Thanks Simon, yours was the best answer that I was looking for, and you too Scott, so now I gotta weigh up the pros and cons of both setups... Just thinking about drilling thru the rear housing of the turbo o plumb the wastegate in...kinda yucky..metal filings goin in through the housing and onto the wheels/bearings causing failure down the track....just thoughts
-
the problem I see is welding a circular v-band ring onto my bellmouth shaped dump (after cutting off its flange), might become obsolete as you say... and the HG ss turbos are around $1550 with GST incl not 1400 - so still expensive, being a 'bang for buck' item..
-
Scott, many thanks for the useful info, and no, 250rwkw is not my goal, I want a snappy 280-300rwkw and that is why I have narrowed down the turbo to the SS1PU, and now reading all this Kando stuff has brought it a new competitor albeit in different ways to it being an external gate setup.. As I'm fairly new to external gated setups and learning heaps currently, I am tossing between the two and there seem to be quite a few on here who are saying good things about the Kando's fast spool and snapppy response.. If I can get the TD06SL-20G kit in 10cm housing for say, $700-750, a Tial 40mm gate for 320ish (or a cheaper just-as-good gate, options??) and $100-200 to weld the gate onto my dump, modify dump by cutting off bellmouth flange and welding V-band ring on (possible? issues?), then it sort of adds up to the cost of a HG SS1PU with actuator which is 1400ish....that is assuming I can get the fabrication done cheap, I know its a bit of work but not much.. Just one thing, are most of yous welding the external gates to the turbo rear housing or onto the dump itself??
-
I'm not familiar with external gate setups and V-band turbos, just doing a fair bit of research on them, the kando my be cheap at 700-800 bux, but then the 44mm tial wastegates (whats a good cheap wastegate option?) r damn expensive and then you have to weld up the freakin thing to the turbo rear housing (is a screamer required or just optional?) And I do not understand why the rear of the external gate V-band turbos have a circular outlet where it bolts to the bell-mouth dump..Hence I will need a V-band adaptor or something to mate it to my JJR dump/front, correct???? Do I have to have a pipe from the external gate to the dump as well?? Sorry for these questions, I have only been concentrating on internal gate setups. All this work looks like it will add up to around the cost of a Hypergear kit or more...so I'm un-decided... But then you get much better performance from external gate setups hey..

Tell the cop ur just bedding in r brakes and to f**k off lol.. -
GTScoT you just broke my heart...

Jez, ur drifter has the RB25 right? U running an external tial 44mm gate i guess

SimonR32 proposed a TD06SL-20G v band internal gate T3 flange turbo kit for $785 on ebay but i heard from some members the 8cm housing is too small

Hey hey im getting attacked by the kando virus today and now seriously considering a kando low mount(stock manifold) 280-300rwkw STREET turbo for my neo over the Hypergear, needs to be internal gate too so no stuffing around welding an external gate, basically looking for a 3076R/ SS1PU equivalent..if anyone can point me to the correct specced kando unit and dyno graph (so many numbers n specs), i will buy him a packet of chips..:winks
-
Is it on a RB25DET?
-
Did a big search but no luck..
-
Thanks for the link SimonR32, thats so cheap for a kit that includes everything(dosent say wastegate included), thats half the price of a Hypergear ss series turbo which includes less. But that v band adaptor wont go on my jjr dump which has the stock bellmouth shape. Can someone also point me to a dyno chart with this turbo on a RB25?? Just wana compare the response, area under curve n power with a 3076R and hypergear
-
As far as i know most pple r doing the 6boost manifold n external gate but thats not what i want. Im keeping stock manifold, internally gated and low mount.
-
Sorry i havent read the whole thread, just bits n pieces but cannot find the info i am looking for. I need to know if these Kandos come with a T3 flange AND internal gate with actuator, basically a hypergear/3076R equivalent which is what im lookin for as they r quite cheap compared to the Hypergear..I understand they will basically require the same amount of stuffing around as with bolting a Hypergear, correct?? Custom intake, oil/ water lines- or will the stock ones do?? I have a new JJR bellmouth dump/ front, dunno if theres an adaptor to make that fit on the Kando.

Try Mamre Road, Elizabeth Drive and yes, Northern Road along the Badgerys Creek and Kemps Creek areas after 8pm - nice empty country roads and no mofos with red and blue flashing lights around... I get my flat mate to run my car there sometimes as I'm still under suspension.. -

Got my YJ coils delivered at work today, geez it was only Sunday when I paid Paul from Performance Wise, he is such a top bloke to deal with! Cant wait to put them on, will post back with results, hopefully it will solve my miss-fire and farting. -
I think you hit the nail on the head with this statement. I remember u had a lean popping issue when u changed ur intake earlier, and maybe this was the reason above. Where'd u get those two little breather pipes with the rolled edges thats welded onto ur intake?
-
Hey Sarge hows ur new intake pipe and lean popping issue? I just ordered me a set of YJ coilpacks, did u have issues with yours?
-
I had same prob, look for threads on how to rewire pump for direct 12v feed.

Btw i am at 93000kms so about time too, dont think i have CAS issues as my dyno graph is typical smooth exponential not jagged as with a dud CAS.. -

Nah thanks Josh, Im selling my OEMs now lol, just ordered the YJs as they have a 2yr warranty and Oz based as opposed to splits bein Jap based and only 6 month warranty plus lot more expensive.. All products have hit n miss bad items btw and both the YJs and Splitfires have numerous happy customers and few dud items too..food for thought. -
