  4. No definetely not, especially not with coilovers
  5. id stick to the 0.82, dont bother with the 0.63
  6. noo not the 'W' word!!! oh so painful to hear
  7. FYI.. r34 neo heads have a valve clearance of 0.20mm on both inlet and exhaust rb26 cyl heads have valve clearance of 0.38-0.45 cant remember exactly.. basically double, that is y neo heads r not as ticky as 26 heads even though both have solid lifters, mine is very slightly ticky, depends on oil thickness but its completely normal on the 26's... this thread is funny haha
  8. Thanks for the excellent replies guys, Just what i was after. oz.
  9. Hi all, Before i start, i am not referring to the noise a turbo makes when you come off throttle and a blow off valve is not in operation. This is not another one of those noob threads.. Im referring to compressor surge when on full boost WOT... its suprising how many tuners dont even know that this is possible? Now.. my friends car has just recently got a full tune done as his new engine is well and truly run in now. Its running a GT3082r with a 0.82 ex housing at 1.5bar on a stock stroke forged SR20DET via a 6boost manifold. Its running Brian Crower 280 degree cams, tuner hasnt bothered dialling them in yet.. Now we have noticed that when he has reached full boost a small chu-chu-chu noise starts from the turbo/air filter side but then slowly dissapears as the revs climb above 5500-6000rpm. Im convinced that this is some sort of compressor surge where the air is being pushed out of the turbo faster than that the engine can recieve forcing some air back onto the compressor wheel. So my questions are.. Will dialling the cams in help this problem as the intake cam could possibly opening too late or am I on the wrong track here? If not, how do we stop this from occurring without having to resort to getting surge slots drilled into the compressor housing? Cheers. oz
  10. whats the condition of the injectors and fuel pressure reg? afm? vacuum lines?
  11. get a thermostat in the system, this will allow ur engine oil to increase asap which is what u want but then keep it at that temp by openining and closing depending on the temp of the oil resulting in much more accurate oil temp just like your radiator i think thats very important as most people will tell you most of the engine wear and tear occurs when the oil is cold, minimising this will increase reliability in the long run
  12. oil pump failure like that can be from a combination of two things, tight clearances, perfhaps too tight + oil too thick what oil were you using? haha bubbas answer to all problems in life is a rb30det conversion
  13. KR4 is the paint code for the light silver colour
  14. id go with a 26 head also - while ur at it, may aswell make it a complete 26 motor
  15. nice work dude, im much happier now that the 3071r is now gone haha
  16. i have penrite 5w50 fully synthetic in the gtr, excellent oil pressure and oil temp very very rarely goes over 85, top end of engine is pretty quiet too for solid lifters i remember it being noticably louder ticking/tapping on idle when i was running 10w40, i also had lower oil pressure when i used to run 10w40, wont got back now sticking with 5w50
  17. thinking of entering.. anyone know how to go about insurance etc while on track ? or even possible engine failure insurance? muahaha
  18. thats a very neat sub install mate, may copy that idea with my 10" sub soon
  19. funny thread, thought i might add that my gtr gettings 20-30 knock reading on startup, doesnt matter hot or cold - i was thinking it might have to do with the twin plate / starter motor? i use ryco oil filters all the time, never have any problems, oil pressure develops very quickly
  20. hmm its a tricky one mate, if your not mechanically minded id go to a performance workshop, let them sort it out
  21. GTR's have vacuum assisted clutch master cylinders, you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere, this will make you use more of your own strength when the vacuum assistance is lessened. Sounds odd that its intermittent though. If your wondering why ur clutch pedal is heavier when engine is off, that is the reason and its completely normal. If it gets to the "engine off heavyness" while the engine is on then you Definitely have a leak.
  22. omg....... so cheap f**kkk
  23. will this burn out the transfer case clutches on thevspec 33 gtrs when put in full rwd mode??
