If you eat out a lot what I strongly suggest you get is the entertainment book Teh Entertainment Book It's like $70 for a year's worth of food, movie, video rental fun coupons. Probably has $10 grand worth of coupons in there. Many of them are great eg., 2 for 1 main meals at classy restaurants, so the book is already making money for you after two restaurants. They also have Nandos, KFC, etc in there. And it's for a good cause. You can buy it at any hospital/school/many local clubs etc.

Ferrari F430 stolen from Crown valet parking There are so many f'd up things about this. If I had a Ferrari, I know where I will NOT be parking it. What a joke. And what the hell was the thief thinking? That cops would somehow overlook the real name and address he provided?

I don't think JCI would ever pick one of their non-preferred repairers. That said, Sheen Panels in City Rd, South Melbourne is on their list and are pretty good.
-
There's no way it would be legal to get to that power, but as other people have said, there are ways to make it "almost" legal.
-
Good idea! But only 2 ppl would turn up. I tihnk that's all that came to GOR. A GTR only cruise would be good, so that we'd be able to drive at a decent speed
-
Damn, his balls are probably the size of peas from all the steroids
-
Haha that's why I said oh snap
-
Anyway, what's with all the exclusive mini-cruises? First the girl-only cruise, and now this? Charlie would be the only one who could go to both What is this? Minority cruise week? Soon we'll be having Asian-only cruises... oh snap!
-
Bikes would own so hard cuz they can overtake the slow tourist cars while we are stuck behind double white lines.
-
Post up a group photo! We can use it in advertising for more people to become SAU-Vic members

Haha used to go a lot to SHanghai Dumplings before they temporarily closed 2 years ago for a couple of months cuz of failing the health inspections. Never had the desire to go back again. Across the road at Spicy Fish there are good Xiao Long Baos.

Hahaha looks like a toilet seat cover.

Haha will remain unnamed. Yeah, of course it will make any car go faster if you take the racing line into oncoming traffic around a corner. The point is if you have to do that you are driving too fast and endangering everyone. If you want to go faster around corners without crashing into oncoming traffic you should learn to drive better or upgrade your tyres/suspension so you can go fast in your own lane. That was my point. I agree that if everyone did this there would be no need, but this doesn't happen all the time.
-
Haha, no the reason is not cuz I am going hard. It's to prevent accidents cuz of sweaty palms. The reason is safety, not speed. LOL
-
I have to add 2 things that I think should be rules on cruises, especially GOR 1. If you cannot stay in your lane you are DRIVING TOO FAST. For half of GOR I was behind a car that shall remain anonymous. He would shift to the middle of the road, straddling the double white lines, then turn into corners. This may have been crap driving, or a craply tuned suspension/ crap tyres, but in any case, the moral of the story is don't push yourself or your poor car past your limits. Don't worry about being left behind - there are enough roadblocks to always catch up. Don't worry about blocking others - if you are too slow, just sit in a turn-off and let the faster ones pass. This annoyance turned to fear when another car was doing the same on the way back from Stage 1. I had turned a blind corner and there was a skyline flying at me going the other way, straddling double white lines. If it weren't for our fast reaction times, that would've been two down. STAY IN YOUR LANE. 2. When overtaking another skyline, probably best to warn them with a high-beam flash. I had a near miss when I went to overtake a slow non-SAU car in front of me, when the skyline behind me had just pulled out and overtook us both. He was sitting in my blind spot and it would've been nasty had not the godawful screech of his massive single turbo alerted me to his intentions. This works both ways - check your rear view mirror and right blind spot before you overtake a slow car, as you could be on the verge of squashing another member trying to do the same. Thanks. Sorry to be the nanny, but in my line of work every day I see the lives of young guys destroyed by a second of irresponsible driving eg., being unable to talk, walk or eat for the rest of their miserable existence. Please be careful. It's not worth it. /end rant

Looking forward to that hillclimb already Hamish. Good idea. Only thing worth getting up early on a Saturday for.
-
Hey, that sounds good. Let us know what kind they are and what you're asking for them.

Haha well the only reason I was gripping the wheel so hard was because I had sweaty palms and was scared to let go. Every few minutes I was wiping my palms on my pants. I think I would've been far more relaxed with grippy driving gloves. First time in about 6 months where I actually pushed the GTR a bit. Almost forgot what it felt like, but great to realise why I had bought one. I might try your AC trick if I don't get gloves.
-
Hey all The GOR cruise really highlighted the fact that I need driving gloves for mountain twisties. Not because I'm a wannabe racer, but I remember a few spirited corners with sweaty palms and just dreading what would happen if my grip loosened a bit. Does anyone know of decent gloves that aren't bulky and have enough grip in them? Had a look on ebay, and the only half-decent ones for car driving are the go-kart ones. The more expensive Nomex ones I found from another post are like >$100 delivered GMP gloves OMP Gloves What are people's experiences with these or cheaper alternatives? Is Nomex the be all and end all? Also if I am looking at doing track work in the future do I need "FIA approved gloves"? Thanks.

"I saw that car too but it wasn't the L plater or that would have meant he got in front of you somehow. I gave em a thumbs up when I passed them. I didn't even see the M3 and I caught up to the first group of drivers??" Haha system doesn't let me quote within quotes. I stopped at the crossroads to consult my GPS. That's when the L plater drove past me and headed down the wrong direction lol. A minute later the R33 with the CF bonnet and the M3 went down the other (correct) way, so I followed them. They had stayed behind a bit longer with the broken R33 GTR.
-
Well, you never know who will break down. It's like russian roulette. The person who does break down will thank god he was there - but it could be any of us without the benefit of hidnsight. I would be more than happy to pay $10 for the tiny chance that my car will break down on a cruise, 200 km from Melb.
-
Huh? As in, they would only tow it to Apollo Bay? That sucks. Haha, what do you guys reckon about paying Benno to come as official SAU-VIC cruise mechanic? With his GTR expertise and driving a van full of spare parts? 50 members, each pay an extra $10, that's a cool $500 for Benno, and for us piece of mind that he should be able to fix more things with just a pair of jackstands, screwdriver and wrench than your average mechanic on GOR with no import experience.

Hahaha I was in the R34 GTR. It was so painfully slow behind that Daewoo going at 20 kmh with no-where to overtake. I decided that instead of eating up perfect mountain twisties at boring speeds, I sat in one of the turn-offs for 10 mins, then started again at full-throttle. When I caught up, it was just the L-plater behind the Daewoo. Was he the one who got pulled over on the way into Apollo Bay? Overtook them both eventually, but then noticed the L-plater going the wrong way back to Melbourne eg., not the Geelong way. Caught up with the M3 and R33 later on. Heard someone else got pulled over at the lodge. We were meant to follow Phil for Stage 1 but others started leaving first, so I just ended up following them. I think Phil ended up being last in the Stage 1 convoy @Count Grantleyish Damn, $600. Time to get roadside assist. Would've been more expensive to drive it all the way back to Melb and risk something really going wrong though. Let us know what went wrong, cuz none of us Stage 1'ers really had a clue when you pulled over. Also, We've mentioned this before, but get a decent CB ppl! I think JamesK and I are the only ones with decent 5watt ones with a proper 20 cm antenna. He recommended it to me, and was only $80 off eBay, and works a treat. I think they are called FD-460 or FDC-460. The crappy 0.5-1W ones that most people had with the 1 cm nub antennas couldn't transmit for shit. They are more for kids playing hide-n-seek, not 2km long convoys in mountainous radio-blocking areas. All we got was static on our end half the time.
