it mechanically and how to treat it properly. We all need to start somewhere, keep in mind 3 months ago i was driving a VP Executive AUTO and had driven a manual car maybe two times before in my entire life. -
great, thanks!

Is This Something To Worry About?
R33-RB26DETT replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in General Maintenance
wtf is ur problem? i am new to this scene and i am overcautious about my GTR. My old car never used to do this even after it was hot, so that is why i was wondering. I didn't realize that asking a f@*&^ing question was cause for being a smart arse... As for GTRsean, thanks thats what i thought, but just wanted confirmation that nothing was wrong internally. -
Is This Something To Worry About?
R33-RB26DETT replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in General Maintenance
Hey sean, I just checked it then with the engine off, and the oil level is beautiful not too high not too low Don't understand about the oil sloshing around while i drive? how would i tell? Oil pressure and temp gauge's are within the normal ranges. Is this all normal? Thanks again. -
Hey guys, I know my clutch is on the way out, but i just want to confirm this is normal and not something serious with my engine... When i drive past about 6,000 revs i can hear the turbos spooling really loud but i dont feel the power being delivered to the wheels. This is normal right? It's just becuase the clutch is slipping even during normal driving and can handle the load over 6,000 rpm which means its on its last legs??
-
Hi Guys, Okay, i drove my car for 30minutes and went to fill up at the servo. When i got there i popped the hood to check the oil level as i do every week. Tonight i was shocked to see the oil level was waaay beyond full! about 1/4 of the way up the dipstick! So i wiped it clean and stuck it in again(with the engine still running). The result was the same... Why would this be happening? I am starting to stress that this could be a more serious problem but i dont want to take it to the mechanic and ask before i get some advice on here since im afraid they will try to tell me its worse than what it actually is. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

F/s R32 Gtr N1 (nismo)turbos
R33-RB26DETT replied to nismo73's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
From my research, these appear to have a steel compressor wheel. How much boost where you running on them, and what kind of power where you getting from them? -

bump. -
Hey Guys, Just got outa the car, and this has only just started happening about half an hour ago... The car drives no problem normally, but the Tacho wont relect the revs accuratley. Ok heres what happens the revs go up to 2K then wont go past, in fact they start creeping backwards steadily back towards 1K. Would this be a problem with -Tacho Buggered. -ECU Issue Or what else?? Just wondering what i should start pulling apart first, anyone got any ideas?

Im confused whats the name of this Single Plated Clutch which is capable of holding 500hp? I will do a search in the drivetrain section, just need to name and model number.. cheers. If its cheap and can hold that kind over power then i will look into grabbing one myself.. Cheers Guys.
-
Yeah, well it seems DAN00H can speak from experience... Perhaps i will need to get a twin plate, but the problem is that are they REALLY that un-driveable for daily driving?

Garrett Gt2860r -5, Gt2860r -7, Gt3071r Turbos
R33-RB26DETT replied to sloutch's topic in Group Buys
Hi sloutch, Sorry i may not have structured my question properly... I am aware that installation of the turbos would cost approx $500 although i was wondering if my mechanic should order these parts himself at an additional charge OR if i should source the rest of the kit for him? Cheers I just need to clarify this point before i buy them thats all -
Second Hand Clutches
R33-RB26DETT replied to R33-RB26DETT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
lol, nice one redevil. Budget really isnt an massive issue with me, i know that owning a GTR and modifying it isnt cheap. But that being said i have always made an effort to research and make sure that i can get the best possible deal, so far i have saved a bundle browsing the forums and picking up bargains. Recently though i have formed the opinion that buying second hand turbos and clutch's is a bad idea. Also i dont think a twin plate would be very drivable for daily use, and would be overkill for my power figure of 320awkw's -
Yeah apparantley they are not that bad anyway on the GTR's, or so i have been told. But its definantley worth it anyway. Curious as to whether an Excedy Heavy Duty clutch would be able to handle 320awk's? My mate says that it should last at least 3 years. Would be good to get some opinions on this matter. Cheers Guys.
