  4. not sure on what the biggest u can go. but on my rb25/30 i have got kelford cams 280 with 9.5mm lift. im not running VCT on my motor

  6. my progress so far - and parts i have got. Rb30 block - decked acid bath bored 20tho over JE forged pistons standard rods - shot piened crank cleaned up and machined crank collar N1 oil pump ACL race series bearings and gaskets Oil restrictors - unsure on exact size,but a 1mm drillbit fits in the front restrictor easily, but doesnt fit the rear. Rb25det head(unsure what series) full recondition and check valve seat regrind( race grind) aftermarket heavy duty valve springs new seals 280 inl/ext kelford cams 9.5 lift (paperwork i have says they are drag racing cams) Gates adjustable cam gears Turbo - Garret Gt35r with .82 rear housing Tial 38mm external wastegate have got an rb20 engine cross member and brackets,will also be using ford cortina engine mounts - hopefully it will get the motor sitting low enough so i dont have 2much issues with bonnet clearance. any idea on what kinda power figures i could expect to get with this set up? what size injectors should i be looking at getting?recomend any brands? also what fuel pump should i get? have been told that i should consider using multipul fuel pumps and surge tank. what water pump is recomended to keep the motor the coolest? i am considering using an electric water pump - thoughts? remember this is going into a 180sx and the biggest issue i am going to have is keeping the underbonet temps as low as possible. the guy i got the block and head from had already put some oil restrictors in. And the block and head have had the external Oil feed modifications done.also the hole in the head for VCT has been blocked. Q. the cams that i am using are non VCT, is ther anything that i needs to be done to the head because the cams i have got are non VCT? do i just use the external oil feed and just block it off at the head and block? any other advice or thoughts you wanna tell me,feel free thanks
  7. i am putting a rb30det in2 a 180sx and am using an rb20 crossmember and engine brackets. what engine mounts are u all using? i have been told that ford cortina engine mounts will make the engine sit the lowest,has any1 used these?and any idea on the part number, i have looked in a engine mount book and there are 2sizes of cortina mounts, and its just the thickness of the rubber, 1 is 35mm and the other 45mm, a stock r32 engine mount is around 45mm. i dont understand how using a cortine engine mount will make it sit lower when the mount bolts onto the cross member on an angle. any info u can give would be good, i dont wanna have to get custom mounts,or drill what i have thanks
  8. i have been told my block has the oil restrictors in it already,but am unsure how to check if they are.i am using an N1 pump,so what size should they be? slowly collecting all the parts i need and will start putting the motor together this weekend.
  9. i am in the process of building an rb30det, i picked up a head and am unsure of what series it is. how do i tell the difference? and what is better?
  10. where are u located mate? ive got a guy lined up to do the wiring on my rb25/30 in2 a 180sx and he is gunna do it really cheap
  11. will just have to cut a hole in the bonnet i think.or space it up on the latches. i am going 2be using a front facing plenum so it shud help with clearance issues

  13. guy i bought the motor off said he had installed the oil restrictors, ill check it on my next day off work. ill check that site out, i am planning on going aftermarket cams anyway. i have decided to go a rb26dett oil pump, i can pick 1up new for $550. i will take the crank back 2my machine shop on tuesday and get them 2fit the collar.
  14. $3000 was on - je forged pistons. acl race series bearings and gaskets. bored 20thou over, acid bath,final clean,all new welsh plugs, crank cleaned,polished and regrind, ther was a couple other things just dont have the reciept here. i will b using this car as my daily driver, and it will not really be seeing the track. think i will use the crank collar i have here and possible go a new rb25det oil pump. with the restictors - the block i got aparently has them in. how do i know? i will contact southside cylinder heads 2morrow. Do GTR valve springs fit the rb25det head?
  15. ns.com have alot of info on ther, but they are all doing different things, so it is hard 2get a straight answer. got the bottom end back on tuesday, $3000 later and i still need to figure out what im doing about an oil pump. i have got the crank collar, but have made afew calls and been told not 2use that, and im better off getting the crank welded and machined - $250, also what oil pump should i be using? have got quoted $710 for an rb25det. also does any1 recomend a place in brisbane to get the work on my head done? and what do u recomend getting done to it? i have read the build guide, just wanting to know what u recomend.
  16. got some je? forged pistons, shud get block back tuesday from the shop, still having trouble finding out what cross member i shud b using.
  17. ive gotten in contact with repco and got quoted $1450 4mahle forged pistons. where can i get them for $830? do u have the part number?
  18. progress - went with acl race series bearings. i am having an issue with getting pistons, i decided that i would go on the cheap side of things as i am not chasing big power figures, i got in contact with the supleir for mahle, told him what it is i was doing and that i needed a rb30e piston that was 20tho over. they stock this piston. but he has told me that he highly recomend not to use the rb30e pistons and 2go forged as the 30e piston will not handle anything over 7psi boost and it will be unreliable. Is there any1 that is using the standard 30e pistons on there builds and run into problems? what boost is safe on the 30e pison? Where can i get the rb30e pistons from in brisbane?other than repco. do i still use the rb30e rings? or is there some other i shud use? or do i just spend the dollors on forged pistons - got afew quotes and im looking anywhere between $1345 - $1500 for pistons,rings and pins.

  20. block and crank have now gone to get checked out and cleaned up. contacted repco today and got quoted $625 for rebuilt kit, thats all bearings,pistons,rings and gaskets and they are the ACL brand. my budget is around $7000-$8500 and thats to have the motor in the car running. goal - around 300-350kw and it has to be reliable as i will drive it most days
