very true cant agree more and the simple mph to hp only works when comparing apples with apples ie awd with awd and street tyres with street tyres my orginal post to show that its not very hard or hughly $$ to get 400rwhp from a rb26 and i simply post wot i got from my one trip to the strip
-
Well Leewah ran 132hp with 597rwhp it's only 7mph more for a 107 hp
-
Well when i ran it gear changes and starts were the biggest issues but even tho it's not far off wot a lot of the high 400hp cars will run in mph and please dont forget its awd not 2 wd a 2wd drive will run a slightly fast mph per hp due to weight and rotating weight . What mph would you exspect from a 490rwhp AWD?
-
Then if you want it to daily drive the rb26dett is the best option in my opinion As i drive a 400kwrw gtr most days pfc & avcr apexi and hand controller garrett 320hp ball bearing turbos tomei 260 9.15 cams and adj wheels 700cc injectors rb20 afms custom exhaust and inlet 525rwhp 20psi (last 1/4 ~490hp ran 11.3 125mph) the rest std so that sort of power isnt hard to exact from rb26dett but i am about to change out rb20afms as there limit is about 540rwhp and am going to put forged rods and pistons just for peace of mind .Plus i'm doing some sump mods for track use. as for a low 10 1/4 will come down to weight and setup to gain suck a time not just power
-
well for the hp you want a near std rb26det could be and option worth every scent and if you buy half cut you cut sell all the bits you dont want awd box, panels ,lights ,bumber and you get a heep of bit you can use for upgrade or sell brake calipers, cooler etc sometimes it worth sending a bit more money at the start and you wouldn't have to buy the exacts you would with the other options to gain the same power. Worth a good think hehe LONG LIVE THE RB26DETT

RB26 stronger internals/rebuild help PLEASE!
pnblight replied to justinfox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i have seen not that i would recomend hks2530 on std internal produce 550rwhp (25psi) thats just to give an indication of potiental (i think this car was running 106 oc fuel tho and is would be a good for to long getting a track pounding) i'm thinking you might be in the 280 to 300rwhp area at the moment i think you would be worth put your turbos on with rb20 afm(much cheaper than z32and good to 540rwhp) and injector (700cc) tune to 18psi you should easily make 400rwhp and have a reliable awesome track car on std internals (internals opional up to this level in my opion) but do sump and oil cooler . you will truely be amazed the difference this will make . you could then fit cams and adjustable wheels to gain more but the further you go the more need for internals upgrade you will need so get your 400rwhp and just have a ball and sum good running gear instead (tyre r comp, suspenion and brakes) -
RB26 stronger internals/rebuild help PLEASE!
pnblight replied to justinfox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
wot hp are you running now to give us idea of the level your hoping to achieve my gtr r33 std internals garrett 320hp ball bearing turbos tomei 260 9.15mm cams and adj wheels sard 700cc injectors rb20 afms apexi pfc and hand controller custom exhaust and inlet 525rwhp 11.3sec 125mph 20psi so the std internal can take a bit of punishment and your turbos will not wake up till 18psi (i think this would be your best setting(safe as houses)) but send the money on oil system for track large sump ,oil cooler etc no buts ,and yes you'll most likely get best track results from a good suspension and brake upgrade -
RB26 stronger internals/rebuild help PLEASE!
pnblight replied to justinfox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
well i'm doing a rebuilt with arias piston and pauter rods arias i seen a couple of nasty engine failures and the pistons survive fine(oil issues) and the pauter rods have good rep in america and there a alot of guying installing them in the west both items good valve for $ hope this helps -
converting hp to kw, know how?
pnblight replied to handyandy's topic in General Automotive Discussion
easy way for estimating hp to kw take a 1/4 kw to hp add a 1/3 -
RB26 stronger internals/rebuild help PLEASE!
pnblight replied to justinfox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Tomei cams and cam wheels are awesome (i'm running 260 9.15mm) Arias Pistons seem to be developing a good rep Pauter, tomei, trust etc take your pick all good High volume oil pump (take your pick of brands all good)(not an N1) Custom sump extension 9 litre sump with baffle doors for the rest of the car Do you turbo back exhaust system? Personaly i would have gone 700cc injectors Apexi pfc and hand controller 4.375 diff ratios frt and rr (gts4) 100mm cooler custom radiator ~50mm Oil cooler kit with thermostat afms (rb20/25 to 540rwhp and z32 above this) -
i believe the std gtr turbos are about a 230hp unit from memory
-
yes 90mm infinity units
-
your direction from really depends on what you plan to do with the car and what you want from it ,and i have to agree apexi pfc with hand controller great upgrade and will allow you to tune the car to what ever setup you go to in the further.
-
wot with the toy car in the signature havent got a real car tto post
-
I drive my 400rwkw gtr r33 most day and it drive fine on low boost setting you wouldn't know the difference to a low hp gtr (lag not at all)high you better hang on , the issues with lag depend on the turbo choice you can gain the hp you want from smaller turbo and keep good responce ,clutch if you buy or use a good brand it will not be an issue. Reliability depends as much on your driving habits and servicing as anything ,350kw can be happly obtained and maintain on std internals maybe for piece of mind you could go forged internals.

yet again a quote from a genius well anyone running a hks2835pro cant run more than bar you reckon thats funny i seem to remember there happy to at least 1.7bar ,god i can run 1.5 out of my 320hp garretts no problems(525rwhp) so i dont know why internals cant run more than 1 bar. The biggest advance with running an external wastegate over internal is it can reduce manifold back pressure and flow higher volumes gas. but most internals wastegate are well designed for the turbo there fitted to (in unalter state)and can produce good reliable hp. HKS,TOMEI,GARRETT etc etc do know how to design turbos and dont make as the quote above a useless waste gated turbo :kick:

Head chamber CC, RB26GTR and RB25DET
pnblight replied to Chris Wilson's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
one thing you guy might have over looked here it the piston to deck hieght of block the head and piston from 25 and 26 could be just as you said but if the piston to deck height could be quiet different (i dont know this just idea that could expain the problem) -
i got a stock r33 gtr ecu if you want it [email protected]

i didnt say they were the same thing but they perform the same task and champ had blow off valve not pop off valve i can quote published documentation but for any interested parties have a read off FORCED INDUCTION PERFORMANCE TUNING by Graham Bell .This guy is a legend and has lived and breathed race all his life and it is well worth the read. And someone tell me how a bov is for emissions is has no benefits for emission at all

HKS GTR manifolds
pnblight replied to RPMGTR's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
look i'm very interested but i'm not going to buy site unseen if you can send me some pics of them i'll take them but i need to know wot i'm buying cheers -
yes i know and they are all bov and proform the same task .whether a car use a vacuvm operated or spring set pressure unit. I personal know of no performance car that didnt run one or the other the WINFIELD GTR ran at 1.5bar bov and FORLUMA 1 IN 1988 were resisted to 2.3bar from memory they blow off valve service the same role as the vacuvm operate and you would gain no advanage to run both thats why you dont see this style on some race car but so say races dont use bov could be a bigger crock of shit

PFC in a R33 GTR - Knock Level's ?
pnblight replied to cameron's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
no mate that sounds like pinging under full throddle , factory system warns you normally around 60 knocks i think from memory and most people like to keep dowm toward 20 to 30 i believe -
no i'm not mistaken but you are right if you want to use that terminlogy but it was call a blow off valve and stop any spiking of boost pressure the same as the WINFIELD GTR ran so these cars could never have boost pikes like you would get with totaly enclosed system .And would bet a pretty penny that the leman had the same system.
