  1. Hi, I've been having probs with my R34 GTR's MFD not diplaying boost. Finally found it it's a busted MAP sensor. I have stock AFMs, but a PowerFC+ HC+ optional boost control unit. I really don't know enough about these things, but my impression was that I would only need to replace a faulty MAP sensor if I was running a D-jetro, so wouldn't need to in my case. Will this affect driving in any case? Oh, and how much does a MAP sensor usually cost? Thanks

  3. Just a few q's please, as I've never gone, but am interested: How much are these usually? Do people know also of any insurance company which can reduce your premium once you do one of these? Does someone sit in the passenger side and give you tips as you go along or is it just go out after a lecture and discover the limits of your car at your own leisure kind of thing? Thanks.

  6. Saw a silver Merc S-series with two suits inside on Albert St, East Melbourne around 6 pm yesterday, with number plates [3]. Lucky bastard.

  8. Hi, yes they are stock AFMs. Was planning to get Nismo ones, but they are still on order. They are definitely -5s The spark plugs should be good... just changed them about 6000 kms ago with the iridium NGK ones and properly gapped. Hmmmm don't think there was black smoke. Kind of odd that it only happens occasionally and most times never have a problem - very stable idle, and the problem is also completely gone if I restart the engine. Might have to get my mechanic to look at it. sometime in the future. Damn maintaining a turbo import is expensive
  9. Hi guys, just wondering if I could get some advice on my R34 GTR. It's a 2001 RB26DETT with only 60k on it (weekend car), and is well maintained (eg., serviced every 6 months with Motul 300V). Mods - Garrett 2860-5 turbos (only went in a year ago) - PWR 700cc injectors (only went in a year ago) - Apexi PowerFC with EBC addon - HKS adj cam gears - HKS split and dump pipes - HKS hi-power catback exhaust - Apexi pod filters - STOCK AFMS It has stalled twice in the last 2 weeks. It happened when I started the car from a relatively warm start, and with the car stationary and clutch fully depressed the engine was really struggling to maintain idle revs, with the needle bouncing between 300-1200 rpm and the dash illumination going dimmer and brighter. It would then stall. When I restart the car, there's no problems. No problems at all with driving either. Anyone have any idea what's going on? The only other thing that's wrong is that the boost gauge on the MFD is "stuck" around -0.01 boost. Thanks very much.

  11. At highpoint this arvo: White R33 GTR with twin blue racing stripes down the length of the car. Dark blue R34 GT White R33 GTS-T a few others I can't remember Apparently there was also a huge 200-person gang fight in one of the highpoint car parks today where someone was stabbed and had to go to Royal Melbourne Hospital, but I didn't see it.

  15. Yesterday saw no less than *FOUR* SAU-VIC Stickers: 1. Gunmetal grey R33 GTS-T westbound on North Rd, Brighton East around 10 am. Had some kind of bodykit... Veilside??? not sure. I suck at identifying R33 bodykits. 2. Yellow R32 GTS-T? somewhere in CBD in the morning, then again on King St around 6 pm. 3. White R33 GTS-T eastbound on Clarendon St, Southbank around 6:20 pm. All had standard plates. Was in the daily so didn't bother waving or fumbling for my SAU card like a madman
  16. Hi all, on the MFD in my non-vspec 34 GTR the boost gauge is kinda "stuck" around 0.00, and doesn't move no matter what I do. Sometimes restarting the engine makes it go down to baseline (-0.60). Any ideas? Thanks.
  17. What do you need to overtake? Drag cars? I have 300 awkw and that's plenty for a daily - wouldn't really want anymore. Response is so much more important in daily city/suburban driving than is top-end power.
  18. Awesome. Another reason to go there then. Love the set up, and being able to keep a loving eye on the 34 while I eat. Hate the feeling of spending 3 hours at a restaurant with friends while it's parked in some dark alleyway somewhere.

  21. Know it ain't a supercar, but I rarely see these around. Absolutely dwarfed everything else on the road, even made a Landcruiser look like a toy Love those quad rear wheels lol.
