  1. Don't count on it being here and on the road in 4 months. There's all types of hassles yet. Sorry to be a bummer but just a little warning. I bought mine at the start of July last year and din't even lay eyes on it until March of this year. Then the fun starts. Anyway, having said that, well done and you'll never look back! Side intrusion bars, drivers side mirror, fuel filler restrictor, dashboard dimmer, child restraints plus a few other things under the 15 year rule. My seatbelts, sunvisors, etc all stayed and I didn't need side indicators or a high mount brake light. Should set you back around $1500.00. The big problem is that it's getting hard to find a 15 year engineer that will sign off for you if you did the work yourself, at least here in Vic it is.
  2. Which is exactly why my Mitsubishi work van and my little Suzuki Sierra do so many kays. I'm not loaded and it doesn't take much to go wrong with a GTR before you end up with a 'second car' sized repair bill. Plus, since I've had mine I'd say it's been off the road more than on (the urge to mod gets ya) and I'm in the process of pulling the RB26 out for a rebuild (forged rods, pistons, metal head gasket, etc). I live in the country and despite the lack of traffic, I don't think I'd want the heavy clutch, the hard ride or the exhaust drone everyday!
  3. I want to sell the ECU from my R32 GTR. It is a rechipped factory unit with the epoxied Mines chip added. My car was running 320 rwkw before I decided to go bigger and with the rebuild I want to go to a Wolf 3D, so that's the reason for the sale. As I've seen them go for over $500 on ebay and some wreckers are asking $995.00, I'll stick it on here for a couple of days at $500, then put it on ebay if no takers. Email me on [email protected] for details. I can supply pics tomorrow (Monday) as my camera is at work and I only pulled it out of the car yesterday. Feel free to pick up (I'm in Gippsland, Vic) or I will pay for postage.
  4. Great project guys, we need to keep old Skylines on the road. Unfortunately I sold all mine when my GTR arrived, not enough time or money Anyway, keep an eye on Ebay. I search 'Datsun' every day and you would be surprised at what turns up, including whole 240K's. Recently there was a brand new rear panel complete with a new set of tail lights! As for the motor, go the triple carby option (already mentioned) as that's what the original 110 GTR had. One more thing, I'm following an old couple around just waiting for the chance to give them an offer on their car. It's a blue 240 coupe that you would swear came off the showroom floor yesterday. I cream myself every time I see it
  5. Hey Prank, just checking out Project 240K. Awesome! Wish I'd never ditched mine. Will definitely be keeping an eye on it.
  6. LOL, none taken. I was being serious, it really is the sleekest shaped car I've ever owned. Whether it's boxy to others or not doesn't worry me! Once again, none taken. Anyway, on the go or show front, the motor comes out tonight. Hopefully 350 at the rears once we finish.
  7. R32 Boxy? Mine has to be the sleekest shape of any car I've owned. plus an R34 is way more boxy than a 32.
  8. Having said I'm go not show, damn you Dan for those Do Luck body pics - I WANT ONE!
  9. Exactly, which is why I am doing the performance mods first. If I then can find more cash a respray, etc, will be in order. IMO, a GTR is all about go, there are those that will disagree.
  10. Yeah, but I am one of those people that has had to work my arse off to get my car. It will happen one day (got head unit, colour scheme and wheels picked out) but while the cash is short it will all go on performance.
  11. Let's see, chipped and cracked front bumper, scratched rear bumper, no sound system, chipping on spoiler, broken after market aerial, shitty 16 " rims. 320 rwkw. Plus getting new forged pistons this week, metal head gasket, rebore and head work, adjustable cams. I'd say go not show.
  12. That loom looks like it has been hacked to pieces. If I had a scanner I'd post the ECU pinouts here form my R32 GTR workshop manual. It also looks like there are a few extra connectors in there and some wires that are fatter than any of the standard ones. As for the turbo timer handbrake sensor, I connected mine to the handbrake rather than into the loom at the ECU.
  13. I wasn't aware you can dl it for free nowadays, but that's cool. I was only offering as several people used to ask to buy a copy.
  14. I know they aren't hard to come by but I will sell copies of the full R32 GTR Workshop manual on CD Rom. They are in English and there is 804 pages in total. As for the headlight problem, can't help you. Mine arrived with only one low beam but it was just a globe.
  15. Mame: Matt Nic: Sooty Age:35 Location: Churchill, Gippsland Cars: 89 R32 GTR, 97 Suzuki Sierra Email: [email protected] icq: nope MSN: [email protected] Was wondering how many Gippslanders were on here, none I see.
  16. That's where I'm different. Ever since my parents got their first Bluebird in '81 (four days before they were officially launched) I've been a Datto man. Over the years the obsession turned more towards Skylines. Nowadays, a rusty C210 or 249K will turn my head before any Porsche, Bimmer, Merc, etc. I'll admit a Ferarri or Lambo would get noticed but then I'd see the factory fresh looking 120Y behind them and I'm back in Datto land.
  17. Hehe, you wont feel any different the day after you turn 30, it's 35 you have to worry about. Woke up last 2nd August and felt like crap, have done evr since. My mate reckons same thing happened to him in November. The way to tell is when you start getting stiff in all the wrong places :spew:
  18. Get rid of the 33 and get an R32 GTR. Would probably be cheaper than what you are proposing to do.
  19. It was the Libs that introduced most of the revenue raising laws, why the hell would they take them away again.
  20. Ooooh, AP Racing for $3500. Sounds tempting...........
  21. I know Brembo's aren't cheap but I don't want to put anything cheap on the car. Having said that, I'm not made of money do I will have to shop around. Good to know they go straight on. How much bigger are the discs?
  22. Thanks guys, looks like I better start saving for some R33 barakes!
  23. Yeah, it's the R33 Brembo's I wouldn't mind getting. But thanks anyway.
  24. I want to put 17" rims on my R32 GTR real soon (currently 16) and while doing it, I would like to upgrade my brakes to those off an R33 GTR, which I believe are bigger. Is there a lot of work involved, ie will they bolt straight on or will I need to fabricate some bits and pieces? Also, will I need to do front and back or can I get away with just the front.
