  9. What caused the need to rebuild it? I am about to undertake the next phase of my project, as mine has been making 200rwkw for about 14 months now and I am bored with it, and I am hoping for around 220rwkw reliably out of the stock motor My dillema is that is the motor dies is to either - 1) Rebuild my motor with forged pistons and INCREASE the CR to 9.0-1 2)Replace my motor with a low km one form the wreckers 3)Bin the RB20 and replace with RB25 So just interested in why it needed to be rebuilt Regards, Chris
  10. Any of you guys running coilovers? Just thought I'd mention I have recently swapped to a set of coilovers which have been corner weighted and adjusted on the previous car (R32GTSt) I used to have a problem of spinning one wheel contantly, but after installing the coilovers, the rear seems to be alot better, more even weight on each wheel i guess It still has its moments though, so I am about to install one of those aluminim cradle bush kits to try and help it put more power through BOTH wheels!! The diff will be the last thing I look at, as i dont want to transform it into a pig around town and through the hills, as most of my driving is done in either one of those
  11. Great day, big thumbs up to Shaun at Boostworx for running the day, and to everyone who organized it Good Stuff Chris
  12. Do you have a dyno print out or anything to confirm this (no dodgy excel spreadsheets please ) Just curious to see thats all, becasue my R32 has 200rwkw (268 rwhp) and run consitantly at around 104mph when i had a go at the drags, and as whatisname pointed out, even if you run really crap 60ft times (mine were 2.4-2.5 seconds) you will still run a good top speed - if you have the power I would suspect that a 3L Magna, even though they weigh a little more, with its increased displacemnt and probably a heap for torque than a my 2L 8.5-1 comp RB20, can only manange 90odd mph for its top speed?? Just curious, not having a go or anything I did see your car at the event though, sounded pretty crazy, just lacked the pace to go along with the sound
  13. know a dude who got done for 211 or 221 on the weekend, cant remeber in his 'line on a rural road a few hours from town. Was caught by one of those new camera's with the cop coming towards him funny, all he said was - 'yeah, bugger hey, but it was me who decided to do it, so i will have to cop the consequence' He knows its a lost cause arguing about it, and he IS going to loose his licesnce for quite a while Just unlucky I guess, but everyone gets done for speeding sooner or later
  14. Joel - clutch will be fine Both myself and Freebaggin have had the same clutch for over 12 months with no probs. I have the cushioned ceramic multi button clutch with the heavy pressure plate (1090kg from memory) Mine has done 30,000+km at 200rwkw, seen off 4 sets of tyres (one set was a set of RE55S semislicks), 15 1/4 mile passes, a Mallala track day, 30+ dyno runs and driven to and from work - 45km per day in traffic, and its still feels really good. RB20 gearbox is starting to get a little crunchy now though! Freebaggins has endured similar punishment, but he has had his a little longet than me I guess its like anything though, people have good runs and bad runs with certain products, just down to the individual and there driving style Mine as well as Freebaggins is being used in conjunction with a lightweight cromoly flywheel, not sure if this helps or not, but if anything the cromoly would be harder on the clutch material than the original cast iron flywheel Chris
  15. I'll be there mate, nothing wrong with the old RB20's No doubting how effective the RB25/30 swap is though, considering it cost similar dollars to build a fresh RB20 or RB25/30, you'd be crazy not to think about doing the swap if your motor died! Will be good to see some big power cars though, cant wait
  16. something wrong with that link mate, it doesnt work Can you get live audio and/or video from that site? Chris
  17. obviously cant have a TV a work on thursday/friday so does anyone know of any live audio/video of the GP that will be available of the net to keep me happy at work?? Chris
  18. Matt funnily enough I had the same thing on my 32, used a Meguiars polish, cant remember the exact name but it was called Paint Cleaner or something like that, used it on my car to get rid of old polish etc. Worked a treat, did it about 3 or 4 times, looks better than new - will try and get the name of the stuff
  19. Awesome stuff, some big power RB25's going to be at the SAU SA dyno day!!! With yours, Grepins, Whatsisnames and Freegaggins - thats over 1000kw worth to see!!! Cant wait
  20. Cool. I am going to do some asking around tomorrow, and see what prices they are over here. See how it goes Regards, Chris
  21. Got some, thanks everyone for the replies/PMs Chris
  22. have you had them on the track? what about 1/4 mile Whats steering response like, are they really responsive or do you need to constanlty adjust how much you need to turn them? How much is left on them after 10,000km? Sorry for all the questions, but I dont know anyone else who has them, and I would like to try a set - just want to be sure thats all!
  23. do they flex around and squirm around coners? Or do you feel alot of bumps with them? I want a 225/50/16 that has nice stiff sidewalls for good handelling Whats the grip like now they have a bit of wear on them?
  24. benm - how stiff are the sidewalls? They sound like a really good tyre
  25. thought this thread was about a dyno day................
