Strange Flat Spot Between 4000 And 6000 Rpm
ClutchBurndout-:( replied to wallas's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i also have a similar problem, mines straight to the actuator and is around 8psi, but at around the 5k mark the psi boosts way over 8psi to more like 14psi, can this be fixed with a slight clamping of the boost hose from the intercooler or the one to the actuator? -

with the hoses ive done exactly whatever they’ve said, I changed the actuator because I changed the turbo, the turbo I bought was a s2 and it came with the stock actuator, so when I mean I changed the actuator I realy changed the whole turbo with actuator. as for the hoses, can anyone give me a pic of what they have? So I can refer to it and copy? -

Is that it? Is there anyway to put it back to stock? Is there no fix for this issue? Why is it doing this now and not wene it was at stock? -

Pal its the stock ecu so i dont know if it can run rich? i cant remember if it was before i decatted, ive ordered a catco cat so we will soon see! Boostin96 the solonoid is all blocked off at the moment, theres a pipe to the lower hole but its blocked aswell, all the hoses are done as you suggested. i have a bellmouth yes, its just a one bit 3 inch pipe to the back of the turbo, but when i had a split pipe in, it was also doing this. you say, remove all the crap in there so its just one pipe? but at the moment i just have the one hose from the cooler piping to the actuator, i dont think it can get any simpler lol -

ok i took her for a spin tonight, i took it easy in 1 and 2, 3 i floord it, it when normaly to .5kpa and paused there for a sec, then it started to creep slowley toward 1bar, now heres the thing, it got to 1bar and stopped, then came back to .9bar and sat then i backed off, when it got to 1bar i was doing about 130 so i backed off. so it wont go over 1bar and will come back to .9bar as soon as it gets to 1bar. i wasnt really looking at the taco at the time but i never reached the rev limiter, so i think it got to 1bar at around 6k -

Well it gets to .5 bar and pauses for a second at around 5k rpm and starts creeping, it got to .7 bar before i pulled off, couldve gone more, felt the same roughness, it also had this strange power boostwene it was past .5 bar.... -

ok i took it for a spin with no controller etc doing the exact same thing! the hoses are fine theres no leaks etc, any specific hoses i should check on the engine? im getting the intercooler pressure tested next week to see if its that to -

ok i will, out of curiosity, what will is run at psi wise? theres no controller or restricter, will it run what the actuator spring is? -

Ok, wat do i do with the hoses wat is the stock setup? And i dont hav the hose with the little ball restricter, does this matter? or will not having the restricter bring it to 10 pound? -

Ok will do, but out of curiosity wont the mixture be out of wack and tuned to 12 p? Will puting it to the actuator put it down to stock 7p ? Also, do i keep the solonoid hoses blocked? Wat should i do with the hoses apart from running the cooler hose to the actator? -

It did the same as the other gears, gets to around 4.5, 5k rpm and starts to go past the 12 mark, it got to 14 before i pulled away. Sounded the same felt the same roughness -

as much as i would love a new ecu i dont want to go that path as they are not legal, im not saying my car is legal lol but i dont want it getting worse, i think i might get it tuned to 12 if i cant find a easy fix. also, can someone answer me a question, is the rough feeling when its creeping it running lean? -

yes i will try what everyone has suggested, i will look at changing the controller, the controller i have right now is a turboXS i think, i dont know if there any good or not, i dont think the actuator is the problem as i changed the turbo and actuator and the same thing is happening, unless my luck is that bad that both actuators were buggered. if i were to put on a 10p r32 actuator can i tune the car to 12 pound still? also i wouldnt mind it creeping if the weird rough feeling wasnt there from 12-14+ psi... -

ClutchBurndout-:( replied to ClutchBurndout-:('s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ok when you say that it sounds very plausable because when I turn the boost down it seems to run richer, I cant ell because the back of my car gets blacker, and when I turn it up it gets less black. Also, when I turn it down, the point where it pauses at 12 and then continues to move toward 14 pound seems to happen at a high rpm, and when i turn the boost up, it will move past 12 pound at a early/lower rpm. To me the way to solve this problem is to have it tuned to 10 pound so this retard/rich ecu problem dosent happen, or will it happen to this to? will it then reach 10 pound and then creep to 12 pound and run rough, the same what its doing now but with 10-12p instead of 12-14? -

i dont realy understant what your trying to say with the boost creep and spikes but this is exactly what happens, I floor it in second for example, and its climbing normaly in psi to 12 pound, it makes a small pause at 12 then continues climbing to 14 pound, it dosent spike instantly from 12 to 14, it just climbs the same it would from 1-12, and as i said, i dont know for sure but i dont think 14 is what it stops at, it could keep climbing but i dont want to try it lol. i will also try the 3rd gear option mentioned to see what happens, i have given it a little bit of a go but it seemed fine, but i didnt realy reach the higher rpms. also, i blocked off the orangy brown hose seen in the pic this morning, nothing has changed. cheers -

i was doing a bit of reading, i have a 3 inch dump pipe witch includes the flap inside the same pipe, could the boost creep be because of this? its alot of boost creep, from 12 to 14+pound -

the orengy brown one goes to another pipe wich is the blowoff into the intake i think? -

if it were a boost spike it wouldnt feel rough or leaky or not sure how to explain it once it passes 12 p -

ok i took a pic of the controller setup -the red dotted hose comes from the intercooler pipe and into the side of the boost controller -the teal colored arrow on the controller points inwards into the controller -the yellow hose is going to the actuator -the green hose the top of that little gadget is blocked as you can see -the orangey brown hose goes to one of the pipes under the 2 big pipes shown in the pic, the pipe that it goes to cannot be seen in the pic but its metal and about and inch wide and i think its part of the blow off system does this setup look right?
