  1. sorry to be like this but your wrong 15 years as an instrument tech the afms meter works on air speed (cooling) so as long as you keep it near the centre of the pipe it will work fine. There nothing special about the z32 afm meter and if your running a pfc you can install a custom ramp graph for the afm meter and will not even need to adjust the maps(spark and fuel). Good to see someone willing to try some thing and not just be a sheep. my 2c
  2. gav you the man . where did you find a diagram like that good shit pete ps guys fit this resistor (it a must)
  3. honestly i dont know but they must get there gear made somewhere as there std stoke motors make 1400hp plus at something like 12500rpm with twin 3542 veilside turbos which are based off a hks 3240 and anything that is actually veilside (not copy) is of the highest quality and kits are awesomely built but not all in my tasty(there are some nice kits tho). ps is everyone else noticing that the gtrs turbos seem to be very high rpm to get going and only achieve small gains over the gt2560r/hks2530. I didnt realise that jagr33 had changed to gt2560r. I might have to send him a line to see what he thinks of them compared to the trust units. pete
  4. if the rest of the tomei gear is anything to go by i would thick they would be great turbos but i think is just there are so many other cheap turbo combos out there. I would love to try a set but the budget doesnt stretch that far. pete
  5. well i believe jagr33(i think is the sau name) has made 531rwhp/398rwkw with the trust turbos i think what you need to ask yourself is where does your true priority rest responce your out right hp as if your not happy with 400rwhp you will battle to maintain a good responsive drive package. Out right hp doesn't make the fastest street car it's drivable traction and torque curve that makes a car truely fast in more than a straight line. what is your goals
  6. i understood that veilside never did a stoker motor ,i can even recall an inview with the man himself and he was asked why they never did stoker he liked a high reving motor more and didnt want to change the characteristics of the rb26, in there cars. Have a look at hpi dvd 5 for the interview personally i think sly33 your on the right track a 2.8litre low mount twin combo will give you the ulimate street /track combo for a gtr any of the turbos GT2560R 707160-5 HKS 2530 trust 517Z (i think form memory) are all very similar and very good turbos for the rb26 the 2.8 WILL give yoiu more torque and better responce ,NISMO did not race there's as a 2.8 for nothing for how many years and i believe HKS and TOMIE to be the best of the after market brand and they both do 2.8litre. i believe the japanise didn't go much bigger on purpose as the rb26 was built to rev. I also seem to remember some of the most impressive street gtr's ever built were of this same comfiguration ,the black r34 gtr in the UK gtr video etc , look the ulimate gtr the Z TUNE is what ? 2.8 litre twin low mount why? because its the best combo for the gtr nismo ever came up with. Dont you think if there was a better for street track they might know about it after what 16years racing/tuning. SLY33 your on the right track to and awesome weapon listen to the companies that know NISMO/HKS/TOMEI ETC. as for the HKS GTRS turbos they are a little of an unknown or should i say unproven set up in the way that the small top end gains dont seem to out way the bottom end losses , over say the hks250/gt2560r etc BUT it might just be that none has just found the right combo for them yet .I actually hope Gav has sum luck with his 2.8 hks gtrs combo. drop me a line if you would like to have a chat as there has been a few interesting thing i have picked up in the last few months in relation to this setup pete (my 2c)
  7. is the afm still available
  8. I'll make this very simple the injectors you want are SARD 700cc they bolt straight in the pfc run them beautifully and they are very well priced, no problem with idle low speed etc and give you the head room you will need with those turbos. Dont go any smaller your wasting your time. pete mine make 530rwhp and 500km plus per tank
  9. from there other kits you can say the crankin stage 1 is good for 1200ps the rods in stage 1 good for 800ps as both components are the same the only factor down rating the kit is the piston coating ,I think a quatity forged piston from HKS would be capable of alot higher ps rating i think the reason for the rating is more to given a justification for the price differences between the kits as who would pay the exact money if the rating were more like stage 1 900ps stage 2 1000ps stage 3 1200ps (for example only) do you see what i mean sly33 would it be possible to maybe try buying it for america instead as the free trade agreement (might be cheaper just an idea) pete
  10. ok back to topic the three HKS kits as i understand them are stage 1 (600ps rating) crank rods pistons $6819.12(deliveried) stage 2 (800ps) crank rods pistons (but the pistons are coated) $8,720.87 (deliveried) stage 3 (1200ps) crank rods (22mm judgen pin) pistons (but the pistons are coated)(22mm judgen pin) $10,738.65 (deliveried) in my opinion i think stage 1 is good valve for money full forged stoker kit internals for under $7000 deliveried and i believe it to be capable of much higher hp then rated, coating pistons does make that much of a difference (600 to 800ps) and if i had known earlier about this kit well my current build might have been alot different. I could only see someone going above stage 1 (straight to 3) if you were out to break some hp(dyno) or drag records. my 2 c ps HKS conrods are simple awesome
  11. always a good one to give the rb30 boys shit on hehehe
  12. RB30 Single over head cam engine was made and used in FORKLIFTS in japan and you can offen find them in oz
  13. keep the piping as short as posible, i have seen a guy install a dual stage controller in the cab with hugh long piping the result was hugh boost piking (or over run) as it took slow long for the system to respond. pete just an idea to check
  14. ok i would think it a good idea to surface the head, it will help the head gasket to seal (remove only what you need to clean up the surface) if it takes a bit to mill the surface you might want to compensate with thinker head gasket(the machinest can tell you how much he removed), as for the block, scrap of leftover gasket material (carefully) and you'll need a good oil stone to rub down the surface keep the surface wet with something like CRC while your rubbing it down. Then clean the surface with and to remove any gung from the cylinders apply a thick ring of oil around the top of the cylinder then turn the engine over, the oil will be pushed to the top but should catch any foreign material. It is a good idea to fit a tomei oil gallery resistor to the block they come in the tomei head gasket kit and simply knock in on top of the exist one (simple) There is only one It will be fine to clean the tops of the pistons i would do that first. pete hope it helps
  15. Gearbox redline light weight shock proof diff redline mt90 gtr tranfers DONT USE REDLINE you most use the matic d nissan oil if you want it to last (this came from a head more knowledgable than myself who had rebuilt a shit load of transfers) engine mobile 1 is good so is the redline products
  16. KIMBOD so your saying fuels ant fuels meaning the product you might get in one state could be a bit differnet from the same produst sold in a different state. pete
  17. it all depends on the condition of the head BUT i would remmend taking the head to someone who has worked on rb26 head before as the exhaust valve clearances are quiet unusal because of the sodium fill valve.
  18. I THINK YOUR REFEERING TO KIT THAT JUN CAN PUT TOGETHER AS WAS RECENTLY SOLD IN WA
  19. I personally know the gtr intercooler is good for 397rwkw even when slightly damaged as i have run one for nearly 2 years. The other thing that aways worried me about buy a cheap bar and plate intercooler was the materials used, metals ant metals and like mention above i believe the end tank design to be lacking some what. Thankfully i have pick up a nice biltz 102mm gtr replacement unit and will be retiring the gtr intercooler to my second project a twin turbo ca.
  20. combination for what?
