  1. Hi, I know there's a 50 page stickied tyres thread, but unfortunately I didn't have 10 hours free time to trawl. I am looking for a decent set of tyres for an R34 GTR on stock rims. Wanted something of a harder compound so I don't need to change them every year - willing to give up some grip for this. Good in wet as well. Used for spirited street driving - no drifting/track. Can anyone recommend something like this for under 2k all round? I am based in Melbourne. What's a good place to get them? Thanks
  2. Hi, trying to find a good pad for my 300 awkw R34 GTR (non-vspec). Standard brembo calipers, am planning to get the DBA 4000 XS (slotted/drilled) rotors all round. It will be used 99.9% for street driving. I am looking for 1. Minimal noise (MOST IMPORTANT) 2. Minimal rotor wear 3. Cold performance 4. Minimal dust 5. Cheap In that order. Based on this, should I get the QFM HPX? Any alternative? 1-2 ppl have reported that they are squealy, which would be a deal-breaker for me. Not properly bedded in? And which store sells these? I am based in Melbourne. Oh, and when's a good time to replace pads? If it goes to the backing plate I am guessing that will be bad for the rotor. Mine are at 30% all round. Cheers.
  3. Let me know how you go. Went to sugarloaf few weeks back and didn't get one bite. This was a Sunday morning 9-1000 with clear skies. I was using diving hardbodies and soft plastics like camo worms and minnows. Also went on a chartered fishing boat last weekend on Port Phillip Bay leaving St Kilda Pier. Pretty unlucky - we had 12 guys and we caught 1 snapper and about 3 legal flatties. Snapper were schooling under sounder but just not biting. Perfect 25deg sunny day with clear skies, small wind. If you wanted to just land a fish though, it was incredibly easy to hook up undersize flatties with bait jigs (few guys got quadruple flatties). And we caught a lot of annoying starfish.
  4. Friday night on Racecourse Rd, Flemington pulled up next to a very clean White R34 GTR V-spec with LED tail-lights. Driver wound down his window and we had a quick chat. His girlfriend was like, who the f* is that? LOL Feels good when you randomly meet another friendly enthusiast driving the same car.
  5. Bayside Blue R34 GTR getting wheel-clamped cnr Chinatown and Russel at 4 pm today
  6. Holy crap 405's Found a pic of them on Camaro SS's - looks the goods Camaro SS with fat tires But the tread pattern looks different to the one in your pic - I'm not sure whether that's the same tyre. Anyone have any idea if guards on GTRs can be pumped wide enough to fit these kind of tyres (ie., without wide-body kit)?
  7. Red R34 GTR [G2ILLA] or something like that around Maidstone lunchtime.
  8. From the second article: "The massively sized 385/15ZR22 ECSTA SPT KU31 tire accommodates supercars such as the Ferrari F430, Dodge Viper, and Corvette Z06." Dunno whether this means they fit those without modification. The rear wheel arches on all three of these are pretty damn fat though.
  9. This may be old news to some, but when I came across it during my search for new tyres I was like Holy Mother of God. Kumho Widest Tyres World Car Fans - Kumho SEMA 08 Love how the second article say they have "semi run flat ability". That's because there's 1 cm between the rubber and the inside of the rim. You probably wouldn't notice if you had a flat lol. Anyone know where to get these tyres, wheels to fit them and a wide-body kit for an R34 GTR? (Tips on fast ways of making the 30k required also welcome). Being a GTR I guess you'd need 4 of them rather than just on the rears.
  10. Hey, I'll be happy to do it. Hit me up and we can organise a time. Do I get to keep the photos?
  11. Noooo, once workshops get collector's plates the chance of them ever selling them are pretty low. For a decent price anyway.
  12. Does any1 know who bought the 34GTR plate?
  13. F*ckers... they bought them today... on the flash site they still say available but when you go to pay for them it says the plates have been previously ordered.
  14. Hoon cop at 172 km/h It was this guy's car
  15. Glad to hear everyone is ok. Another win for comprehensive car insurance.
  16. Kathmandu at DFO South Wharf has 15" notebook bags on special 24.99 down from 99.99. I got one last weekend. Just ring em up and ask if they're still available.
  17. If part of the licensing system is driver training eg., at high speed, how to control spin-outs, etc like they do in Finland in the TG episode 140kmh would be safe. The problem is always money. Of course the govt is not going to choose to lose money. We should start up a political party promising higher speed limits and driver training, or get one of us elected as State Roads Minister On one hand most of the elderly and nanny-state embracers will be against it, on the other hand most reasonable people, not to mention every car enthusiast, will be for it. That would be something for me to vote for, instead of taking off my Saturday morning to randomly tick boxes for local MPs I have no idea about whenever election time comes around.
  18. Haloes are a common and known side effect, sometimes permanent. Your eye surgeon should have talked to you about that before the laser, hopefully.
  19. holy crap that's like 30 deg camber lol
  20. Rick Wolf is good. If I were heading down that path I would likely go with him.
  21. 20/20 just means that you can see at 20ft what the "average" person who doesn't need glasses can see at 20ft. Note that "average" doesn't mean perfect vision. Typically this is the 3rd line off the bottom of the eye chart. It is the same as 6/6 (eg., you can see at 6 m what Joe Blow can at 6 m). Bad vision is, for example 6/60 (you can see at 60 m what average person can see at 6) - eg., you can only see the top letter Better than 6/6 vision is, for example, 6/4 (the bottom line of a standard eye chart). You can see at 6 m what average people can only see at 4 m.
  22. Haha this reminds me of one of those $1000 pound car challenges on Top Gear. After conversion your budget is the same.
  23. What did you break on the cruise?
  24. Awww yeah
  25. That's cuz you don't like the huge GTR symbol on the SAU ones
