[Melbourne] Cheapest R34 Gtr In Australia!

Mate, not arrogant, just telling it like it is. Seriously, who is going to sell their car and not put it on carsales these days? The people who advertise in the hardcopy trading post? And let me know where I can get this 22k R34 GTR. Sounds interesting.. How much work does it need? I'm assuming it's still a car with an engine and not a stripped out shell? -

[Melbourne] Cheapest R34 Gtr In Australia!
Phatboy replied to Phatboy's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Mine's the cheapest advertised price on carsales, so sorry can't go any lower. Check it out. I dunno where this 34k one is, but the owner's probably not serious about selling if he didn't put it on there. -
Hi guys, there has been a massive $6k price drop from $43,990 to $37,990 for my 2001 Silver R34 GTR (non v-spec). This makes it the cheapest R34 GTR in oz as of writing this. Please note due to this, the price is non-negotiable and I am not looking to trade. Selling because my partner and I want to start a family so I need to get a family car. 77,000 genuine kms. It's also on carsales (put car id in keyword field 2258232 or http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Nissan-Skyline-2001/SSE-AD-2258232/?Cr=0&sdmvc=1). PM or call me if interested 0490 147 356 (Michael). 321 kw at wheels (approx 400 at flywheel), tuned by Racepace Motorsports. Passed compression test there with flying colours. Very smooth power delivery on the power curve. See attached dyno. Rare 2001 Series II model with nicer black interior. Non-smoker owner. Well-looked after, always garaged. Comes with an English translation of original manual. I have never parked it outside overnight. Insured with Shannons. Only BP Ultimate and fully synthetic oils (Motul 300V/Castrol Edge) used. Driven rarely, only on weekends. Has never been in a major accident nor been to the track/in competitions, etc. There is no insurance for those events and I couldn't afford to repair/replace it. I bought this from a motor dealer (his private car) in 2008 for a lot more than I am selling, when it had done 49,000 kms. I have serviced it regularly, (usually 6 monthly) with stamps, odometer readings, invoices from Chasers. All recommended maintenance work carried out with no expense spared. Mechanically A1. Mods are virtually undetectable from stock-looking engine bay: Upgraded Garrett turbo 2860-5 x 2 (can support up to 400 kw at wheels if you decide to upgrade engine internals in the future) Apexi pod air filter HKS Cam Pulley/Gears HKS Fine Tune Timing Belt NGK Iridium Spark Plugs Splitfire coilpacks Upgraded PWR 700 cc fuel injectors x 6 Nismo Super Coppermix Twin Plate Clutch Apexi PowerFC with hand controller tuned by Racepace Motorsport HKS split/dump/extension pipes HKS Hi-Power cat-back exhaust Remsa brake pads New Ultima Red-Top 800 CCA battery Xenon HID headlights Black Widow car alarm & immobiliser Apexi turbo timer Aftermarket sound system: JVC KD-AVX2 head unit with 3.5" widescreen colour monitor/mp3/CD/DVD player and remote, MTX Thunder 3404 108Wx4 amp with test certificate, JBL 12" 1000W CS1204 subwoofer in custom-made enclosure in boot. It is directly connected to the chassis with high tensile strength 10mm removable bolts (no drilling), and is rock solid, so won't budge at all even under the most spirited driving conditions eg., if you wanted to take it to the track you wouldn't need to remove it first, although it is easily removable if you wish, and the spare tyre is still under it. Almost new 265/35/R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 2s/Super sports on original GTR rims. Factory optioned (street legal) privacy glass rear window and rear 3/4 windows with street legal tinted front windows (Tint-a-car) I have removed rear wing recently to improve rear view vision, but can re-install if you want. Rear wing comes included with car. The car is in good mechanical and cosmetic condition as you can see also from the unedited carsales photos. There are a few minor paintwork bumps and scratches on the front and rear bumper from shopping centres/public carparks that aren't obvious enough to show up on the photos, but nothing unexpected and average for a 12 year old car that has been garaged. Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page, so you weren't expecting a mint car for this price. I still have all the OEM factory turbos, ECU, air intake, injectors, dump pipes, etc and they can be added for a negotiable price if desired. Otherwise I'll sell them separately for parts. This car easily passed a RWC in Jan 2013, when I got one to see if I had to change anything to prepare it for sale (I didn't). It also does not attract unwanted attention as it looks stock.

Passed a bayside blue R34 GTR going the other direction as I was heading down the road to the Spirit in Devonport in my silver one couple weeks back.

The wing comes with the car and can be easily screwed back if required.

Thanks. Came off slowly but nicely. Excellent advice!

Cool, got my defect cleared. Took the Vicroads chick all of 5 seconds. No one came out to inspect the vehicle, but they wouldn't remove the defect notice. She said I had to do it myself. It's glued on pretty well, can't seem to get it off without tearing it. What's the best way to remove it? I've searched SAU but no love. Googled and random things like hairdryer, solvents, nail polish remover, eucalyptus oil, razor blades, paint scrapers all came up. What's the SAFEST option for not scratching the crap out of the windscreen? I don't mind a bit more work. Thanks guys.

Ok cool thanks guys.

Thanks guys, super sports fitted. v. happy with it over last couple of weeks, but will take a bit longer to bed them in i think. tire-rack as usual were awesome - delivered to doorstep 3 business days after wire transfer cleared.

That is very lucky. By the way, what is the deal with major defect notice in terms of driving it. There are two dates given: - 7 days post defect, "this vehicle must not be used on or after... etc" - 1 month post defect, after which the vehicle's registration may be suspended by Vicroads if not cleared by then. How about the time between the two dates? Can you still drive the car to the mechanic to rectify defects, get RWC, or to Vicroads to clear it? I called Vicroads and the girl seemed to think that was the case (they only seemed to care about the later date), but I have heard from other people that you need to get some $40 permit during this time??? She didn't know anything about it. The vicroads talks about an unregistered permit, but that doesn't seem to be what is needed - because the car's registration is still valid for 1 month post defect. The 7 days just seems to be an arbitrary time period the cops give, but do they enforce not driving between the 7-28 day time period, even if you're just going to mechanic/Vicroads? Any one know for sure?? Thanks.

What Does A Stock R34 Gtr Intercooler Look Like?
Phatboy replied to Phatboy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
cool thanks guys! hope the guy who does my RWC knows this. what reference can I give that has the OEM intercooler size written down? tried looking in my translated manual and googling but no luck. thanks. -
Could you please explain how putting the stock globes let you pass? Or is it that some non-R 34s have halogen standard lights? I've heard you can't just slot the halogens into the HID lights as they won't work??
-
It was a major because it was these two things, plus my rear licence plate globe needed replacing. Friggen BS, as I've since found out that my intercooler is stock - he just didn't know what he was talking about. So the only thing he got me for was the headlights (which are actually standard) and a licence plate light globe. I have deliberately kept my ride looking stock as a rock from outside, with no suspension, wheel or bodywork mods, as does the engine bay. So I'm pretty p'd off this happened I wasn't driving in Knox. Was driving back along the beach in Williamstown - was a highway patrol car from the local police station.

What Does A Stock R34 Gtr Intercooler Look Like?
Phatboy replied to Phatboy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's what I thought! -
Hi guys, tried search and asking in the Vic forum to no avail. I understand that the standard, factory Phillips D2R Xenon HID globes for the R34 GTR are defectable, and people have had to change them on every one in this country to halogens for compliance during the import process. In most cases the HIDs go back in after this process. Just wondering which halogen globes to get and what the best way to change them is? I understand you can't directly replace the globes. You need to bypass the ballast??? Is it something that you need an auto electrician to do? Thanks!

Hi guys, I really need to know whether my FMIC is standard or not (and if standard, whether it is in the standard location, instead of having been relocated). I thought I'd try one of the general forums because no one has replied on a Victorian forum (maybe because all the GTRs have aftermarket FMICs here lol). I'm pretty sure it is stock, but someone (the cop who defected me for it) disagrees. There are no aftermarket logos, etc on it and all the cooler pipes appear stock. The car came with it when I bought it and the previous owner thought it was stock too. On google the pics are all of the FMIC already removed, and some of them appear to be black and some shiny metal-coloured. It kind of looks like a stock one. Please take a look. I would really appreciate it. If it is standard, how do I go about proving it is to Vicroads? Is there a Nissan OEM parts list? I couldn't find any model numbers on the FMIC. Thank you!

Ok found some info from Adz from a post 2 years ago (not sure why I can't quote it) on HIDs: "This has been done to death but for the record... R34's are required by law and SEVS compliance to have the HID globe and ballast removed from the car during compliance. They are to be fitted with standard Halogen globes. Modern cards with HID's like my Audi have a number of added features that the R34's do not including auto levelling lights and washers. This avoid the dazzle effect over peaks and during rain. I'm not saying this helps, it's just a bullshit ADR and must be complied with. Personally I used to drive an R34 which was imported personally during the switch from RAWS compliance to SEVS. Seeing the car sat in my garage uncomplied while Crossover gained certification I had the chance to pull the Xenon headlight assemblies out and put in R34 4 door Halogen assemblies. I put them back in after compliance seeing the ballast for the HID's plugs into the same loom as the Halogens (from memory). So there are cars around like mine that still have them and probably lots of cars from the early RAWS days. I also got pulled over in Knox for my lights and other things. Pettet told me I was pulled over because my "lights looked too blue" even with stock globes. I never pulled them out and I also went to McCloud for EPA and Vicroads. Both places did not even look at them, know or care. Lights are not an EPA concern, they are however a roadworthy item. I got a road worthy no problems with my lights in. So, at the end of the day they are 100% illegal under Australian law and SEVS compliance, whether anyone but the cops care is anyone's guess but in my experience. No." So what is the best way to change the xenon hid globes to halogen ones? Apparently you can't just replace them right?

Hi guys, really need some advice please. I tried searching but wasn't particularly enlightening. My 2001 S2 R34 GTR just got defected for the first time (major), with mods done by the previous owner: - Headlamps: to be returned back to standard. I am pretty sure they are the standard Xenon HID Phillips D2R bulbs, but the cop didn't agree with me, saying HIDs didn't exist in 2001 so couldn't be stock??? Are the standard HIDs defectable? What's the quickest way to get my globes back to "standard" or "compliant" to pass RWC? - One intake mod allowed: intercooler/ air filter non standard. I have apexi pod filters, and what I thought was the standard FMIC in the standard position. Please see photo. It has no aftermarket logos on it, etc. The cop said it was aftermarket, or had been relocated more forward, which was odd, as I have no idea why they would do that. In any case, I might have to change the pod filters back to the standard airbox and just leave the intercooler be. Does that mean I have to retune powerfc? Will I notice much difference in driving? Can anyone recommend a quick and cheap place for RWC in city or Western suburbs? One place I called wanted $200 for the RWC inspection only!!! Thanks heap!
-
Thanks for your advice guys. Think I'll go with the Super Sports because every review I've read puts them at #1. I'm not keen on burning rears or drifting - I like the safe, planted traction feeling of AWD. Makes up for any deficiencies in my driving ability
-
Unfortunately rang Costco in Melb, who rang their Australian Michelin rep, who says that tyre in that size isn't manufactured anymore (read: manufactured in inadequate quantities to be mass imported to an insignficant market like Australia). Their pricing was pretty good at $515 per tyre incl fitting, just slightly more expensive than the total cost from tirerack. I have similar numbers and don't visit the track, so that's great to hear!

Hi guys, it's time to replace my two front Michelin Pilot PS2's on the R34 GTR. I've been quite happy with the PS2s, but the fronts only lasted 10,000 kms with bad outside wear, whilst the rears are fine. Alignment was too toe-in, which was probably the cause, so got that adjusted. I read that the PS2 replacement, the Super Sports, are better in every way. eg., cheaper, grippier in all conditions, more durable, etc. They are now the #1 ranked tyre on tirerack.com and are OEM on cars like the Ferrari 599 GTO. On paper they look like a no-brainer and from tirerack they are about $820 AUD delivered for 2 x 265/35/18s. Also being under $1000, if I order 2 tyres they are below the threshold for 10% import duty. As usual, local tyre shops are hopeless: either have them on extended back order so can't get them for at least 8 weeks and can't even give me a rough price (The Tyre Factory, few independents), haven't even heard of them and don't have them on their system (Bob Jane), or don't even stock Michelin (Beaurepaires). One shop mentioned Kumho KU19 ($280/each) as very similar to PS2s. I must admit I've never heard of them. Anyone used either the Michelins Super Sport yet or the Kumhos? Any thoughts or recommendations on alternatives? I don't track my car - I just want something grippy in all conditions for the street, with decent durability. Thanks.
