  1. If it's a heater/Radiator hose don't use it. It needs to be oil hose. Coolant/water hose shouldn't be used with oil as it will deteriorate very quickly as the oil will soak into it.
  2. You can use this hose if it is oil hose(not fuel or vaccuum) and if "it is" low pressure Dexron atf is standard auto trans fluid, The castrol power steering fluid will probably be this just repackaged and labeled as "power steering" fluid so they can charge you more for the same product
  3. It depends on when the vehicle was imported. As far as I know if the vehicle is over 15 years you don't need a compliance plate to license it, but I would check with your state govenment. The green compliance plate is needed if it is less than 15 years old when imported. You can also get a red compliance plate, These are for personally imported vehicles. The laws have changed in the last couple of years but I am sure this is how it is now
  4. I did a 100000 km service on an r33 late last year I can't remember how much I paid for the parts but I'm sure the timing belt kit was a lot cheaper than that. Also If you are doing the water pump check the price from Nissan, you may be surprised. The non genuine water pumps have 1 hole that doesn't quite line up. You can do a mod for this but I'm sure I only paid about $20 extra for a genuine pump. It is a lot easier to fit especially if the mechanic doing the job isn't a Skyline expert. Also they would have quoted you for standard spark plugs. Get platinum or Iridium plugs. You won't have to get them changed for another 100000km. With standards they will charge you an hours labour every 20000 km or so to change them. So it is cheaper in the long run
  5. Hi skylines Australia, I am a newbie to the forum but I have been reading for a while. I mainly come here to pick up some tips and to further my knowledge of Skylines. I have been a mechanic for 20 years. I started working with Holdens in the early vk,vl,vn days. Then I worked for a small business where we worked on all types of cars including a few race and rally cars and doing some strange conversions (Turbo Supra engine into an old Mk2 Jag). For the last 6 years I have been doing inspections on used cars. The main reason for my sign up is my nephew has a passion for skylines and he is onto his second R33, and lucky me I get to do the repairs when he wants upgrades or runs into problems. After driving this car, I can see why he loves it. I recently picked up an aquaintence in it, this guy is a big 4x4er, and his first comment was ".......bloody rice burning crap". After the first corner when I gave it a bit of stick, I glanced sideways at him sinking back into the chair and when the back end decided to come back I nailed it. After a few profanities from him he said "Far out I didn't realise how quick these things are." Next time I saw him which was a couple of months later he was still talking about it! At the moment I am after a few parts so I will post in the appropriate section, if anyone has any questions I will try my best to help, if needed. Thanks Tank
