nah, speedo is fine I know on a mate 33, we took the dash/speedo out to be replaced and the power steering would not work properly without the dash being in, so maybe it gets its speed signal from that, and then works out how much power steering is needed etc
-
Yeah, it bled fine, no probs apart from the marks on my driveway Might jack it up and give it another go tomorrow and see if that makes a differance, but it is definatly better than before
-
I wouldn't know if my HICAS light was on, as I pulled the bulb out around 3 years ago! My bet is that my problem was just air in it, and needed a quick bleed
-
Well, last night it came good! I was playing around trying to loop the HICAS, I did a little experiment by un-doing the HICAS plugs I have, and starting the car. To my surprise, there was no fluid present in the HICAS lines at all, even when I started it, turned the wheel etc. So the Tomei HICAS circuit looks like it doesn't allow the solenoid to open at all, hence no pressure being sent/lost in the HICAS lines Talking to a guy at repco, he suggested, with the car off and the keys in the ignition so you car turn the wheel, to do 3 or four full lock turns left/right, to bleed the power steering rack After thinking about it, I figured that if the HICAS lines are blocked, hence not comepleting the power steering fluid circuit completely, perhaps there might be air in there, so I tried his trick............. and bugger me, it worked! It feels much better ( as stupid as it sounds I can't be sure how it felt before, I have gotten so used to the heavy wheel lol!! ) If it stays the way it is now forever, I'd be happy! So looks like problem was air trapped in the rack, after power steer pump replacement, and having the HICAS lines blocked, the air couldn't get up to the resivior under normal circumstances After speaking to the guy at the wrecker I got my pump off, he said to be sure, start it and get it up on a hoist and crack the lines going to the rack to see if any air gets squeezed out of them too So for now, problem solvered!! Chris

They are low impedence, they would work with a GTR resistor pack no probs, or if you can switch resistance on the Wolf, they will work no probs. I am pretty sure when I was looking at the Wolf stuff you can set it up for high or low impedence injectors Would be a good upgrade over stock Chris

Upgrading my brakes, so mine are up for sale - details - R32 GTSt calipers, with slotted rotors, plenty of meat left on the rotors, but need a machine. No pads, as they are worn out Used with Racebrake RB74 pads, so the rotors didn't cop much abuse The calipers are painted gold, with the Nissan part in red, they look quite neat I have attached a pic, but I have since re-painted them and they look much better Selling complete, will not seperate Asking $450, but will consider offers, buyer pays postage cost OR.......................... Swap for a set of DBA 4000 series rotors to suit R33 GTS25T (296mm rotor) No COD, I will COD the postage part (you pay me for the brakes and then pay Aus Post for the shipping) but sue to me being shafted in the past with COD, I will not be offering COD for the whole lot I will be taking them off next week, so they will be available early next week Chris

Rubber door/window seals, I will take them if they are in ok condition Chris -
I hope no one has lost more than a few hundred, I can see this getting messy real quick if thats the case Hope everything gets cleared up Chris

Its funny, I got what I ordered, but it was only a backpack worth $45 How much have other people spent?
-
HICAS is plugged, but it has the Tomei ecu circuit wired in so in theory it shouldn't be pumping anything So you reckon to loop the HICAS? Might have to give it a shot Why would it be fine for over a year, and only get problems now? Also, how much pressure goes to the HICAS rack? If I was to plumb it to return, I'd have to cut the old hoses and join them up, would a few hose clamps suffice?
-
Put me down for a $30 set, PM me for payment etc Chris
-
hhhmmmmmmmm, makes no sense though, as it has had the HICAS lock on there for ages with no problems at all????
-
I have a power steering problem, if anyone else has had this problem and could help me out that would be great - Steering wheel feels heavy, like there is almost no power assistance - - Replaced power steering pump with another pump, and it still has a heavy wheel and is exactly the same as before - Fluid level checked and is fine I have my HICAS locked, it has been replaced with a solid setup, and the lines have been plugged with a steel shim. This setup has been on there for over 12 months with no problems I have been told that if its not the pump, it must be the rack, but I just want to know if it could be anything else Anyone? Chris

I'd say you might start to get traction problems mate, as with more power + less speed, I reckon will result in wheel spin Mine comes on pretty hard at about 50ish, haven't really looked at the speedo, but sometimes is does wheelspin, depends on the road surface etc I'd wait until you get a few good laps in and see what its like on the track, I reckon it would be perfect!

Slotted Brake rotors - can anyone hook me up with a good deal?
Chris32 replied to Chris32's topic in South Australia
Ok cool Joel, good job! When are you getting yours? perhaps if we both organize something we can get them at a better rate? -
Need some R33 front rotors, let me know what you have, Chris

I'd be keen if you could get a decent price for DBA 4000 series - part no. 4963 - 296mm slotted rotor to for R33 GTS25T, left and right would need them by the 22nd or 23rd of November though......... -
Slotted Brake rotors - can anyone hook me up with a good deal?
Chris32 replied to Chris32's topic in South Australia
Yeah, I thought Autospeed was a bit pricey, although a few places over here have qouted me $350++ What rotors did Autobarn price you on Joel? as that price is very good! Pad wise I ran Ultimates, but found them too dusty, so when I got the slotted rotors I ahve now (standard R32 size) I got a set of Racebrake RB74 pads, which are by far the best brake pad I have ever used, so I will be using these again. Also been on for 25,000kms, so they last a while, and living in the hills, the brakes are used quite a bit 32/33 pads are the same thing aren't they? I have about 40% left on my current ones, and was hoping to use them -
Dump pipe came of no probs, made sure I gave the bolts a good soak and didn't snap anything! Problem was the two dump pipes had differant exhaust stud pattern, so it all came off ok............and had to go back on 3.5" dump next week, funnily enough, my car is making 205rwkw with a 2.5"dump and front pipe...........and a pair of 2" gaskets on the cat...........dodgy!! Just by replacing the gaskets saw boost jump up a bit, so hopefully with a 3.5" dump, there is a few more kw's to be had Cheers for all the help/suggestions guys Chris

Chris32 replied to Chris32's topic in South Australia
Group buy would be good, but I need mine for 22nd of November, as I have a few days off to get my car up to scratch for a upcoming track day Joel, was that price for slotted rotors? Autospeed want around $270 ea Might even go with machined up stock rotors, being a fiar bit bigger than the R32 rotors, they should still work better even if they are not slotted Chris -
I am going from what a mate was told, as he got some pads off them, but from memory they said that they will work just as well with normal rotors, but I think I will go slotted anyhow, I will chase up a few prices on the DBA 4000's, if anyone knows of/or can get me them at a good price, please let me know Chris
-
Roy - no probs mate, I will get it done asap and email it to you, I want to record the current tune and compare them both after a bit of tweaking with the new dump pipe etc. Joel/Roy - Yeah, the exhaust flanges was quite interesting, goes to show how much some of these 'performance' wreckers/importers care about some people's car. First of all me paying $200 for a supposed 3" front pipe ( I should have measured it ) and then having it fitted with massively undersized gaskets - a complete joke, and to think I payed a extra $50 for them to fit it........thinking they would do a good job! Boost doesn't drop away as much as before, but as my power steering is buggerd, on road testing was limited Looking like early next week for the dump pipe to be made up, should be good Chris
