Can I come along in my mums Civic? Obviously my R32 GTSt is no sufficent for such a 'top end cruise' :whackit:
-
Can't help you out with the colours of the wires Steve I put the pump in myself, then Mark had to re-wire it and put a relay in for me. This all happend when it was being re-mapped, before the Mick dynasty
-
Pm'd you back One thing we know for sure, either pump will do the job just fine Chris
-
What I mean is, when it is fed fuel by a helper pump - ie mounted externally out of the fuel tank as it was designed to, it will outflow the 040 When it has to suck fuel up itself, as it does mounted internally, it flows the same as a 040 What I have been told by all the people in the know anyhow
-
Also one thing to note, Tilbrooks install a relay when they installed my 040 to increase performance, might be something to look into as well
-
I would explain if I knew for sure, I am just passing on what I have been told I have been told by alot of people, and the guy that sold me my pump, Mick at Tilbrooks etc Have you seen either of the pumps? The 040 has a large filter/strainer at the bottom, the 044 has a small inlet for fuel hose, which people then attach a strainer too with a short length of hose, this must restrict it somewhat. I think when the 044 has to suck fuel up from the tank, and then pressurize it, and then pump it under pressure to the fuel rail it doesn't flow what its rated at. When it recieves constant flow from a surge tank or a small lift pump etc it will then perform to its rated flow, and out-perform the 040 I think its just a matter of using them for there intended purpose. In tank, the 040 is best suited and works well, and when mounted in tank the 044 works well, but apparently will flow the same as a 040 when it is mounted in the tank. Hope this makes sense, as I am just passing on what I have been told That said, many people are running in-tank mounted 044's but from what I understand there is no benefit in running the bigger pump unless it is mounted externally and is fed the fuel, rather than having to suck it up Chris
-
044 is for external use, the 040 is for in tank use The 044 will only flow as much as the 040 when mounted in tank, but will flow more when used as a extrenal pump as it was designed to do best if you are chasing big power (350rwkw) would be to use your stock pump as a feeder for a 044, or better still get a small surge tank setup From what I have been told, the 040 in tank pump is good for 300rwkw Going by what I have been led to believe anyway...........

I spoke to the owner (or formaer owner a while back), it had a Apex'i turbo, smallish trust intercooler (still in stock location) extra injector etc. I had a chat to him when it was for sale, as I thought it was a GTR. He told me it was making 185rwkw at 18 psi boost Sounds like its had a few changes since if its the same car Nice looking car
-
Cool, will give him a call Cheers, Chris

Awesome!, thats a heaps good price Steve, can I ask where you are getting them from? might get another set for the back of mine Apparently there was some type of replacemnt deal going on with the first series of RE55S due to the wrong compound, might see if they will swap mine Make sure they are hard compound, and you'll be laughing Bye Bye understeer Chris

I tried a lot of pressures in the Azenis, they seemed to work best at around 30-32psi. Anymore and they would tend to get a bit skatey under brakes. Grip was pretty good, but on the road they didn't have chance to get decent temperature into them, on the track once they were hot, they gripped well. One thing I didn't mention is that they were extremley noisy due to the tread pattern The SO3's have a really stiff sidewalls, probably the stiffest that I have seen other than RE540/RE55S when they where of the rim. Both Freebaggin and myslelf had a good look at this when we were looking for tyres, and they have really strong sidewalls. I think that is why they were a good match for the RE55S's on the back Let me know if you want to give mine a try, at least you will be able to compare them with what you have now
-
I have a set of 17x7's with 235/45 SO3's on at home, more than welcome if you want to come up and put them on and go for a drive to see what you think They are have about 65% rubber left on them, and have a bit of cmaber wear etc, but they would give you a good judge on how they handle etc Better than spending $500+ dollars and finding out they are not what you like etc Chris
-
For front tyres on a car like yours Steve, I'd go for something really high end, and the SO3 is a great tyre Enrico - all tyres will wear, as long as they are alligned properly there is no reason you can't get good kms out of them. I'd say for SO3's you should be able to get 20-25000km out of them if you keep them rotated etc. SO2's where much softer than the SO3's though, on HSV's they where struggling to get 10,000km out of them, SO3's are better Steve, ask Freebaggin how good his SO3's are on the front of his car, from what he has told me they have got him out of a few interesting moments Just my opinion though, as I have had both on the front, and SO3's were by far the better tyre

Anyone got an aftermarket turbo on an rb20?
Chris32 replied to makaveli's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'd maybe look at a 2535 or even 2835ProS, both should be efficient at around 250rwkw Might be a bit too big of a ask for a 2530, but I guess until someone tries it, we wont know -
I wish Steve!! The ones that I have are well past the wear indicators, and I managed to pick up a nail yesterday in one. I will most probably get it reapaired and then just keep them for a few runs at AIR or a track day. They are a very very soft tyre, much softer than RE540S. Shame Laurie has left Bridgestone in town, as he used to give killer deals - I got my RE55S for $330ea, retail they are around $480. The new guy there seems ok, but price wise is similar to all the other outlets I wouldn't reccomend the RE55S for a daily driven car, mine lasted about 2 1/2 months of everyday use, and only a fraction of that was driving fast - wear was shocking. Even yesterday, I did about 6-7km of 'spirited' driving, and your could see how much they worn, you can almost pick rubber of with your finger nails when they are warm I have had a set of Azenis semi slicks as well, IMHO get a set of Bridgstone SO3's for the front. They are by far the best match for a road tyre with a set of R spec tyres on the back. I switched from Azenis to SO3's, they were much much better tyres - grip everywhere even in really wet conditions. The Azenis are ok, but the SO3's were miles better in every way, and they dont wear as fast - my set on the front of my 17's have done over 9000km and are still in great condition, and they use the same rubber all the way through, so they don't get hard and slippery when they wear a bit Any questions just ask Chris

Got the tyres fitted on the back on Saturday So far so good, will wait until they scrub in before I pass judgement on them. Been raining on and off on the weekend so not ideal weather to test tyres in Seem to be very good in the wet so far, only done about 250km on them Swapped them to the front yesterday, and they seem to be quite good. The tyres previously were 205/55, and they were a tad small and streched on a 7.5"rim With the 225's on the front, it feels a heap more stable and predictable. While swapping them over, just for a laugh, I whacked on my 17x9" rims with Bridgestone RE55S semi slicks on the back just to remind me what REAL grip is, I forgot how good these tyres where! So far so good, am gettting another two this weekend, so hopefully should feel good with the FM901's all round Chris
-
could always go for a s/h GTR pump, they are good for around 270rwkw
-
just get some standard plates then, no one will suspect what is lurking under the bonnet
-
cool, look forward to it So have has either you or Joel shotgunned some custom plates yet - "R32-31T would look cool Chris

Please no more SR v RB talk, it makes my head hurt From what I see Meggalla's results were posted for comparison, rather than to say one is better than the other But either way keep it up, its fun to read -
