get an Autowatch alarm/immobiliser ... (the best one, forgot what its called) It has a turbo timer built in, it's all black wiring and a top brand. Cost me $450 or so installed by 'Security In Motion' (sydney) The steering wheel issue I'd get checked out by a decent mechanic ..it doesn't sound good. It would help if you updated your public profile with your city/location if you want people to suggest installers/mechanics etc (this goes to all you lazy bastards!$!)

I have a spare one ..changed mine to check if the old one's working and it was. You can have it for $50 if you want. it's from an R34 GTT so just confirm if it's the same (should be) and pm me if interested.

My Turbo Sounds Like A Rubber Duck When Boosting
Wacky Dee replied to shaunzo101's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm getting the same noise ..only under boost .. but I'm not sure where it's coming from as I didn't think you could get the turbo to spin up unless there is load.. Just like in your case performace seems to be normal -
also at the Rocks ... Lowenbrau

Anyone From Parramatta ? Good Place To Live ?
Wacky Dee replied to Wacky Dee's topic in New South Wales
yep definately not getting ground floor unit ..and it'd have to be a security building with a lockup garage (that I shall fortify + remote open/close with no locks on the outside probably) -
I'm looking to buy an apartment to live in myself within the next few months most likely ... since I'm single and income (as far as taxman is concerned...lots of business write offs, nothing dodgy though) is average I don't have much choice in terms of suburbs as I can't get more than approx. $350k which can buy a REALLY nice and big 2bdr+garage apartment in Paramatta.. (same money would give me a friggin shithole of a studio in the inner west with a bit of change left over) Anyway, was just wondering if any of you guys live in Parra and how you would rate it for 1) safety/security/crime 2) travel to city 3) local pubs etc 4) cops attitudes towards import drivers I have no plans to have kids any time soon etc so that sort of 'safety' doesn't concern me .. I'm more concerned with say burglaries etc I'd hate to not be able to take my skyline to the shops eg. westfield or local pizza joint, for fear of some dickhead always looking to break into it. I'm just not sure if it's that sort of 'burb that's all ... Any of you living in Parra (not Granville or Auburn or Blacktown ..I mean Parra +/- 5 min drive from Parra CBD) had your skylines or apartments broken into ? Are cops generally OK towards import drivers ? I find the cops in the inner west quite tolerant and they never give me any shit.. Edit: I should mention and this is probably quite important ... I work FROM HOME ..so travel to the city is unimportant unless it's for leisure on the weekends.

Gcg Hiflow Over Boosting To 18 Psi
Wacky Dee replied to DFAULT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
think they make less boost on rb25's and more on rb20s ..could that be it ? Something to do with smaller engines making more boost easier...but I obviously don't know much about this stuff so I'll shutup. -
you don't need the battery for this or any other test .. you can connect the ground cable to any unpainted chassis part
-
happy to report multimeter showed 0v in the coolant ..and that's on a 100mV setting, needle didn't budge.
-
no, its random...

Thanks mate .. I do always switch TCS off via button when I jump in the car so maybe after a few hundred times of having pushed that button it's starting to dislike me doing that ?? Or could this have something to do with the dust the other day
-
its a greddy ebc .. yeah I think the actuator rod might be slightly bent there's no other explanation I can think off. I'll get it checked out by unigroup ..thanks and sorry for the hijack
-
I think my wastegate actuator is dodgy ... what's the best way of checking if it's working 100% ?? On some days I can hear the turbo spool up like crazy and car feels so unrestricted/crazy fast but most days I cant hear the turbo spool at all (even though my boost controller and gauge show im making boost) and car feels VERY lethargic Is it cheaper to simply replace the wastegate actuator with a brand new one from Nissan rather than muck around with it? Mine could be bent slightly I think ... had some issues with it when I first got the car..

Just the other day when we had that dust storm car behaved a bit weird .. throttle got stuck at 2000rpm once like it couldn't idle prperly and then a while later SLIP light came on. I connected the nissan consult and checked for error codes and it showed 'code 17' .. but I can't find that code anywhere and I've googled and searched here as well. After resetting the ecu it hasn't logged any errors since so I'm thinking it was probably something to do with that dust everywhere .. but I don't think it's my air intake as the filter looks clean

That's probably not VERY bad but it's still no good to have anything above 0v.. tried earthing the radiator ? Got myself a cool multimeter today but didn't get a chance to measure it as it got dark, will do tommorow. Just a question in regards to earthing wire .. thicker is better right? ie. less resistance the more strands etc If I get anything above 0v I'll get the thickest gauge copper cable and run it to the battery negative post..

can anyone recommend a product to remove the acid rain type of stains on the rear windshield and quarters .. ? I seem to remember there being a discussion about these and it being common for any fresh jap imports... but I can't quite remember the products that were recommended.
-
where did you attach the earth wire on the radiator side ? My new alloy rad doesn't touch the chassis anywhere so I'm not quite sure where a stray current would enter from.. unless it comes through the coolant from the engine side. So I suppose if it's going to enter from the engine coolant the best place to earth the radiator would be somewhere near the top hose ??
-
I'm using the Nulon premixed green stuff .. 33% glycol the rest demineralized water, My understanding of earthing kit perhaps making it worse is because the earth wire could actually be used by the stray currents to actually enter the coolant rather than leave it .. depends on where the bad earth is I guess. No point in guessing though, checking with an accuirate analogue multimeter should be easy enough.. I'll let you know my findings tommorow.

how much for the 2 external plastic strips that go above the doors and down the A pillar ? are they in pristine condition? I scratched mine to hell removing the factory weather shields.. -
if you read the NS site ..apparently earthing the rad can make the stray currents worse .. Weird shit. I'm getting a multimeter tommorow with milivolt measurements ($30 at jaycar) and I'll see what comes up .. Apparently anything more than 50mV in the coolant is BAAAAD.
-
hmmm fark ... changed to a 40mm aluminium radiator recently .. never knew about this stray currents stuff. Oh well at least I did use a Nulon coolant flush product and rinsed like 5 times with tap water before putting new coolant in.. so atleast hopefully I don't need to worry about old coolant reacting with the new Nulon coolant. But I never did check for stray currents .. on NS the info posted says to run the engine to operating temps with radiator cap off and then chuck in the mutlimeter probe. But how the hell do you run it to operating temps without coolant coming out of radiator cap opening .. unpossible! Anyway, time to check for stray currents methinks..

how much for the drivers seat ?? I am only after the seat rail but will get the lot and you can chuck the seat in the bin if you want after removing rail.. Cheers -
seriously wtf they're drift cars who cares what they look like ?? It's like criticizing F1s about their lack of subwoofers..get a clue. I missed this and was so looking forward to going .. Anyone know when it will be televised on either FTA or foxtel ?
-
what's the alternative, pulling out the engine to spray the engine bay and pay an extra $1000-$2000 just for that ? I wouldn't bother ..who cares what it looks like under the bonnet as long as it's not dirty or rusted

my window was open this morning as I was still sleeping and I kept waking up as I had difficulties breathing ... then when I finally did get up I realized what's up. f**king hell, I might have some early stages of asthma I think I'm starting to panic.. so hard to breathe even with all windows closed Even the car started behaving weirdly .. just went to the local shops to buy some milk and sitting at the lights the revs got stuck at 2000rpm until I blipped the throttle a bit ..thena while later SLIP light came on. It's gotta be the dust messing the sensors or intake up
