  1. I wonder if this is in any way related to power levels ? ie. has anyone had either the factory tensioner or idler pulley bolts snap out of the blue on a mildly modified car ie 200-270kw?
  2. I've never been on that road so don't know the conditions ..plus they're saying its gonna be pissing down bad. Driving 200+ kms through rain and unfamiliar roads would kinda suck

I've been quoted $280 by my regular skyline mechanic to do this and he hasn't returned my call in more than 2 weeks so I'm thinking ..f**k him, I might just do this myself as it doesn't look that hard at all. Does anyone know what exact torque to use on the rocker cover bolts and which order do you tighten the bolts in when putting the covers back on? Oh yeah, referring to an rb25det NEO (r34 gtt) The only thing that worries me about doing this is shit like dirt, bugs or lint falling into my engine or intake ..that could end up disastrous.

  8. I got $400 for mine iirc ..had decent non-yumcha rubber on it down to about 50% I think...no gutter rash and centre caps. Just to give you an idea I regret getting rid of mine .. would be perfect for the track to have dedicated wheels/rubber. Plus the 17s are alloy and much lighter than anything aftermarket you get (unless you get jap forgies)

  10. anyone tried using that foam/rubber thingy from clarkrubber, the one with the shiny foil on one side to create a ghetto enclosure? the stuff is pretty easy to bend and I've been meaning to get a sheet and try to make an enclosure. Should be easy enough to cut all the holes for the piping and even use the stock snorkel. Wouldn't look very neat but as long as it encloses the pod properly and allows stock snorkel to feed the pod that'd be awesome Just not sure what to use to glue the f**ker to the engine bay chassis ..something like sikaflex ? or would that melt at 70-80c deg ?
  11. lol wut ? 50l/100kms ??? And I thought my 18l/100 was bad! But seriously ..no way no how, you must have a fuel leak somewhere. Does the engine bay smell like fuel ? Get it checked out asap as it could catch on fire
  12. you mean castrol SAF-XA right ? Cant find an XE anywhere.. 've already got shockproof lightweight for the gearbox Oh and I just read in another thread (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Castrol-Diff-Oil-t157915.html) that the SAF-XA is too heavy for a skyline diff and to use that hypoid stuff ? Hmm ..might just ask Nissan what they use/recommend and stick with that for the diff.
  13. 6s will do the job ..but 7s are probably better for > 200rwkw and put the gap back up to .9 or 1mm and you should be ok. If that doesn't fix it, one or more of your jjr coils are dodgy.

  15. yo so how often would you say diff oil needs changing and which one for a R34 GTT?
  16. what's the deal with the torque figures ..is that normal to be up that high witha hiflow ??? stock gtt should have about 340nM at 3200rpm yet you get 340 at about 4200rpm edit: maybe I should check my facts first .. above is according to 'specs' but looking at my own dyno sheet (stock turbo) it shows 280nm at 3200rpm and 310 at 4200rpm but yeah yours is still less at 3200rpm
  17. r34 workshop manual states 4.3l engine oil with filter (3.9 without).. gearbox is about 3.7l from memory
  18. yeah magman is pretty cheap .. quoted $200 to fix severe gutter rash on 2 of my wheels. He was quite busy when I went ..like a 2 week wait so I never ended up doing it. Might give him a call soon and book it in. Does anyone know if cast wheels that have been slightly buckled from hitting a curb can be fixed?? When I had my wheels balanzed by JAX they said one of the wheels couldn't be perfectly balanced with weights due to it but that it wasn't serious.. just that it was always a little unbalanced
  19. I got the eastbear copies (like JJR sell) from ebay for about $350 .. I painted the blinkers to amber as I hate the ghey clear crap .. They still look a bit ricey but nice at the same time. I'd much prefer the nismo ones but not for $1363 (current nengun price) That extra $1000 can buy a nice turbo instead
  20. how responsive is it compared to the stock turbo ? do you have any dyno graphs of it? and what other mods did you have to achieve 270rwkw? That seems a bit high for a hi flow. Yes I'm interested but I've heard these buggers can be a lot laggier than the stockies and I'm after response for a daily not top end power
  21. the eastbear R34 GTR copies (made in same factory, apparently more durable fabrics than original GTR ones) cost only about $800 per seat from memory
  22. yeh its about $550 from nengun but they quote delivery times up to 4 weeks so for an extra $25 it was worth it for me if they arrive within a week or so..
  23. bought the same ones .. been a week and nothing yet (not even reply from seller) Will see what happens next week. Not sure what you mean about the packaging though, it looks the same as everywehre else
  24. um that's your coolant intake hose ..change it, don't patch it up. It costs about $30 for a generic copy or $50 for a nissan one and about 30mins of work vs $3k for a new engine.
  25. o i c .. I thought that might be the case but seemed a bit dodgey Found some feeler gauges online though which do have everything up to 1.5mm
