Picked up my pump today They are much much bigger compared to a 040, should do the job well Hopefully I will have it in by the weekend
-
That would be good mate, thanks Mine was wired up with a relay, Tilbrooks did it a while ago Awesome with the housings, will be good to see the results. Mine will be tuned when the pump is done, not enough top end power ATM
-
Nah, haven't checked that How can I check it? Multimeter on the power wires at the connector next to the pump in the boot?
-
yeah, pretty good point I play a bit of golf too, driving with a se of clubs in the back, they might bash into the surge tank and cause a bit of a drama For a mostly street car, i think I will stick to a in tank setup Has anyone seen a surge tank mounted under the car? I know there isn't much space back there, but I think it would be possible........
-
Will be talking to Shaun in the next day or so I can't see it being too much of a hassle swapping from a 040 to a 044, just need to work out what to do with the strainer Still thinking about a surge tank..................but not sure if its entirely nessacary Chris
-
Clint - I have thought about it, but not sure if a surge tank is worth it considering most of the driving the car see's is on the road. What does it cost approx to get a surge tank etc 26GTS - pics of yours would be good

I have a 2.5" front pipe for sale, to suit R32 GTSt. It goes from the dump pipe to the cat convertor. Upgraded to 3.5" exhaust Was on my car when it was making 205rwkw, asking $100 RSR cat replacement pipe, kind of like a tiny muffler, straight through 3" asking $70 for that will send interstate at buyers expense Chris
-
Just a quick question, I currently have a Bosch 040 pump, which looks like it is on the way out how much harder is it to mount a 044 into a R32? I don't have the factory strainer, as the 040 replaced the whole lot - can you get a strainer assembly aftermarket or will I need to hunt a s/h one down, Cheers, Chris

Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?

Good to see mate, back at work now. Shaun pretty busy due to the 4,6 and rotor nats, so car won't be tuned until then. Mine is down a bit of power atm, suspect I have a dodgy fuel pump as it was starting to get a bit of detonation Good to see its all working again, are you still in town? -
Awesome stuff mate, good to see it all coming together Ready for the Nats? About sometime there was a crazy 32 GTSt about! Something for the rest of us to look at for inspiration
-
Not happy with it mate? Might know of a 2835ProS that could be for sale in the future If I could get another turbo I'd be looking at a HKS GTRS, one of those would be great, or even a 2530, depending on what power you where after Peak power isn't of much concern to me anymore, I'd rather more power over alot of the rev range rather than everyhting in the last 2000rpm
-
Hasn't been on the dyno since that graph, since then I have fitted a electronic boost controller and full 3.5" exhaust and dump pipe (that dyno was with a 2.5" dump/front pipe and bleed valve) so it holds boost fine now. A bit of a tidy up on the tune and then it should make a good number
-
Bit of a update, with Christams etc is was hard to get anyhting done! 3.5" dump is on, from the back of the turbo to the tail pipe is 3.5", no nasty changes in sizes, cat, centre muffler - nothing. Going from 2.5" to 3.5" has made a big differance The car makes more boost everywhere, so the old exhaust was a restriction, sounds a bit louder but not much. Also pops the odd 3ft flame out past the spoiler, dunno if this is a good thing or a bad thing yet :flamed: It was going to be tuned too, but the dyno was busted so nothing will be done until after this week, but thats cool becasue I have 4 weeks off to get it all right Should be good for a few more kW's now

Chris32 replied to RBsileighty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah, I don't reckon you'd need more than 550cc injectors on a stockish RB20 I have seen somewhere on the net a RB20, bored and stroked to 2.4L, with a Greddy T88-33D turbo, making near 700PS. It was used in a RWD slick equiped R32 drag car, from memory it ran low 10's. That used 720cc injectors I think, but I may be mistaken 550cc injectors would be the go for a RB20 if you want to make over 280rwkw, up to that I reckon the GTR 440's should be fine. No need for over 700cc injectors unless you are chasing 600+ HP I reckon -
RB20DET Popping Noise from exhaust (after 4000rpm)

Check all of the above, plug, coils etc a mate of mine also had a similar problem, it would only occur now and then, it turned out to be the crank angle sensor had come a little loose at some stage and it had chewed all the gearing of the exhaust cam - result - new exhaust cam and CAS had to go in, and problem fixed Check to see if the CAS is tight, or even pull it off and have a look at the splined gear inside, if its all chewed up, chances are thats your problem Chris -
Clint, you can get them at Greenline - http://www.greenline.jp/catalogue/bccatpar...&category=other Not sure of anyone who is selling one of those or a copy in Aus. See if you can get a mould of Kier's car! So your car is looking good for the Nationals? Can't wait to see how it goes - if you need crew for the Nationals, let me know Chris
-
My GTSt used to do this, I found 2 vacuum leaks, and it fixed the problem Check on your boost gauge at idle, with no vacuum leaks it should read around -0.5bar Hope this helps P.S - my leaks where on the vacuum line going to the stock boost gauge and one on the fuel pressure regulator line Chris

CARBURETER SALES & SERVICE (S.A.) 6 Little Rundle St Kent Town 5067 (08) 8132 1465 Fax Kent Town 5067 (08) 8363 6373 I think his name is John, cleaned my GTR injectors and got them flowing within 2% of eachother. He gave the terminals a clean as well, made sure everything was 100% From memory it cost me less than $150, I think it was about $130 Chris

Hi Gordon, Sorry to hear you have had a few drama's Should be able to get the caliper fixed and re-threaded, I'm sure your not the first person to do it. Hows this, when I put my 33 brakes on, I couldn't bleed them properly, and after going through a litre of motul brake fluid, it still didn't feel 'right'. Went to a workshop, 'casue I thought I bleeding it in-correctly - turn out I put the calipers on the WRONG SIDE!! and the bleed nipple was at the bottom, air was being trapped up top and not being able to be bled out!! I'm sure it will work out ok and be fixed no probs, Chris

Geez mate, very sorry to hear. If you need any wiring, I have my spare motor at home with most of the wiring for injector harness etc, its yours if you need it no probs Bad Luck mate, they say bad luck comes in three's so hopefully thats all for now Regards, Chris P.S - dump pipe flange has been made, being done after chrissie -

The bigger the dump/exhaust, the less backpressure and more power potential -

Hey mate, been really busy at work so haven't been able to get on here much of late! Roy's tune is quite conservative compared to mine, heaps more fuel jsut about everywhere once on boost (bigger turbo kinda does that!) but much less igntion timing up top, I guess due to the tuner wanting to keep the motor alive under track conditions My tune will need looking at as soon as my dump pipe gets finished (been almost 5 weeks waiting for a custom flange ) Mine now gets quite lean up top due to switching from a bleed valve when it was tuned to a EBC which is holding boost up top much better. Last friday I had a run up at Mallala It was getting pretty high on the knock indicator as soon as I ran more than 1 bar, even with 100 octane fuel it would get up around 30-40. I ended up adding fuel and taking a degree of timing out, but then fuel pump drama's set in and I was unable to run much more For the sake of this thread - my car is as follows Standard RB20 - 143,000kms, stock cams and manifolds HKS 25~ turbo, 2.5" dump and front (to be replaced with 3.5") PFC, GTR injectors and PFC boost control kit tuned at 17psi with bleed valve, with boost dropping back to 14psi 205rwkw Next mod is dump pipe and re-tune and see what it makes, anything over 200rwkw with a RB20 is excellent power The ex-JMS yellow Silvia used to make around 250rwkw with some sort of Trust turbo Clint32's car also used to make almost 240rwkw, and has run a 12.8 at 113mph -
Got mine done at www.shockreco.com, in QLD, cost $150 per shock (coilovers) Work as good as new
-
Did around 30 laps of Mallala on friday, brakes where the best part of the car, felt very strong. Fuel pump problems meant I couldn't test them to there full potential, but it pulled up time and time again from 170+kmph no problems

Yeah, my sealing ring was split completly, so no seal at all. I am going to try and find some rubber and make my own seal, something a bit better
