  1. excuse my ignorance .. but what would be the point of bigger discs if you keep the stock calipers/pads ? Wouldn't the stock calipers/pads braking surface still be the same .. ie. you'd just have an extra unusued part on the new discs, The braking is achieved with the pads being applied to disc surface .. so if the pads are the same (stock) size, what's the point ?!?
  2. is it true that all skylines with ABS have that spongy brake feel ? Like the initial travel is a few cm with no bite whatsoever ... ? Mine are like this and I've read in numerous posts people having the same issue and those that don't, don't appear to have ABS at all.. If that's true ..I'd stay away from the ABS. The lack of initial bite and feeling of having stuck your foot in a bucket of mud doesn't inspire much confidence when braking.
  3. if it's a coilover kit the shocks are probably matched to the hard springs ...so changing to softer springs wouldn't be ideal
  4. hoses gotta be changed anyway ..they're looking a bit tired. I've ordered the gates racing ones from repco ...came to $90 all up with clamps and $20 delivery fee (crock of shit). The worst thing is apparently they were selling these hoses on a special recently for $30 and had stock in most stores and now they're all out... perfect timing as usual Hopefully they don't take "5-10 days" like they said ..that would just suck.
  5. DTM ..pretty cheap and light and look good. But if you want light..better take offs and better ride quality, stick to 17s. When my tyres are worn out someday in a year or so I'm def going back to 17"s..
  6. hey siddr bro how do you take shots of the rear tail lights without getting the tail light reflectors from screwing up the colour? any tips ? Yeah I have those east bear copies with the chrome reflectors inside ..
  7. I am from the future, duhhhh ? Tommorows lotto numbers are 31 32 33 34 35 and I'm not saying the final number so as not to screw with the time space continuum.
  8. set it to sync with an NTP server via cron ..I had this same issue with one of my servers until I did that. eg. add this to your crontab: 0 * * * * /usr/sbin/ntpdate -u au.pool.ntp.org > /dev/null 2>&1 && /sbin/hwclock --systohc
  9. god what a pain in the ass .. Repco sell the Gates Racing for about $60 (top and bottom) or $70 with new clamps included .. BUT they gotta order them in and that takes 5-10 working days. WTF ? If you order anything from Nissan it's there next day doesn't matter which state it's coming from.. GHEYEEEEYEYEYEYEYEYEEYE.
  10. anyone know any sydney stores that sells radiator hoses for all sorts of cars ? Not keen on paying $110 for genuine nissan top/bottom hose when I can get the reinforeced Gates hoses from ebay for the same price. I'm taking the radiator out next few days and getting it professionally cleaned so would like to replace hoses while I'm at it .. The factory hoses still look OK (not leaking) but I won't be able to take them off the spouts without cutting as they won't budge after 10 years ..
  11. well not for $250 .. I was quoted $100 if I bring mine in for a clean .. it's just 2 bolts/brackets and hoses to remove the radiator
  12. get a heat range 7 if getting coppers
  13. just sell those as a package...someone will take them for their track car more than likely. And then you have many options .. you could always get stocko nissan shocks/springs for next to nothing (I sold mine for $100 and they were not leaking)
  14. fan clutch still in tact ? please pm me
  15. no it's not the same guy ..is that why you dug up a 6 month old thread? Just for the record I think the Steve guy above has got it wrong completely in terms of which hoses is for what. But he's right in saying you are (were) worrying about nothing. The cooling system is pressurized and will only allow so much water IN as much as has come out through the thermostat. The radiator no matter how good will never make the water freezing cold, only a bit colder than what it was when it came out of the engine. Other important points which were probably mentioned already .. the thermostat is not an on/off switch, it opens slowly from 82c to 95c on the NEO. Bigger radiator that cools the coolant much better will just result in the thermostat opening and closing more often, nothing else.
  16. well it wasn't the factory coolant sensor ..$100 down the drain The new ECT sensor shows the same temps as the previous stocko one .. still about 10 degrees Celsius difference between the factory and aftermarket sensor grrr. Gonna check with a sparky to see about the stocko sensor wiring...
  17. on their web site it says that fan clutch can only be used with the Holden VL blades not the stocko nissan ones ... Do they fit inside the stocko shroud properly ?
  18. there should be a small plate near the air bleed valve that says "never open when hot" ..it's just a 10mm bolt. On the R34 (neo) there are 2 of these ..one at the front and one at the back next to the AAC valve
  19. Ahh...bummer. Cut and plastic weld it? How much power do those smd panels consume anyway? Wouldn't be fun if you had a 'brown out' when reversing due to all power going to the reverse lighth heh
  20. what do you mean by continuity? the other end of the wire is on the ecu loom ... I've earthed the new gauge properly ..even had a sparky run a secondary ground to battery from the sensor. Both the factory sensor and my aftermarket one are on the top left radiator hose (inlet?) - 20cm distance between them. I will be replacing the factory sensor tommorow so I'll know soon enough if that was the issue
  21. mine's got an internal leak somewhere as well... to repair the seals etc I was quoted $300 and it's $420 brand new shipped from rhdjapan.com (OEM)
  22. I busted one of the bushes hitting a gutter at 5kmh ..one of those that stops the top arm from moving forward/backward..whatsever its called.
  23. can't take the reverse lights off the bar at all ? Strange .. you'd think they would be no harder than any of the other crap as those bulbs need to be changed once in a while if they blow..Maybe it's some weird slide system like the blinkers ?? I'll give mine a crack when I get a chance
  24. vs $330 for a brand new one ? I know which I'd pick..
  25. yeah thanks I worked it out yesterday .. that one is $63 and the ecu temp sender is $97 ...bit steep but worthwhile if unsure about the condition of the stockies which I am.
