  1. the gt-ss is smaller but not by a great deal and if you have a poor responce from a rb26 with 2530's i don't believe changing to gt-ss will not make a great difference (small but not great) things like intake and exhaust system and cams and cam timing will play a much great roll in reducing lag HKS2530 trim 63 47.7mm 60.1mm 0.60a/r trim 76 53.8mm 47.0mm 0.64a/r GT-SS trim 56 44.46mm 59.41mm 0.42a/r trim 62 53.85mm 42.40mm 0.64a/r and for real life expirence i got better responce and early power from rb26 with GT2560R garrets(very simliar to 2530's) than i could from a Rb26 with HKS2510's (same cams and injector and ecu) i believe the difference was more in exhaust system and cam timing. And when i mean responce and early power i mean below 4000rpm. The hks 2510 still made 456rwhp so it was no lemon. My opinion is if your got the money to buy and try such turbo's you should have to money to tune and fit the equipment required to run them correctly or your wasting your money and time. And i think the person how think his 2530hks are to laggy has got other issues cause his problems with lag. pete
  2. Justinfox i'm interested to hear you say the 2530hks are to laggy, as they are a very good turbo and spool well when on a properly setup motor. I thing to note is the turbos themselves are not the only factor in what makes the turbo spool fast and early, i would place a fair size bet you have some other issues. As for turbo choice if you think the 2530's laggy run a mile from the GTRS's the GTSS will be slightly better than the 2530's (but only slightly) the other turbo you should concider is the Garret GT2560R 707160-5 as it spools very well. All these turbos need the engine setup right to get the benefits from them as i have seen a GTR with HKS2510's that felt very laggy and didnt spool well in comparison to mine but i don't believe it was just turbo related i did manage to improve it with some cam timing (which is hughly importane to spool) but yet tthis car still didn't perform as it should. And this was the second type of turbo this car had tried. So in nut shell i guess look at the whole picture before when it comes to turbo performance as it might be something else letting you down. pete
  3. Hi Brad, Glad to hear everything is ok and back together, interesting i got the crank plug cause right on the head Lucky guess i guess hehehe. I hope all runs smooth from here on in. I got to run the big girl at the race circuit monday and everything went beautifully, no dramas (thank god) was only run light boost as it was raining. What your plans from here tuning/run in etc? and did you manage to get all the run gear up to scratch? pete ps the rest of it i'm staying out of have had good help from all mentioned and i think steve will do a fine job on the tune
  4. Federals are not for the track for sure, i felt more like i was back on the stick clay at Claremont lol Time to put some nice rubber on my spare rimes. Topaz i was in the white r33 gtr pete
  5. Hi Guys, Was a great night even with the bad weather and i was very happy to have the R home in one piece with out missing a beat, with the motor so fresh (2,500kms old) only ran actuator pressure all night NOT that i could of used anymore power hehehe was slipping drifting everywhere BUT never put a wheel off thank god and ran careful 1.04. The instructors were excellent and i used the night to learn lines and pick there brains as my experience is all dirt track racing (very different). I look forward to the next event hopefully by then i will have some semi slicks or r comps and dry track so i can lean on the old girl. pete
  6. Hi Shane, All the info in here is very good and i think you should be starting to get a feel for what is needed for a good package to suit your purposes. In this case i would guide you toward twins for the linear power delivery and low end responce I will tell you this is only my opinion from time tuning and testing HKS turbos and Garret units ae all awesome HKS GTRS HKS 2530 Garret GT2560R 707160-5 these unit will all serve you well (and no i'm not saying a single cant be used well to achieve this it's just the twin are more user friendly in a circuit enviroment) I'm not sure on the 700bhp but if you can keep your power to and around the low 500's rwhp good have a chance for keeping the std run gear and box and please dont judge a 500rwhp+ car until been in one for a ride, more power then you'll even need for track duties. To achieve a reliable 500rwhp+ car will need sum real dollars and time and effort let alone gear. But shit man there nothing else like i have driven lol. One area you will have to address for such a powerfully car will be heat control as the more power the more heat is generated and has to be delt with. Nice radiator and oil cooler is a great start and even a low temp Nismo thermostat won't hurt. Another good investment is a custom large baffled sump. pete ps One small tip please buy yourself some new tomei or arp etc cam stud bolts as they are a weak point when you start running high lift cams.
  7. ok the t04z will make 700bhp when setup properly 260 deg 10.8mm would work fine but i think with a turbo that size i would most likely lean toward the 270deg 10.25mm (the more lift you run the more wear (maintain))as your setup is more towards the drag and outright hp setup then a track (ciruit)/streeter. There a r32 in wa running very close to this setup making good power and drag times BUT the power delivery misses some bottom end but hits very hard mid range which kills gearboxes (costly) and is not very helpfully for a fast track car (circuit), but the combo works but you need to be thinking beyond 700bhp as you right on the limit of alot of the other running gear (ie gearbox) which can add big dollars to the build. pete
  8. ok injectors you want 700cc sard dont bother with anything smaller the pfc run them perfectly and same cost as 550cc with good headroom. I wouldnt run poncams on std turbo mainly because your better off buying new turbos long before any cams much better investment and run the 260 inlet and 260 exhaust poncams if you buy any. Your std injectors will make up to ~high 300s rwhp so it depends on what rwhp your aiming at. If your sticking with std turbos you will not need injectors. pete
  9. Dude there way to big 700hp do you mean (bhp or rwhp?) As to make 700bhp you only need tomei poncams 260 9.15mm (std will make 600bhp) the 260 poncams are a perfect street/track cam if your more drag/street i would think 270 10.25mm would be perfect as i know of a number of guys running the HKS version of this for this style duty. 290 is about as big as tomei go meaning its for a full drag 1200bhp drag car and would not be streetable and the lift would be very hard on running gear requiring high maintain. pete
  10. KW told me he ran a rebuild n1 engine all nissan std part to a 10.3 with the twin trust turbo set he runs know for sometime before sell it to a motorkana dude (you need to be made some serious hp to run 10.3). His belief was the std engine is good to around 750bhp and the first thing he talked about braking was the block not the rods. pete ps i run forged rods for piece of mind
  11. any more detail on the turbos and manifold arrangement (waste gates etc)
  12. GTR R33 Block $750 GTR R33 Rods $300 (2 sets) GTR R33 turbo good nick $300 SS Manifolds $250 (you need to talk to me about these) Std Head Gasket $60 (2 sets) Intake and exhaust Gaskets $50 (2 sets) Pete [email protected] 0438934777
  13. With the upgrade of oil pump to N1 i would install a tomei oil gallery block restrictor , they are cheap and very easy to install and just help control oil flow to the head. If you haven't bought your head gasket kit just buy tomei metal head gasket kit as they have one in the kit or there like 500 yen on there own On another note are you doing any work to the head if so the exhaust valve clearances might catch you guy out as they run very loose clearance because of the special valves (they feel f..ked even when there fine) pete
  14. Great to hear Brad, Have fun running it in and dont baby it, it needs good varying load to bed in properly but i'm sure you guys got that cover if the rest of the car is anything to good by great job. When do you plan to up the limiter and tune and are you still using the dyno we talked about? pete
  15. you need to add more details for example is it a std rb30 bottom end, or Forged rods etc as i think the std rb30 bottom end will be your first weak link as the turbos got plenty in it. What cams, injectors and ecu and fuel pump?
  16. STILL CHANCING CABLE
  17. GTR R33 BLOCK $800(std) CRANK $800 SOLD PENDING PAYMENT RODS(X2 SETS) $250set pete [email protected] 0438934777
  18. GTR R33 BLOCK $800(std) CRANK $800 SOLD PENDING PAYMENT RODS(X2 SETS) $250set pete [email protected] 0438934777
  19. to me this sounds like a miss set parameter etc (ie like boost control unit enabled with no unit installed etc) i would when pfc re-installed do a complete check of all settings to ensure correct program setup ( i would place a very good bet it's a very simple problem you just need to find it) try and get hold of a similar setup pfc tune and use as a cross reference
  20. i'm with rev210 i think your bolt would have broken first causing the cam to break, the same thing happen to a set of hks cam in WA. On the bolt i will never reuse std cam bolts again after seeing two break on removable of cams for the rebuild. Tomei upgrade studs are not very $$ and well worth the money. pete
  21. I DONT KNOW WTF YOU ON ABOUT AND I NOT GETTING BLAMED FOR TAKING A GOOD THREAD ON LINE SO FINE SOMEONE ELSE TO WITCH HUNT again great work guys cant wait to read the future progress of these cars nxtime i got nothing against mark his the guy that supplied with gear for my motor and talk to him actionally (i dont bring him into this)
  22. buster you might want to read the state i posted and you quoted it doesnt say low mounts so you might want to tell KW, GTR700 and munro there got it wrong. As there a little quicker than mark and i know mark his no slouch but i dont think he will surpass the time gained by the above. SO DONT TRY and twist my words so say something there not pete ps and yes i am a fan of low mounts for all round performance
  23. It's great to see some low mounts out kicking ass GREAT STUFF guys AWESOME times. AND i also think that backyard engines are the go (more time, effort and care taken) I agree with cruiseliner that i hold a great deal of respect for people willing to give it a go themselves and don't just give there wallet a work out. pete ps who needs big single when twins do it better lol lmao
