  1. ^ priceless, thanks for making my night. +1 for the ridiculous geelong commodore drivers.. not sure what they are thinking, for example in my barina, yes barina, with the beats on loud n the sub hitting hard (i voted ricer so dont worry, i know). Had some old commo pull up at the lights, hear it n start reving. big wheel spin n shot off, same at the next lights except this time he wanted me to try, not sure if he thought loud music meant fast car or what... hopefully he got pulled over somewhere down the track.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NISSAN-SKYLINE-R33-...p3286.m20.l1116 i know ebay can be dodgy, but i got some boots via these people to replace the old tattered on in my barina and they are really good, nice leather, very neat stitching, you have to use your own plastic, but that shouldnt be to hard to remove. I then just used a cheap staple gun to staple the new stuff on and popped it back in. I know that listing doesnt have the gear boot there but have a look at their stuff and you should find one, the request your cars model and year etc to make sure its right. GL
  3. I got an alpine 9882 headunit for $400 installed, that includes the fullspeed ipod cord +$10 for a usb cord for playing off memory sticks, all wired into your glove box. Its not the fanciest head unit from alpine but it sounds amazing, its pretty much just doesnt let you change all the light colours, and doesnt have a vid screen. It does let you switch a couple between red and blue tho. as for turning off the lights, i guess you could just take off the faceplate...?
  4. Im in the process of doing the same, and one of my cig lighters had the resistors etc in there, but what ive done is unscrew the casing and pull the wires off the cig plug inside, so now they can be wired to anything just a tip that might be useful
  5. I think its all solved. My gear has finally been delivered and they are kits, so they have the resistors etc, so im basically rewiring the power source of them from the cig lighter plug to the back of it via a switch thanks for all your advice guys, much appreciated
  6. if i use the cig lighter will i need a resistor cause they are made to be plugged in there?

    Autobarn

might as well add my autobarn story. I know nothing about audio installs, so i had them do it, very clean job and sounds great, was worried going there at first but i has happy when it was all finished. I drove from there to pick up my gf and when i got home i noticed the eng temp was about 7c hotter then usual, and there was a loud hiss coming from the engine bay, i took it back to them and the guy just stared at it for a while. He then said, 'think ive done something there'. He sent me to a aircon/elect specialist down the road. Long story shortish, they cracked an aircon pipe when tapping into the battery for the amp, and they are now paying for a new part, regas and labour totalling around $400 to fix their mistake.
  8. I didnt realise fuses were so cheap, can i use the same kind of stuff you would use for wiring in an amp? but by it separetly, like not in an amp wiring kit? Sorry are you saying to put all the pos from the LEDs into one switch, or to wire the neg from one into the pos for another and create a loop back to the ground?
  9. Hi guys. Im putting together a pretty simple led interior system into my car but im not too sure how i should power it. I know i can hook onto the back of the cig lighter, but then i dont think i will have a fuse, and seeing as im having 6 sets of LEDs i really want one. I have a power cable coming from the battery to power my amp, and that has an inline fuse. Im wondering if there is any way to hook into this, and if there is will it affect the power going to the amp? and in turn affect my bass levels?? Any suggestions guys? the set up im having is just from the power source, to a switch to each of the LEDs to the ground. Also, im 90% sure about this but i can just wire one set of LEDS to next cant I? Any help would be great, thanks! -Burgies ps sorry if this is in the wrong forum
  10. There a ways with dealing with the old school speed cameras too, just a story i thought i would share. It occured in brisbane on a strech of high way that drops from 90 to 60 and often has speed traps set up there. I saw in a small story in the newspaper that some legend had snuck up to the car the camera was housed in, and stole its number plates. He then proceeded to attach them to his car and continuosly speed past the trap. Police couldnt do shit about it, they couldnt find out who it was. How the paper found out about it im not sure, but probably why it was such a small story.
  11. The car audio shop down the road from me has an enclosure sitting around that replaces part of a skylines boot. The guy said it wont take up any extra room. Not sure which model it will fit into but PM me for the places name as im not sure if i will be breaking the rules saying a stores name on here. Pretty sure they said they got it from the gold coast so prob wont see them around very much.
  12. mate of mine had a MR2, n because the engine is between the boot and the cabin he had a 12" slim sub behind each seat, that kicked hard!
  13. lol so ill admit im not very mechanically inclined, thanks for your help, good advice dan, feel free to delete the thread
  14. The thing is i feel theres not much more of a challenge in this car, at least in its current state. I drive it hard, as hard as it goes at least n its a great little car. I know it in and out and know just how to push everything its got onto the road. Is there anything out there I can do to make it go that bit harder?
  15. Yeah thats it, thought it sounded a bit off. Thanks for the help. Does anyone know of anything I can do to make the car a bit quicker without spending too much? thanks again.
