***rb20det Engine Rebuild Question***
cruising_r32 replied to cruising_r32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cheers for the info. When you say studs, do you mean the head bolts- like the ones ARP make? I've got the exhaust manifold bolts already bought. Once it is all put back together including the new front mount inter cooler I will be happy enough with the power for now. It is my budget that is stopping me from going any further at the moment as I have a second R32 I am trying to get track ready. BUT in the near future I hope to go for more power, nothing stupid, just another hundred or so horses. So, if I am planning on pushing more power in the next year or so- What work should I be thinking about? Sorry for the vague questions but I know you guys have pushed your RB20's way further than most people up on this side of the planet so I'm curious to see what way you think I should proceed. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Alan. -
***rb20det Engine Rebuild Question***
cruising_r32 replied to cruising_r32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Turbo is standard and running at 0.8 bar. I am really only at stage one tuning for the moment and probably running about 230bhp and 210 torque. I know the motor can stay in for the head gasket replacement but the mechanic I am going to use reckons it would cost the same in labour charges for him to leave it in and work on or take it out and work on. If he takes it out it will make life a lot easier for him. While it is out he is planning on sending it off for a clean and hone, then some new shells, bearings etc. ??? I've never been into that part of the engine myself so its kinda over my head. -
Hi guys, I've got a R32 GTST with an RB20DET in it. The head gasket appears to be on its way out so I am looking at a rebuild seen as I have to dig down that far into the engine. I have the following parts bought for this round of work- Conceptua head gasket kit- inlet, manifold, rocker covers, head gaskets Conceptua head to manifold gasket Conceptua manifold to turbo gasket Conceptua turbo to turbo elbow gasket Conceptua decat gaskets Conceptua manifold studs Conceptua Fuel filter Conceptua Oil filter Exedy organic clutch A new oil pump Japspeed Oil cooler and filter relocation kit HKS oil temp gauge HKS coolant temp gauge Do-luck steel braided brake lines I'll be ordering a fmic from japspeed tomorrow. I've been talking to a mechanic already about carrying out this work and he has said he will arrange for new shells, bearings etc in the bottom and a clean and hone from a local engineering shop. I'm looking for peoples thoughts on this rebuild please- What other parts should I buy? What other work should I have done while the engine is out? What parts should I upgrade now instead of later on? You get the picture- if you have been there already or have useful knowledge I'd really appreciate you sharing it. ps. The car has the following work down so far- Japspeed alloy radiator Japspeed engine torque damper Japspeed rear strut brace Japspeed turbo elbow Japspeed down pipe Japspeed decat Tannabe cat back system Conceptua BYCAS system K&N air filter 255lph fuel pump Apexi RSM (wired in) Apexi AVCR (wired in but not set up) Apexi SAFC (just sitting there) R33 GTR Brembo calipers and discs

Amazing photos! The first one looks like a post card. I'm looking forward to seeing some car photos from you.

Nice, the bonnet on the White four door R32 looks sweet but would probably look nicer if it was sprayed white as well. Any idea what make it is?
-
Thanks for the information, I'm going to try see if I can get them up this way for sensible money. The white with red lip looks amazing! I've been told my wheels retailed for big money when they where first released and still fetch a good price now because they are so hard to find. I just had mine refurbished and put back to a normal silver as I've got myself another set of standard wheels to do Fluorescent green

Skylineowners.com And Mkivsupra.net Meet In Galway, Ireland
cruising_r32 replied to cruising_r32's topic in Photography
What part of Ireland did you stay in? If you had of done some home work (found an Irish forum) we could have arranged a little get together for you. Its the one thing i hate about being away from home- no car (gay rentals don't count). Insurance is a pain in the ass here, not only do we get charged stupid amounts of money but it is getting harder to get lately. example: Im 32, have a full license 12 years, no points or convictions, 7 years no claims bonus and I've passed the advanced motorist exams but when I tried for insurance last year I got refused by 17 insurance companies because of the "type" of car I drive- a R32 GTST -
Here are a few of my R32 GTST

Hi guys, I'm not sure if this is the right section but I thought I would post up some photos I took at a recent get together. Skylineowners.com and mkivsupra.net arranged a little drive for the end of March 2009. As usual with any event about half didn't turn up on the day but that still left about 50 Skylines and 10 Supra's to make the drive to Galway, Ireland where we stayed over and had some fun in town. I hope you like the photos, I'll try add some more later on when I upload them. Alan.

Damn that's a bit harsh. The dark Audi photo is a little too dark for my liking but I can see where you are going with it. Do you have any other photos of the first car? From the rear light it looks to me to be a new model Toyota Celica but I've never seen that wide arch kit before.....

Can someone tell me the full name of these white rims please? They are sexy as hell
-
Thats just teasing us, show the rest of the car!

Welome along to a fellow R32 GTST owner

The one mean looking saloon

told you, last year there was no one else here in Ireland that i know of running funky coloured rims but this year there are lots..... I've started something......
-
nope, thats the real colour of them. Bayside blue was one option I considered but it thought blue might look a bit gay..... I'm thinking about getting another set of 16" for playing on and doing the bright orange.....
-
Hi, if your in the uk I hope your a member of skylineowners.com
-
I'm only new here too but hello and welcome along, it seems like a cool forum!
-
Thanks Anna, I hate the colour green usually and would never pick it for anything but I just wanted something different. I've got standard wheels for playing on or driving when I don't want the car to be noticed (that much) and am looking at a few other sets at the moment to give me a change. O almost forgot to say, welcome along to you too. Where are you from?

They needed a refurb as the paint was starting to chip away around the center caps. So I was thinking white would be cool but a bitch to keep clean, didn't want black as I don't think it suits my car so was left with gold or bronze which has been done to death over here. Ever other import has gold wheels with a polished lip so I just figured f**k it, I'll do something totally different. And it doesn't get more different than flurescent green! Its catching on too, last year there was only one or two cars here with coloured wheels but last week when I was at a track day there was loads of cars runnig coloured rims

I'm just after buying a Nikon D80, I talked to everyone I know about camera's and after lots of thought and research came to the conclusion that there is feck all difference between Nikon and Canon camera's..... it just comes down to which one you prefer holding. I got mine from ebay, normally I wouldn't buy anything expensive from there but a friend had used the shop and found them reliable and cheap. The shop is called "digital rev" and I have to say- where very helpful and efficent. I bought a Nikon D80, 135mm lens, 300mm lens, battery grip +extra batteries, SB800 flash gun and a few other bits. After paying for the items, the shipping from japan to Ireland, getting caught for 90euro VAT....... it still cost me about 700euro less than it would have here in the shops.

You can download infraview free from the net and it is really easy to use, great from resizing or tagging photos. I'm starting to use the "batch" feature in photoshop, its a great help when you can get it to work properly.

Very nice pictures, number 16 is sweet- just the right amount of blur to capture the moment with out losing detail in the car. What camera are you using? I was using a Fugi S5600 but have just bought a Nikon D80
