Is it worth popping one on though for later on down the track with a bigger turbo/injectors? I've read pages of old threads today and everyone has a differant opinion, most of which seems to suggest the standard NEO cams do a pretty good job without adjustment. What gains or lack of did you guys experience?

Any definative answer on a Exhaust cam gear for a RB25 NEO? I've got the 100k service coming up and want to know if its worth popping one on. Still stock turbo, but will upgrade later on down the track. If its only a few KW I don't think I'll bother

R34 Gtt Fault Code 33 - How To Clear Heated Oxygen Sensor
Chris32 replied to neopowered34's topic in General Maintenance
Nah, defiantley was between 13.2 - 13.7 under reasonably light load / light acceleration up to crusing speed. I woulddn't have thought you'd acheive perfect stoich mixture, even at idle? Anyhow, car was on the dyno making sure the Nistune I put in was functioning right, and it was only the WOT settings that ended up being tweaked to suit. We'll be looking at the light load stuff when I've got a bit more time. So far though, I'm getting better economy than the stock ECU which means its all going in the right direction- 18 replies

R34 Gtt Fault Code 33 - How To Clear Heated Oxygen Sensor
Chris32 replied to neopowered34's topic in General Maintenance
Yeah I unplugged it and gave it a quick spray with rp7, been good since. Checked the air fuel ratio on the dyno and it was a constant 13.7/1 at cruising speed/throttle- 18 replies

R34 Not Starting With Nistune Ecu. Not Priming The Pump
Chris32 replied to Chris32's topic in General Maintenance
Been in touch with Nistune, its a known issue with a batch of the boards they used in the R34 ecu, and they will repair it for me. Hopefully that fixes it -
Just getting back into Skylines after quite a while away, and there looks to be a heap of 'copy' rims of popular japanese rims. I've done a few searches and came up with the brands listed below. So far, I reckon the Rota's, Drift-Tek's and Varrstoens seem to look pretty good, and suit the late 90's shape/style of most Skylines etc. Have I missed any that I'm not aware of? There is plenty of info in the wheel offset thread in terms of what fits etc, but I thought I'd ask. If anyone has some pics of what they have that would be great

R34 Not Starting With Nistune Ecu. Not Priming The Pump
Chris32 replied to Chris32's topic in General Maintenance
It's really weird! I HAVE to turn the car onto Acc then back it off, put the key back in then turn to Acc again and I can hear it prime, then I fires first crank I guess it's a handy security feature! -
Another possibility is the bearing on the viscous clutch for the fan. See if the fan has play in it. I just put a s/h one on my car and the bearing was stuffed, it sounded really bad. If I hadn't had just put it on, I would have thought I'd done a big end bearing! You could wobble the fan a few mm side to side. Replaced with another unit and it's silent now!

Bought a secondhand Nistune the other week. Plugged it in the other day and had the map adjusted etc, all works well. However, it's failed to start twice so far! When you turn the key to start, it cranks but doesn't fire. The fuel line doesn't pressurise, and it won't start. The first few times, turning the key back a turn and then trying again resulted in the fuel pump coming up to pressure and starting no problems. This morning after 20 mins stuffing about I put the stock ecu in, and it fired first crank. Is this a setting problem within the Nistune or a problem with the ecu? Plugging the Nistune back in once it cranked over resulted in it firing first go too - which confuses me!

Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
Chris32 replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
This might sound daft, but I used Bendix 4WD pads in my 32 years ago. They do a 4WD heavy duty pad. 80 series landcruiser pads fit perfect (my old mans car) they pulled up great, no noise and bugger all brake dust -
Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines

Nice, they do seem to fit well. I'm guessing that a 34 will have very similar fit -

Ok, I've since found out only the 18x9.5 +22 clears the brake calliper in the Varrestons on the front. Might be a bit too aggressive fit -

Ok nice. That fitment at the front is probably a bit too aggressive for what I'm after - but a 34 offset as opposed to a 20 should sit in nicely I guessing. C'mon tax return! -
Wheel Sizes & Offsets For Skylines

Cool, so 18x9.5 + 34 would probably fit OK at the front and no worries at the rear I'm guessing. The hard part for me is getting me head around the offsets! Being 12.7mm wider but sitting in 4mm more they'd poke out 8.7mm more than 34R rims? Does that calculation sound about right? If I run the same size/offset front and back, will the track me the same front and back? The tyres I have now are 235/40's and if possible I'd like to use them, as they are good quality tyres -

After some info for fitment of Varrstoen 2.2.1 on a R34 4 door - 9.5" version. Best I can find so far seems to be - +30 with a 235/30/18, it won't hit the guard at all and it won't have poke. Ideally you'd want 9" +25 front with 235/40 (v little stretch) and 10" +35 rear (with 265/30/18). Or 9" +25 front and rear. This pic here - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=396593 Don't know the specs on this, but I want to get it close to flush, but not sitting outside the guards at all. Being a daily, I want to keep it as legal as possible while looking the way I want it too. I've email Varrstoen, with no reply. I'm running 18x8 or 8.5 at the front now and they scrub when turning around a bumpy corner, but not at all during normal driving. The front guards have been rolled slightly by the previous owner, but nothing too extreme, no guard lining at all. I've seen how R34 GTR rims sit, they are 18x8 +30 from memory? Looking for that sort of fit. As much as I'd love to poke the rims and stretch the tyres, being a daily its got to be reasonably tame Chris -

R34 Gtt Fault Code 33 - How To Clear Heated Oxygen Sensor
Chris32 replied to neopowered34's topic in General Maintenance
Mine threw up this code yesterday, it came on after a bit of a spirited drive. It went away for around 30 mins but came on this morning on the way into work. Definatley a dud sensor then, or does it just overheat when on boost and then come good? My car too has a split dump pipe- 18 replies
