  1. I've just read this from start to finish. If I'm ever up your way I'm going to buy a slab of piss and catch up with you for a yarn, what a read - let alone build! Best of luck with it all
  2. I like to do things DIY as much as possible, but I think your right, it might be beyond my capabilities
  3. Attached is a picture of the two bars side by side - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/gallery/image/85524-photo/

  6. I thought I'd have a go at a DIY front bar respray, as I bought a Series 1 front bar to replace the stock Series 2 bar. I prepped it up well, and used a decent primer. I dropped down to my local Autobarn and get a few cans made up using the stock paint code. On the build plate, its stamped KV2. I bought 1 can, just in case the colour was wrong. After spraying the bar and letting it dry, it was obvious that the colour that they supplied in the can was differant to my car. I went back to the shop, and they confirmed they mixed it up to the right specs, and gave me a printout of the colours that went into the mix. Mine is a Series 2, and the colour the spare front bar is now would match the silver I have seen on some other 34's, but they have all been Series 1 models. To explain it a bit better, my car is quite a bit darker, like a dark silver with a hint of purple, where as this paint is a silver, with a bit of a blue hue to it. I'd really like to do this as a DIY, but the Autobarn won't match to a colour on the car, only to the code. Anyone got any idea's in terms of differing shades within the same codes or anything like that?
  7. I guess with everything happening so quickly - < 4 months, there is bound to be some dirt they will dig up on the guy. Personally, I hope that he isn't a fool and gets the required direction and some skills to represent motoring enthusiasts, otherwise this is going to hurt the motoring community rather than help. Now its up to the Party to get everything sorted out and represent themselves in a manner that will not harm itself in the first instance, and then represent the community moving forward
  8. Nah, if the guy selling them says only the +22 cleared, then I'd take his word for it! I'm sure he's had many returns for such a drama
  9. That's pretty conservative considering how achievable running 11.0 is really. Essentially it discourages people taking cars to the track, when it's the only legal place to use it to its full potential. I reckon as long as its got radial tyres, let it run until the owner is to scared to go any faster!
  10. Yeah, it doesn't clear the calliper according to the guy from Varrstoen
  11. I know you can get those very good fitting leather style covers for GTR seats, they'd update it nicely while being 'reversible' so to speak If done nicely without too much personalisation, I'm sure it wouldn't de-value the car
  12. Thanks mate It should nudge 200 pretty easily I'd imagine, and for every day driving it quick enough at the moment. Happy with the way its coming along. I've also got a Series 1 front bar with the factory lip, which should match up nicely with the skirts that are on the car. I've since sold the GTR style bar, as it just sits that bit too low and I kept bashing it into stuff. It was also quite wide at the guards, making it dwarf the wheels - this looked a bit odd to me.
  13. Its a shame the last one was rained out, but either way it should be prefect tomorrow! Shame the 10/10 Matsuri is on at 'lala on the same day/evening. I've already comitted to going up there for a look
  14. Few initial problems encountered and sorted out. Picked up a S/H Nistune, and had that tuned up. On the dyno, the viscous clutch in the fan wasn't disengaging - causing it to sound like a EL Falcon. So the tune was limited to a quick tidy up, as the fan was sapping the power. 193kw at the wheels was a decent outcome. I replaced the clutch in the fan with a decent second hand unit, and all was quiet - what a differance! Next problem - boost leak! I couldn't hear it before because of the fan going flat out. After much listening I couldn't find anything that seemed to cause the problem, so I decided to check the nuts on the exhaust manifold. All four had come loose, and once they had been tightend up, no more squeal on boost, and the car 'feels' like its going much better. I had been looking at swapping the wheels since taking ownership of the car. At 18 x 8, 38 offset - they sat quite conservatively on the car, and looked quite small for 18's. I really want to run at least a 255 wide tyre on the back too. I posted up a swap add on Gumtree, and a guy with a Stagea had a nice set of rims he wanted to swap. 18 x 8.5 front and 18 x 9.5 rear, black and silver Drifz 520 rims. So I swapped them over last night, pretty happy with them. Not sure of the offset, but they sit close to flush with the guards, and fill them out nicely Next up, 100k service and tidy up the Nistune with the leaks and fan fixed
  15. Yeah I'll have to check out your build thread! You pop up allot when it comes to GTT mods
  16. Thought I'd dig this up and see what the outcome was. I'm finding the big differance compared the the GTR airbox is that the snorkel on the GTT feeds the top half of the airbox, while the GTR feeds the lower half - making it way easier to open up the GTR airbox and get it flowing better. Any airbox mod to the GTT has to be done to the top half, which will look a bit more obvious / possibly not work as well. Looking at my airbox, the inlet is tucked right into the corner, with lots of plastic ribs close to the location of the airflow meter. Anyhow, if you guys had any decent results with the stock box I'd be keen to hear
  17. What made it worse, was the reason there ended up being two claims was a mix up with the location of the accident. However, as it was right out the front of there CBD branch, I failed to see how they could have stuffed that up as well
  18. NRMA are called SGIC over here. Last year, i clipped the back of a brand new Audi while turning out of a city street. Totally my fault, as I thought he'd cleared off and I was looking back the other way so I didn't get hit from other traffic. Anyhow, it was a small scratch along his bumper, which took out a reversing sensor, about 2.5k damage - steep, but thats why you have insurance. I got the letter from his insurance company, and paid my excess the next day to get it all sorted, all up it was less than 2 weeks. Fast forward 8 months, I get a letter from a debt collection agency, threatening legal action if I don't pay for the repairs! Called SGIC up, and they haven't paid anything for the repairs - they reckon the didn't get a copy of the assesment, which was BS as I handed it all in over the counter. They said they'd sort it out. Two months later, get another letter! They still hadn't paid the poor guy. So almost a year after the fact, they finally pay up. On top of that, when looking for insurance for the 34, my details showed 2 claims against my name for the same incident. Took ages to get that sorted out too.
  19. I've recovered fishing gear that had been stolen years ago when I moved house. You'd hope it's legit, but I'd imagine 90% of the gear there has been knocked off. Most of it is overpriced garbage, however I thought that was a bit of a bargain
  20. Dropped past Cash Convertors at lunch today, in Gouger street Somewhere I don't often freqeunt but I was looking for a decent picture frame for a Fathers Day idea I had. Anyway, spotted what looks to be brand new RB high mount manifold with external wastegate for $145 Thought I'd post it up on here, incase anyone was in the market, or had one stolen!
  21. I just want to know whats out there really, when I'm ready to buy a set of wheels I'll grab a genuine set if available. Started the thread just to see whats out there really
  22. Miro 398 rims look alright too, similar to Varrstoen's knock off's I do like the Enkei rims, very well priced for what they are!
  23. All sorted, took 5 mins to reprogram one of the chips. Great service, considering it was a second hand unit. Big thumbs up to Nistune
  24. Alright, I'll get it looked at
  25. PDW Replay Rims are similar to TE37's too
