  1. Hello to all that read this, Im just wondering what are the differences between the RB25DE and the RB25DET, And dont say one has a turbo or puts out more power, I want to know the nitty gritty, cams, pistons, crank, rods, head etc I know compression ratio is high in the NA, but how is this achieved?
  2. Just wondering, Does the non turbo R34 neo enginge come with GTR rods as well, or just the turbo spec? also, saying GTR rods means SFA to me, whats better about the GTR rods?
  3. hmm, if you read my post thourghly, i said "plus you would be looking at gaskets, oil, filters etc, the usual stuff assoicated with a rebuild, but you would have those either way." so either way if you dont replace the rods and pistons or you do, your still going to need those parts. and if a mech says they gaskets are ok, just use the old ones, he should be slapped around. When ever you pull engine componets apart that havnt been apart for a long time, replace the gaskets. I ony said to do the forged pistons and rods as he said he is limited on the cash and imo replacing these parts while its down to the block would be the best long term improvment and a good building ground for future upgrades. I never said the skyline egine will handle 10000rpm with just the forged intenals, I said the forged pistons are rated to running up to 10000rpm (just in not so many words), didnt say you should do it.
  4. I dont see why people make stupid comments and then dont give any explanation on why they make half assed remarks. What would you suggest then? "and as for 10000rpm being a little over the rev limit HAHAHAHAH are u insane." in english please. think before you type.
  5. If you are limited, then I would definatley say the forged conrods and pistons, you are going to have the engine out and in pieces, its the best time to do it. Plus it is a really good base mod which you can build up from. a port and polish is simpily removing the head, pretty easy to do. Having the engine out and in pieces doesnt happen very often, I wouldnt pass up the opportunity. apart from replacing the rings (which if you upgraded to forged pistons, they usually come with the rings you need) What other engine repairs are required? And when you say $3000 for repairs, is that just a estimate or is that a quote from someone?
  6. Well its really up to you. How much do you want out of your engine? Having the engine down to the block is a really good oportunity to do some internals. You could do a stroker kit, but they start around $6000 just for the kit and without doing any more work than that, it will feel more sluggish after its done than before. My suggestion is that you replace the stock conrods and pistons with forged ones, you could nearly garantee your engine would last a life time with forged internals. This guy on ebay selling spool rods and CP pistons + rings, both good brands, for $1890. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SPOOL-Nissan-SKYLIN...1QQcmdZViewItem I would proberly get the 20thou over sized and get your block cleaned out, make it a nice smooth cylinder. Thats all you really need to do for the bottom end, run high revs and the engine will ask for more. forged internals are good for around 10000rpm. a little over the skylines redline. plus you can more safley increase the boost. With the bottom done, you will want to look at the head, a good port and polish will proberly set you back around 800-900 on average. a quick search on ebay turned up this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...bayphotohosting and if you could get it for 1000, thats a good buy. Sell your old head, might get $300 for a good quality one or so. by the time you add in the labor in removing, cleaning, adjusting on your current head, it would come back to more than 1000, plus you would be looking at gaskets, oil, filters etc, the usual stuff assoicated with a rebuild, but you would have those either way. Forged internals and a port and polish is a really good start to any performance increase. you will get a slight gain from the internals, but not very much, the port and polish will give you a decent power gain. but your biggest gain will be from you able to increase the boost pressure much higher than on stock internals. Might be a little more than what you want to spend, but it would be well worth it in the end. PM me if you got any questions.
  7. Apexi make a really decent panel filter, my first choice when changing the panel filter. Custom built air boxes are ok, but not worth the bang for buck. there is a DIY for a home made cold air intake into the origonal airbox which would be just as effective and a hell of a lot cheaper. Also, are you thinking off the shelf system or custom built? Take a look at Coby extractors, bout $300 + another $100 for the gasket, an alright quality high flow cat for around 200ish, off the shelf system, good not but minimal noise I would say a Kakimoto system $900 from just jap, + fitting, you would looking close to around $1600 for a full exhaust system. Custom built from the cat back, proberly $500 with a resonator and cannon or a high flow muffler and a tip.
  8. Definatley check out www.svi.com.au Im getting my R34 through them and am saving at least $3000 than going to an import car yard for something less.
  9. These guys are really good http://www.svi.com.au/home They are in Brisbane, but will ship the car anywhere once its ready. Plus they do everything for you, all you have to do is front the money. Im getting a R34 GT-V through them at the moment. and right now its floating accross the pacific having a nice little ocean cruise. Give them a call or send them an email, even from bisbane transport might be a lot better than you would expect, especially for a backload run. Ive saved myself at least $3000 than going to an import yard.
  10. I agree with the whole reduce energy consumption. especialy business in the citys, you walk around and office lights on everywhere. and wtf for?! so the cocoroach on johns left over sandwich sitting in the lunch room can see wtf its eating. To really reduce energy, the goverment should make it mandatory for business in high rises to set automatic lights so they turn off when no one is there, now that would save energy. That 10% saved last year is well and good, but it means shit all in the whole scheme of things. 1 hour out of 24 in a day, 168 hours in a week, 61320 hours in a year, now thats just a drop in the ocean. And this whole global wamring bullshit, show me some proof. and not just some ice berg melting or the hottest day in 100 years. that shit doesnt mean anything, considering the earth is estimated to be about 4.5 Billion years old. This isnt the first heat wave to hit the earth and it definatley wont be the last, same as the ice ages, there have been at least 4 major ice ages recorded in the last 400,000 years, thats only 1% of the earths age, so by the graph below, you could guesstimate that has been an ice age every 100,000 years, The reason its getting hotter, is becasue we are at the end of the last ice age, and we still havnt reached the highest tempreture compared to 1000's of years ago. And if you know anything about graphs, you can see the CO2 levels dont increase before the temperature rises but after. Hmmm, so that means the levels of CO2 are a side effect of rising tempretures, not a cause!!! Do some more research before jumpng on the global warming band wagon and shoting Doom to the masses. 11. Hey, New to the forums and new to skylines, Just brought my self a R34 GT-V and have been looking for somewhere I can let loose legally. I know what some of you are thinking, WTF u doing wanting to race a NA skyline for? well you have to start somewhere. and I have big plans for having one of the most powerful NA skylines around. Anyway, I live on the coast so Im not too far away from lakeside. what are the requirements to be able to take your car out on the track? Thanks
