YES it can and very offen does as the exploding cermic wheel spend bit everywhere including back into the combustion chamber making and almightly mess of thing ,this is why people throw the std turbo asap as its cheap to replace just turbos than a motor and turbos. The std turbos are a ticking time bomb if run anything over std boost (some may last a little or alot but they all fail in the end)
-
tick tick tick doom and when i goes it will take the motor with it, i have seen 3 of these in the last year. And it's funny how these guys come out of the wood work "my mates car" there is a big difference in this range at 316awhp i ran 12.0 1/4mile at 520rwhp i ran 11.3 1/4mile so to run a 12.0 or 11.9 in gtr is not rocket science but to get in to the mid or low 11's takes a lot more work (lot more)
-
700cc sard in my gtr run at 75% on std fuel pressure reg at 397rwkw so 700cc sards would serve you just fine
-
yes i'm running the Gt2560R garret turbos AWESOME turbo will the right setup to surport them very similar to the hks 2530's i'm running 529.4rwhp at 20 psi on ultimate 98 (sorry ken not 536) they are the bolt in upgrade for the gtr made by garret and from all the spec's i can find they are the really (r34n1 with 0.6ar compressor and 0.64 turbine) they running the same turbine house as the hks 2530 but have a unique compressor(from memory a C106 compressor wheel) pete
-
yes the ones i quote are a direct bolt in fit, and yes there are some other turbos going around similar but not the same so i advise to all be carefully ordering turbos ,as a young kid down here orders so CHEAP 320hp garret turbos through powerinabox and when they arrived didn't havr the gtr houses (but simple were off the shelf std units) with different compressor wheels the works and he will have to have custom everything made .Fortunately its a rb26 install to a gts so he had to have piping made anyway. the custom gt2560r are a little bit more money over the std off the shelf garret 320hp ball bearing as they are designed rb26 and have a unique compressor wheel.
-
your are after the garret gt2560r (r34n1) you can source them from Sean at Adrenline Performance $3500 for the set (brand new) i am running these turbos at 530rwhp at 20psi with no lag to speak of pm is me if you want me to talk to sean for you pete
-
i'm running the gt2560r garret 320hp (r34n1) they have 0.60ar compressor and 0.64ar turbine housing and with pfc ,z32afm ,700cc sard injectors and poncams i make 529.4rwhp at 20psi .The gt2560r are very similar to 2530hks with the same turbine but has a differnet compressor ( i my opinion an awesome turbo combo for the gtr). The 2530 hks is also an excellent unit also.

GTR Tuning - What Fuel to Use at high boost?
pnblight replied to fsmout's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
YES if properly tuned, as i'm running up to 20psi (1.36bar) on ultimate 98 bp at 529.4rwhp -
Interesting mine has a std head and 260 9.15mm lift poncams and we run it up to 20psi. I still have std cooler aswell and have not setup a sealed cold air intake yet (in the process) just got Apexi pod filters with de-screened z32 afms and custom 3' hard piping intake system, with a twin 3' into 3'1/2 custom single exhaust. Nothing to special but boy does it doogy ,no lag to speak of and pulls all the way to redline and doesn't seem to fall away on the dyno even at near 8000rpm. So i dont know like you said if there is much left in them but they havent hit the wall yet ,basically i stop tuning as the power level i reached was all i was willing to run through a std bottom end ,I might turn up the wick after i do my forged rebuild later this or may next year. But i go no further until internals are changed. pete
-
Interesting Sk the second units sound very similar combo to mine (as the hks 2530 are very similar to my gt2560r garrets) what sort of boost was that at ? And is that a similar power to the first example 402rwkw = what sort bhp (i know it's abit of a guess) i had ~at the high 600's bhp The reason i ask is i had woundered if i would pickup much hp with a larger cam setup. cheers pete
-
SK i think is mostly like right and your cams sound a bit big as i'm run a (combine turbos 640hp rating) where the t04z is what more like 800hp so i cant see why your gtr still wouldn't make that sort of hp with smaller cams (i'm run 260 9.15mm in/ex for 397rwkw) can i ask what boost you run for the 417awkw? and the lift of the cams? cheers pete
-
I will say tho mine is a lightly tuned rb26 with gt2560r turbos and tomei poncams etc. Where yours sound pretty hard core with 280 cams and what turbo package? I would be a properly install 02 sensor(s) running closed loop could only benefit the car Worth a try with fuel prices like they are (if it worked wouldn't take long to pay for it's self)
-
i'm running 700cc sard injectors on pfc at 397rwkw and can easily get over 400km maybe closer to 500km if i stay off the throddle.(cam are only 260deg) My guess would be 2) 3) the most likely factors in the poor fuel consumption pete

Ecu Ecu Ecu Which One !!!!! ????????
pnblight replied to exXU1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So the only difference you can show is the to ability the retard when knock level reached the rest is your personal option, as who can truely say what company sent on development but i can say the std computer was only design to run 208kw where the development of the pfc was 208kw to 1000kw+ (apexi 8sec drag car runs pfc). To call the pfc inconsistent is a big call, as it must be close to the world most used after market ecu on the rb series engine. The pfc ability to control large injectors at low % operation is nothing short of remarkable and i must have talked to a dozen other tuner who have had not a problem with the units ability .Personally i have met an unhappy pfc owner but thats only my experience unfortunately i can't say the same the same for alot of the others(wolf, mines chipped ecu, etc). But if the pfc is so lacking and inconsistent as you say i'm sure you will find a large market for your home grown software and really how could a company the size of APEXI compete with you at home on your laptop. -
Ecu Ecu Ecu Which One !!!!! ????????
pnblight replied to exXU1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
have i miss something here but the pfc has 20*20 resolution amd can be tune for what ever octane fuel you like ,has great knock sensor sensitivty (or why would australias fastest gtr ( KW) still retain a pfc and hand controller when he is running a fully optioned motec). The pfc also runs compensation tables ? -
GTR R32 diff and gear box questions
pnblight replied to exXU1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The car going hard to one side sound more like a suspension problem or handling It might even be worth check the condition of the std open diff as i killed one at the drags not that long ago (tore it to pieces not pretty) -

So please tell us where the pfc will be surpassed by this chipped std unit as we would be very interested advantages -
Ecu Ecu Ecu Which One !!!!! ????????
pnblight replied to exXU1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i'm also guessing this will only work on r32 (as they are remappable) as i believe the r33 computers are locked and can not be remapped It hardly seem worth 6 months of work when you can buy a unit with hand control for under a $1000 that is plug and play and will achieve everything you trying to achieve (the pfc is a fully program std computer Plug and play using all std equipment and sensors with the bonus of the hand controller interface for tuning and fault finding) -
529rwhp(397rwkw) twin plate nismo clutch with sprung centre awesome clutch good everyday driver and has never slipped even at the drags running 11.3 126mph

Alternative to OS Giken RB30 kit.
pnblight replied to proengines's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Doesn't Sub-zero (i think) do a rb30 package that runs some serious numbers (going off memory here from some mag acticles) so dont quote me. from memory rb30 bottom end rb26 head and just big single turbo (the std ozzy 3litre sort of package) anyone remember what they were getting out of the package? -

yeah sounds good will be interested to read how it all goes (what you think its 12 month project or so) Is interesting you bought up a thread like this as i had been concidering my opinions and i think it health for the skyline seen to talk about different options. I know everyone has a hardon for the 3 litres but i see the best GTR in the world tend to be small cc and built to rev Veilside run std cc, at i think around 1460hp 12500rpm (awesome) GTR700 2.7June kit 1MW i think i last heard and has run up to 13000rpm on the dyno I guess i was thinking about for the money 10 to 11 thou it would be hard to look pass a std bore and stoke N1 GT500 block $2870 or so N1 GT500 crank $3300 GT Rods $1320 (total $7500 +oil pump $1000) good for what 1000hp to 1100hp Or N1 GT500 block $2870 one of the 2.7 or 2.8 litre kits $9000 to $10000 mark with this you know your got a combo good for what 1200hp to 1400hp out of the box So i find it hard to concider making an unknown combo in that sort of price range when there are so many good combo out there to pick from. But full current to the people willing to have a go pete ps is the KAKIMOTO Racing high block a spacer block with sleeves for $2000(sold by greenline) -

pnblight replied to proengines's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What would you think the hp rating of the kit could safety produce and rpm redline be. As i have been told be some pretty knowledgable people the std gtr block is only good to around 750 to 800hp before may fail (this came from one of australias best gtr draggers)? Would this limitation still apply or do you think with the additions of sleeves it may handle more? pete ps interesting idea tho and good to see some aussie willing to have a go -
Ecu Ecu Ecu Which One !!!!! ????????
pnblight replied to exXU1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
my opinion is *for street the APEXI pfc is the pick of the bunch for easy and price (the units are tried and tested and can run hugh hp like a breeze) *for full race prep motec /autronic (where you need the extras) my 2c ps we are starting to use EMS on a few different cars and are finding good results (just food for thought) -
ok cool thats a pretty big buffer but ha each to there own and rich is safe so by way of a the 800hp turbo at mid 20's psi with high lift cams and spinning it to 9000rpm you must be think around 600rwhp then at a guess.(or did you have a target in mind) and if your going to spin it pretty hard what oil pump you using out of interest? pete sorry to hear about the box
-
nice to see you getting there simon, you must be happy to have starting to come together Why you want to run so rich? And i'm surprized that after upgrading to the 044 you are still having fuel troubles what is your next step to fix the fuel supply ? The cams your running are 272hks Yes? what lift ,as i heard danny just snapped a high lift cam and it is not that uncommon that they do (bit of a worry) And the million dollar question what is your target boost preesure once everything is running right?
