    Prang :(

Joel, I have just put a GTR bonnet on my car, and have my original bonnet. I am still deciding on wether to keep it as a spare in case I end up dinging mine or getting rid of it, if you are keen let me know and I will have a think about it Bad luck on the accident, Chris
  3. would it be worth putting in some cheap mineral oil and giving it heaps to try and get the rings to bed in?? FAT32, what oil did they use to run it in?
  4. Seems to be around $250-300 depending on kms etc. Sydneykid has done four swaps There are many threads going at the moment, most of it is covered in them Chris
  5. small world hey Will be very keen to see the finished low mount/stock turbo location manifold, looking forward to seeing a few pics of how it all looks Chris
  6. hey guys, pm's sent Cheers, Chris
  7. ok, cheers, will give it a go Thanks
  8. Give this guy a try. [email protected] he has a few things he has made on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=2474555532 His work looks great, he is making up stock turbo location as well as high mount manifolds to suit RB20/25, and should have one ready within a month. I have been in touch via email a few times with him, seems like a honest person Worth a try, hope it helps Chris
  9. has anyone got these as MP3, or know were I can get them Need some good crusin music Chris
  10. Cheers, now just need to find a set and I'll be right! I will get some cam gears as well to optimise the whole setup Thanks for the info, those pulley settings seem to be what everyone ends up at with RB26's, would those settings still apply for RB20? I guess the best test will be to install them and have a play on the dyno to see whats best, but I guess they will be a good starting point Chris
  11. I am also keen on doing this, SK - have you noticed any differance between R32/33/34 GTR cams? each one seems to come out with differant torque from the factory, just wondering if this is cam related or something else? Seems like a really good mod, I assume there are further gains to be had with adjsutable cam pulleys as well? Any setting you can recommend to try? Chris
  12. Thinking of getting some standard RB26 camshafts to install in my RB20 Let me know if you have any, I'm in no rush and looking to see what prices they go for etc Cheers, Chris
  13. I got my GTSt when I was 19, nearly killing myself within 5 minutes of owning it was a big wake up call for me. Powerful turbo cars with drivers with very little or no experience is a bad idea - a GTR at 17 is a VERY bad idea. Not saying every under 20 driver is a bad driver, but everyone does something stupid when they are that age, and the fact is a car like a turbo Skyline things happen before you realise - and sometimes its to late I live in a semi-rural area, with lots of hilly roads. On the way into work I drive past 5 fatal crash sites within 2 minutes of my house, all drivers under 20, in newish fast cars If you do manage to get a GTR or anything even half fast, advance driver course is a minimum, and also try and keep passengers out of the car becasue at 17, in a GTR, the chances of a big mis-hap are immense Chris
  14. Good to hear he does a good job, any chance of a contact number etc? Bummer about the drags being cancelled, has it been re-scheduled or is that it until next month? I'm sure your efforts will pay off whatsisname - just think a little while back you were still trying to crack a 12!! Now with some proper tyres and a decent launch, there is no reason a 11 isn't possible. How things change over a matter of monts, keep it up Matt Chris
  15. Really? bummer Whats the weather like out that way mate, it seems ok in town
  16. awesome times GOTBOOST, keep flying the 32GTst flag mate!! what size Nittos are you running? Chris
  17. Matt, can you let me know how good a job he does, as I need to get mine done too, and also what are his prices like? Clint - need to catch up soon a d have a go at putting in those rear cradle bushes, the ass end on my car is all over the place!!
  18. I had a set of these on the rear, 235/45/17 THE stickiest tyres I have even owned, anything under 4500rpm on normal road once they were warm would stall the car Very hard on driveline, but the best I have ever had in terms of grip- the downside 5000km and they are useless Mine cost me $335ea If they bring out a harder compound I'd get them again, as I have swapped to 16x7.5" rims to save on tyre costs etc
  19. Mine hasn't got a thermostat either, the oil gets up to temp quick enough Mine is mounted behing my intercooler, between my radiator, and it seems to do a good job Quick question, what is optimum temp for synthetic oil?
  20. Do a few searches, I think you will find a PowerFC will be able to accomodate the AFM swap, bigger injectors etc without drama, tried and tested route with one of those Unichip seem to be a bit of a band aid solution for cars that only need a very mild tweak in the factory tuning to achieve a good result, and not to suited for what you are after Or re-map the stock computer if its a R32 Just my opinion Chris
  21. You get into learn mode by holding power and over take boost down for about 6 seconds or so, it will then come up with - P1 - learns the stock boost curve, do as many runs as possible, 2nd, 3rd and even 4th if you have a nice big long non-cop patrolled road Do as many as you can Press the power button, it will then go into P2 mode. Press the power button again when you are ready to go, and it will start. This mode is measures pressure drop between turbo and inlet, one full boost (try to start from around 2500rpm until rev-cut) is alll that is needed, if it is sucessful, it will come up with a digital boost gauge, if it doesn't P2 will still be displayed. Keep doing it until it works Good luck P.S - dAVE, I think I have emailed the manual to you before as well??
  22. Noise is normal It even says it in the manual, so dont't worry about it I have emailed you the instructions as well, make sure its set up properly and it should be fine NOTE - with the learn procedure 'P1', keep doing full boost runs in 3rd and 2nd gears, do as many as possible, as it will make the boost curve more stable, then P2 mode, use 3rd gear I have found this works the best Chris
  23. Been interesting to read everyone's thoughts on this subjects Personally, I believe you get what you pay for - that goes for anything It would be very interesting to see the guy from Signal have a go at tuning some of the cars on the forum. I am sure that there are things to learn from him, but lets not forget, he is only trying to achieve the same thing anyone who tunes a programmable computer - a safe and powerful tune So it will be very interesting to see the results, as they say, results speak louder than words At the end of the day, you have to trust the person put in charge of tuning YOUR car. Like all of us here, everyone has done there research, and we all know (or should know) the good and the not so good tuners out there. I trusted my car with Tilbrooks when Martin was there, he did my tune on my car - it has been running at 200rwkw on a 100,000+km old engine for almost 18 months, not a problem So I reckon it will be great to see what the guy from Signal can do, and hopefully he produces a good result. There is no reason why he won't, as he has had much experience with these type of cars Will be interesting to see the results Chris
  24. Ok, I'm not building a engine as such, just looking to improve a motor I have bought, so the cams will hopefully be going in, but not sure about newer springs. The motor has around 50,000 on it, so the springs should still be in good condition (hopefully) If I can get a set of springs with some cams - it will be a bonus, if not, cams by themselves will do for me
  25. Is there any differance in the valve springs? I am most probably going to do all my mods on another motor I have bought, and then swap the newer motor in, so if there is a advantage in swapping springs I might do that as well The cam differance question I posed is a interesting one, I wouldn't be surprised if each model is slightly differant, due to each model having to meet stricter emmissions laws etc. Or it could be just differant tuning? Who knows, but it would be good to compare each model cam side by side to see if there was any huge differances
