  1. 300 awkw, but still shit poor economy. With leaner, but still safe tune should be able to hit 14-15L/100 km easy.
  2. R34 GTR with 700cc injectors 280 km/50L = 18L/100kms relatively tame city driving Running rich as though, need to get it leaned out a bit. Not driving it much as $1 every 4 km adds up f'en fast.
  3. Wow! Congrats on the boat. So jealous. You can start hitting the water now. How much would that've cost you? 5-6k 2ndhand? I'm only asking cuz I'm thinking of getting a secondhand affordable fishing boat sometime in the future, and was just wondering what my budget will be like.
  4. Spoken like a true Stagea/Ignis driver
  5. Just get an M-Spec R34 GTR - performance with leather
  6. At the insanely low interest rates 5 months ago, why didn't you just get a fixed loan and buy the E46 M3 then? Would've saved on stamp duty and defect tax. I have my doubts about the E46 being a more capable car.
  7. A 1000L tank of E85 has the potential to be quite disastrous, especially if you live in a bushfire-prone area. I hate to even imagine it. Also doubt your basic insurance would cover your house and all your belongings being levelled by a massive ethanol fireball. E85 releases approx 30 kJ/gram of energy. 1000L of E85 going up = 30 GJ = 6.5 tons of TNT. Not a good idea.
  8. Haha that's patriotism
  9. Yes, that is true. There are even organised groups on the streets who deliberately put themselves in the way of cars to get compensation. When you earn $1 a day and you get hit by one of the many many cashed up businessmen driving their Mercs/Audis/BMWs, it's pocket money to them to pay you $600 hush money. Bang! 2 years salary in 10 minutes with only a light bruise on the leg to show for it. China is trying to change the laws to make it more fair cuz of this very reason.
  10. Bastards. How did it happen? Alarm/immobiliser/garage? I'll keep an eye out for them. Shouldn't be too hard to spot.
  11. When you're pulled over, turn off the engine, wind down driver's side window, keep both hands fully visible on the steering wheel with your licence ready in one of them, if it's dark turn on the car interior light, be polite. Simple steps you can do to minimise misunderstanding.
  12. What the? Did someone edit my posts... I could've sworn I wrote sweating like a cop instead of what's up there now. Really, no offence to cops and all. I'm sure it wasn't a Freudian slip. confused EDIT: Er.... what's going on? The posting system automatically changes the word for "the animal that we harvest pork from" to our well-respected police officers.... When did this happen? Then again, it was probably the first time I mentioned that farm animal.
  13. Yeah, Mornington Peninsula locales like Sorrento/Portsea are where all the holiday homes of the rich & famous are. I was overdosing on European super-exotica down there last Xmas. When I came back to Melb and saw a Ferrari 360, I was like "meh".
  14. Haha no didn't ask. I came out of Hungry Jack's on that corner scoffing down a whopper and sweating like a cop in 40 C heat. Don't think I was in the zone when I saw her It must be summer or something... saw a stunning, supermodel-material bronzed beauty parking a red EVO IX next to me on Commercial Rd just a few hundred metres down the road from the GTR.
  15. Ah ok, thanks for the advice. I was always wondering how much fish I could actually safely eat from the Maribyrnong River, near where I live. Doing this will put my mind more at ease, even though probably won't change the PCB concentration stored away in the fish fat. http://www.oem.vic.gov.au/Adviceforpeoplew...ribyrnongRivers http://www.health.vic.gov.au/environment/d...ds/eat_fish.pdf Apparently I'm not mean to eat more than 1 serve of fish a week or 1 serve of eel a month. I guess it also depends exactly where in the river I catch them. Surely more upstream is less polluted. On Google Earth you can see the river becoming more and more polluted/brown as it winds its way down south. By the time it joins the yarra it looks like a sewage channel (could also be from the heavier water traffic on the Yarra at that point).
  16. Silver (or was it black?) R32 GTR driven by blonde girl in sunnies cnr Commerical Rd and Chapel St around lunchtime. Standard plates. Big GTR sticker on rear quarter panels. Always see a silver R33 GTS/-T parked in BP Whitehall. Probably works there.
  17. Does this work with other fish too?
  18. What do you do with eels? Do you eat them like unagi?
  19. Yeah, got pinged for waiting for a car to leave. 60 secs. Bastards. Why don't you just get new personalised plates? $495 must be cheaper than getting hauled over every other week cuz your rego's in their bad books.
  20. Ah ok, cool. They must be quite rare.
  21. I agree. But I guess for die-hard aussie V8 fans who won't consider anything else that's the pinnacle of their life's goals Then again, people could say the same for parting almost 300k for a Nissan (spec V) What kind of TVR is that?
  22. http://www.theage.com.au/business/end-of-road-for-saab-after-rescue-talks-fail-20091219-l6l7.html Forgive me for my newbishness... not sure how to put a direct link in a post. Does it mean that as dealerships close they will sell off cars for a hugely discounted price?? But I guess it also means that they won't honour their car warranties.
  23. Where's good to fish on great ocean rd? Trying to decide between Warrnambool surf fishing vs Port Campbell, Apollo bay or Lorne pier fishing. Some estuaries are also good along GOR? I'm lazy so I like lure fishing - can't be assed buying bait and keeping it fresh. What do people recommend? I've heard raiders are good for aussie salmon. I really don't mind what I catch, as long as it's edible. Thanks.
  24. http://www.theage.com.au/national/digitect...91218-l1nq.html Haven't seen this thing in action for decades... dusted off and given a new lease on life. Be careful guys.
  25. Hey, what would happen if you managed to put it into neutral with a stuck cruise control? Would it still rev the shit out of that engine? Would this be a different situation on manual cars with cruise control? As these systems can't change gears for you like the auto ones can? Just trying to figure out what the best thing to do if we found ourselves in that situation is. So I guess it should be (trying one after the other): 1. Try braking 2. Turn key to "acc" position as Ash suggested - engine off but no steering wheel lock 3. Try to decelerate on the cruise control setting +/- setting 4. Put car in neutral
